Countdown is a gritty procedural punctuated by unhinged excitement and an astounding ensemble cast. It plays out on three fronts; the high-octane hunt to stop a mad man; the backstory to uncover what creates such a villain; and the character development that delivers on vulnerability, tension, drama, romance and intrigue.
I can't say enough about this stellar group of actors who elevate every scene.
In short, this roller-coaster ride of adrenaline-pumping action is exactly what Derek Haas promised and delivered. His storytelling has deftly worked in the thematic elements to not only keep us coming back every Wednesday but clearly point to more seasons.

Look, anything Jensen Akles is in will be amazing. His brand of rogue humor is the best. The show is good. But man are they pushing some storylines in such a horribly obvious way. Oliveras is annoying and it's irritating how hard the storyline pushes her and Akles character. And they are bringing in other big arc "dramatic" story issues all in Episode 1. It's too much. Let us just enjoy the characters and cast. But maybe give Akles a female lead that works with his character because it's not working with the one they have.
I would love to see this rely more on good writing and character interaction and less on shock value. You have a great cast to work with, so use them and not all these random side plots.

I am a huge fan of procedurals or series that have mysteries and then as a result, cases to solve. And an even bigger fan of stories where a band of misfits are bought together to solve it all. When do many different personalities come together, really interesting situations and moments are created.
What hooked me to the show is, that I can see that even though it will solve the main case, it will also form bonds between the team.
I already am loving Mark and Amber's chemistry. That they don't see eye to eye yet and are still forming a team is really interesting.
The cast is really good. Obviously Jensen leads the one as the most effective performer, charismatic, profound, and expressive. And I am further impressed by how well he's carved out Mark as a character. But even the others are great. Waiting for more characters to evolve to speak for others. But very impressed by Jensen, Eric Dane, Jessica Camacho so far.

From what I believe is that this show has the potential to be better, from writing to acting. I, however have enjoyed the first three episodes that im actually rewatching it. Some people may think is too cliche or too poor of an acting or writing but you can start to see they are working through the scripts. I know that is hard to trust a process but i just know it will get better. (Thats me hoping). Sometimes you may predict what happen next on the show but sometimes thats a good thing, sometimes it might seem like a show you have already watched but is honestly not that bad, cop drama end up having the same elements at times and there isnt much you cant do.. I say giving it a try would be nice because is just the first three episodes, we dont know how it will actually carry itself for the next ones.
Overall:

The show so far seems pretty good, lots of action. Couple actors seem to be trying too hard, it's a new show though, perhaps they'll adjust into their character as it progresses. Ackles, however, fits into the plot like a glove on Mantle. They definitely went pretty darn hard on the soundtrack though lol. Couple times maybe juuuuuuust a bit too hard throwing in some hard rock to Amp the scene. Still has a good feel, but could definitely do with maybe just a tad bit of backing off the heavy/loud music occasionally. As long as the show stays with the story, action and drama and AWAY from the political agendas which Hollywood seems to try to force into everything they make now, then I think it'll continue to grow into a great series.
Don't recommend watching it on Amazon Prime (unless this is the only way, haven't checked that.) WAY too many ads/commercials!
