It’s quite a week for stunning new entries into the top five most-viewed movies and shows on Netflix. The lists on Tudum have been updated and highlight some very recent releases. Those have added an edge and been popular with viewers, one doing so in spectacular numbers.
The top five shows include a new tough-to-stomach drama with remarkable direction and camerawork. The show has been a major talking point for viewers this week and has had a huge number of views. It’s joined by two other new releases and a couple of recent favorites.
On the movie list, one new release has been much-awaited but may be a letdown if the critics are right. But then the viewers themselves have the real say, and it has attracted plenty of them so far. Once again there is plenty of variety and something for all the family among the top five movies.

When looking at Ryan Reynolds' 2024, one particular project stands out: Deadpool & Wolverine. While the third installment in his Merc with a Mouth franchise was a tremendous success, he had a project that didn't reach the same heights — If.
The children's movie If, which stands for Imaginary Friends, was actor and director John Krasinski's first brush with the genre after his two successful horror films from the A Quiet Place franchise. The movie had Reynolds as the leading actor alongside Cailey Fleming and a series of other A-list actors. While the movie didn't live up to its potential, If is finally getting the success it deserves on Netflix, Tudum reports.
The movie debuted on Netflix recently in different countries and entered the Top 10 charts globally in sixth place behind titles like The Electric State, Plankton: The Movie, Kraven the Hunter, Trap, and Despicable Me 4. In its first week, If amassed...

Sony's Kraven the Hunter lands on Netflix's Top 10 Movies list just a few months after bombing at the box office. As the McU's Phase 5 continues to develop, Sony's Spider-Man Universe has apparently come to an end following the overwhelmingly poor reception of Madame Weband Kraven the Hunter, as well as Venom: The Last Dance's disappointing box office results and reviews in comparison to Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Despite Kraven the Hunter's appalling theatrical run, the last installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe has landed the third spot on Netflix's Top 10 Movies list. As of March 18, 2025, Kraven the Hunter has collected 7.1 million views and 15 million hours viewed. Kraven the Hunter's stats are only topped by Plankton: The Movie and #2 and The Electric State at #1.

Not every film with good reviews becomes a major commercial hit, and not all films with bad reviews are unpopular. Just like last year there have been a series of examples, including Furiosa: A Mad Max Story, The Fall Guy, and Red One.
Now, Netflix's latest film The Electric State is experiencing a similar trend. Although the film didn't receive a theatrical release and it headed straight to Netflix, the early reviews ahead of the Mar. 14 release called it "one of the worst movies of the year." The official numbers prove otherwise, as Tudumcrowns The Electric State the biggest film of the week.
For the week between Mar. 10 and 16,The Electric State amassed 25.2 million views and 53.8 million hours viewed. That is a huge feat considering the movie had only 2 full days to achieve that before Netflix stopped counting.
It became the No. 1 movie in 47 countries, including the U.S.

Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown are two of the biggest names in streaming, and they have teamed up for a new Netflix hit. After rising to prominence for playing Andy Dwyer on the sitcom Parks and Recreation, Pratt solidified his fame by starring in two highly successful film franchises – playing Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Owen Grady in the Jurassic World trilogy. In recent years, he's also had a consistent presence on streaming, starring in the Prime Video movie The Tomorrow War and the series The Terminal List.
On the other hand, the British actress broke out as Eleven in Netflix's massively popular sci-fi series Stranger Things, for which she has earned two Emmy nominations. Besides her role in the Monsterverse movies Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong, Brown's career has been confined to Netflix. “Adolescence” debuted as Netflix’s most-watched TV show of the week with an impressive audience for its opening weekend.
After debuting its four hour-long episodes on Thursday, March 13, “Adolescence” scored 24.3 million views through Sunday, March 16, making the limited series the most-watched TV show on Netflix during the week of March 10.
The opening weekend viewership for “Adolescence” outpaced that of other recent Netflix original series, including “The Night Agent” Season 2, which debuted to 13.9 million views, and “Zero Day,” which debuted to 19.1 million views during the week of Feb. 17. Likewise, “Running Point” scored 9.3 million views in its first week on the streamer.
Still, viewership for “Adolescence” was not enough to beat Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt-led “The Electric State,” which debuted to 25.2 million views, ranking as the most-watched movie of the week on Netflix.
“Adolescence” was by far the most-watched English TV show on Netflix this week, with “Running Point” coming in as the No.

A cult classic comedy franchise starring Ice Cube has multiple installments trending on streaming three decades after the premiere of the first movie. Ice Cube is best known as a rap icon, having been a key member of the gangsta rap group N.W.A., which was formed in 1987. In the early 1990s, he began a career as an actor, making his feature debut in the 1991 John Singleton classic Boyz n the Hood, following that up with performances in Walter Hill's Trespass and Charles Burnett's The Glass Shield.
However, over the years, Ice Cube began to embrace more of a comic persona onscreen, which led him to star in multiple franchises in the comedy genre over the years. This includes the Barbershop franchise, which now includes three movies, a spinoff, and a television remake. He also starred in the 2005 road trip comedy Are We There Yet? and its 2007 sequel Are We Done Yet?...

Bruce Willis is one of the most prolific and popular action heroes, often playing hard-edged characters in different films. Although the actor has retired from acting, his movies continue to attract a lot of interest, even those with poor reviews.
Before retiring, Willis starred in many low-budget independent thrillers and sci-fi films, often collaborating with production company Emmett Fula Oasis. One of the films he last starred in was 2021's Midnight in the Switchgrass from the same production company. Although the movie was critically panned, the crime thriller has become a hit on Netflix, Tudum reveals.

Venom: The Last Dance Ott Verdict In Week 2 ( Photo Credit – Netflix )
Venom: The Last Dance, starring Tom Hardy, debuted at the #1 spot on Netflix’s global top 10 weekly list last week. However, it lost its ruling spot this week but managed to stay in the top five. Venom 3 has been beaten by the new release Plankton: The Movie, which debuted at the top spot. Scroll below for more.
The film by Kelly Marcel had a decent run at the box office, making it one of 2024’s top 15 highest-grossing movies. It is also the least-grossing film in the franchise but still a box-office success. Tom Hardy might not be getting another solo outing in the franchise, but he might return in future Marvel movies, as his Venom franchise is the only successful franchise in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.

Netflix's charts are always dynamic, filled with all kinds of genres. Most recently, animated projects have experienced a surge in popularity.

Taylor Sheridan & Denis Villeneuve's Oscar-Nominated Movie Becomes Netflix Global Hit 10 Years Later
Taylor Sheridan and Denis Villeneuve's Oscar-nominated movie has become a global Netflix hit a decade after its release. The Canadian director started his career with four French-language films, including Incendies, which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best International Feature. From there, Villeneuve transitioned into English-language movies with Prisoners and Enemy, but gained further recognition for his sci-fi films Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and Dune: Part Two – which earned a total of 28 Oscar nominations and won 11.

Today, this film from the successful Nickelodeon franchise, SpongeBob, arrives on Netflix, this time with a villain as the protagonist, Sheldon J. Plankton (or simply Plankton), and his beloved Karen, transformed into a three-headed supercomputer who, surprisingly, is willing to dominate the world.
Absolutely hilarious and very funny. We’ve had a really, really good time.
Plot
Karen, tired of Plankton’s constant failures, transforms into a multi-process supercomputer with her own world domination plans. This forces Plankton to ally with SpongeBob and his friends to save the world.

Sheldon J. Plankton's quarter-century of scheming to steal the recipe for delicious Krabby Patties finally comes to fruition, but not by the tentacles of our diminutive SpongeBob SquarePants supervillain. Plankton: The Movie has Karen, his frustrated robot wife, tired of backing her ungrateful hubby's perennial failure. Bikini Bottom beware! She's done being taken for granted and decides on her own plan for world domination. The second SpongeBob spinoff feature to land on Netflix will delight fans of all ages with a slick combo of cool animation styles and toe-tapping original songs. There's a lot to like as the franchise keeps chugging in the right direction.
Plankton: The Movie is an origin story, a rocky romance, to say the least, and a rollicking adventure with all of our favorite underwater critters. The clever screenplay, co-written and based on an original story by Plankton himself, voice actor Mr. Lawrence, pokes good fun...

Following on from the relative success of the 2024 film, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, Netflix has come up with another SpongeBob SquarePants adventure, titled Plankton: The Movie. Just like last time around, the 2025 film is centered around a side character of the franchise, as the inherently evil microscopic nemesis, Sheldon J. Plankton, makes another attempt at world domination with his beloved wife, Karen. But things go heavily wrong when an argument between the couple leads to them splitting, and Bikini Bottom is once again at the risk of being destroyed. Overall, Plankton: The Movie is as silly and goofy as SpongeBob SquarePants has ever been, and it can be a good watch for fans of the much-loved franchise.

Ah, SpongeBob SquarePants, an animated series that has enjoyed a long-lasting career that most children's shows only dream of. As hard as it might be to believe, Nickelodeon's highly lucrative talking sponge (Tom Kenny) just recently turned 25 years old, and the original series is still going to this very day. With popularity like that, it makes perfect sense why the IP has branched out into other mediums, such as several video games, a Broadway musical, a boatload of merchandise, and even a few movies. The original The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie still holds up as a classic adaptation, and the other films aren't too shabby either, which puts a lot of pressure on the newest installment, Plankton: The Movie.

There is some fun to be had here for younger audiences especially, but this is essentially a few episodes stitched together without much added
Honestly, a title like Plankton: The Movie is about as difficult to evaluate as any movie that comes down the Hollywood pike or, in this case, washes up on its shores. Not because it’s a spin-off of SpongeBob Squarepants – or at least, not because there is anything inherently wrong with a spin-off movie of such a durably silly and enjoyable kids’ franchise – but because it often feels somewhere to the side of genuine feature-film status. In executive terms, it is more like content.
Lengthwise, Plankton does qualify as a feature, though its official runtime of nearly 90 minutes doesn’t really do justice to the fact that it runs closer to 75 when you take out the extensive end credits. Anyway, that’s not a problem; there...

Plankton: The Movie is streaming on Netflix on March 7.
The tragic death of Spongebob SquarePants’ creator, Stephen Hillenburg, should’ve ended the franchise. It’s clear that Nickelodeon has almost no idea what to do except to go away from everything that made the show and its movies so excellent. In its latest bizarre endeavor to create spinoff films, following Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, Nickelodeon has placed a focus on the green guy who’s always trying to steal the Krabby Patty’s secret formula in Plankton: The Movie, a ridiculous spinoff with little merit.

It’s another year of high-profile animated sequels, led by Disney’s “Zootopia 2,” DreamWorks’ “The Bad Guys 2,” and Nickelodeon/Paramount’s “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Square Pants” and the “Smurfs” film.
But there are plenty of attention-grabbing originals in 2025: “Pixar’s sci-fi “Elio,” DreamWorks’ “Dog Man,” Sony Pictures Classics’ “The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol,” and Laika’s highly anticipated “Wildwood” (a tentative release). In addition, Netflix delivers another diverse slate: “In Your Dreams,” “K-Pop: Demon Hunters”, “Lost in Starlight” (the streamer’s first Korean-language animated film), “Plankton: The Movie” (with Nickelodeon), “Pookoo” (with Skydance Animation), and “The Twits” from Roald Dahl. Plus, Crunchyroll/Sony Pictures offer the theatrical anime event of the year with “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” (“Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle”).

As anyone familiar with anime and manga knows leaks have been a massive issue lately. With popular series like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen suffering leaks of incredibly pivotal chapters, it unfortunately seems like no franchise is safe from those with malicious intent. Earlier this week, a massive leak of anime titles occurred due to a security breach at a post-production partner of some big streaming platforms. The leak included several highly anticipated and unreleased titles that were set to premiere on Netflix in the coming weeks. Key titles such as the second season of Arcane, Terminator: Zero, Dandadan and Ranma 12 had full episodes leaked online.
Netflix has released an official statement declaring that it will be aggressively taking action against the leak. This announcement came after two days of silence, during which concerned fans started to believe that the streaming giant might ignore the issue. But a Netflix spokespersons statement to The Wrap was a relief to many who feared the worst.

Q: Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? A: We all have for the last 25 years! That’s 25 years of supremely silly subaquatic surrealism that we, as a crew, and you, as our amazing audience, have been submerged in together. Twenty-five glorious years since Nickelodeon first introduced the world to Stephen Hillenburg’s quirky cast of characters that he discovered in a town deep on the ocean floor called Bikini Bottom. More specifically, one humble little goofball we all know (and love), Mr. SpongeBob SquarePants.
We’ve been so lucky to be part of a crew that has grown and morphed over the years in surprising ways. There are talented folks who have been with us since the very beginning and new members who grew up loving the show that they are now helping create. This is the secret formula to the show’s success.

The world of animation is one of the most creative and unique. Growing up, when you think of cartoons, it may have been anime, Pixar, Bugs Bunny, or Mickey Mouse, but there is far more to offer. Over the decades, filmmakers have taken audiences to brave new worlds too vast to imagine. Even before the advent of CGI, animators created incredible stories for decades that ran the gamut of imaginative tales. And over the past few years, Netflix has proven to be a powerhouse for animated tales. With the successful Academy Award win for last year’s exceptional Pinocchio from Guillermo del Toro, you can expect much more.
I recently attended the Next on Netflix: Animation Preview, which included something for the entire family. The event took place at the Netflix Tudum Theater in Los Angeles. And our announcer? That would be “Lola” from the hilariously crude animated series Big Mouth.

Netflix Animation held its first slate preview event June 6 at the Tudum in L.A., as a lead-up to the Annecy Animation Festival (June 9-15), where it will premiere Shannon Tindle’s “Ultraman: Rising” (streaming June 14) and tout some of its upcoming works in 2024 and 2025.
Hosted by Christopher Sean (the voice star of “Ultraman: Rising”), attendees were treated to exclusive presentations, previews, and special announcements. The biggest announcement was the full title of Aardman’s next stop-motion feature, “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” which will have an Oscar-qualifying run this winter before streaming in 2025.
Directed by franchise creator Nick Park and creative director Merlin Crossingham, who offered a pre-recorded introduction, “Vengeance Most Fowl” marks the return of the villainous penguin, Feathers McGraw, from the Oscar-winning short “The Wrong Trousers.” The film is a cautionary tale of high-tech gone wrong involving an out-of-control “smart gnome” with a mind of its own.
