    Just getting messy

Another week, another mediocre episode. The show has lost its soul after Joel's death and it's just getting bad from here. Male characters are not being used properly and two teenage girls think that they are enough on their own, stop this nonsense. The start of this episode felt like a filler and the ending was rushed. Bella is giving the same reactions every time and in every situation. Her and Isabela are not giving the vibes. It has become more like a teenage drama than a survival show. Joel added seriousness and intensity in the show and after him gone, feels like nothing is hitting, even the tense situations are hitting. Overall, another weak episode, and show is losing its heart.

    Terrible Writing...

The game had some problems in terms of writing, but here?

This show has great looking locations, nice action sequences, but overall it is just a mess.

Half of the episode is wasted on Dina and Ellie talking and walking.

The action even if good ends up being rushed because we have to cut corners at this point.

Guards just talk about everything through the radio, they pass all sensitive and crucial information because nobody can be listening... imma right?!

Ellie sneaking into the building is also "barely an inconvenience as the dog barking and pulling the guard is just "ahh, it's probably just a critter or something"... Last I checked, you should let the dog off your leash if he sniffs out an intruder, not stop him because... reasons.

Dina and Ellie talks in this episode are written so badly, I was rolling my eyes and wanted it to just stop.

Still better than the last week's episode.

    Rushed and out of place

The chemistry between Ellie and Dina feel rushed. They keep smiling at each other despite their situation being completely chaotic. They joke, they smile with big googly eyes whiles surrounded by 12 militia and infected. Dina keep pulling off math to ''triangulate'' the patrol movement that make no sense. And Ellie act like a dumb idiot, supposedly being the muscle of the operation, Dina, the brain. 2 teenager and the power of love against an army on a vengeance quest. The writing feel much more sloppy than the first season, witch were slower and much more subtle in his approach. All of this feel rushed and out of place.

Less smiles and flowers, more rage and grim please

I need to see dark Ellie, her rage, her sorrow, I can't watch Ellie that smiles after her loss, that is not her, that is not Last Of Us 2, ending of this episode is what season 2 should be, but everything before that, teenage drama, was very shallow and badly written.

Abby rage is what Ellie rage needs to be, when we first watched Abby and her path, the way she was looking for revange, is how Ellie should look like as well, and not whatever this Ellie we are watching is.

I hope that with ending of this episode that we are finally moving in right direction, however knowing that this season is also shorter, I don't see how last 2 episodes are going to fix this whole season being very weak and dissapointing.

    Keep hoping for more

After watching episode 5 I am feeling kind of confused about it. Watching it feels like the episode is fighting against time to show us the end of the story. Ive played both games multiple times and naturally both being my favorite story games of all time I expect a lot from an adaptation being made about it. This episode adapts one of the best and most important parts of the game and even though it implements it correctly and manages to capture the essence of what the game made me feel I just cant stop feeling like I was watching an extremely fast summary of what I played. I know it very difficult to include the 30 or 40+ hours of story the game has and maybe if i didn't play the games before I would love this episode, but from where I stand all I keep thinking about is how can this season only have 7 episodes. Keep in mind the first game is about 14 to 18 hours of gameplay and we got 9 episodes out of it. Second game has almost double that, so even with season 3 coming out I still feel the rest of the story will keep getting rushed without the proper amount of episodes required for such a complex story.

    • Trivia
Spores, through which the infection is spread in the games, were replaced by tendrils in the series but reintroduced in this episode as the writers wanted to recreate the moment in which Nora realizes Ellie is immune, unaffected by the spores. Neil Druckmann, the series's co-creator who co-wrote and co-directed the game, felt their reintroduction kept the threat dynamic and dramatic, as the world continues changing around the characters.
    • Goofs
In the beginning of the episode, Elle begins to play "Future Days" by Pearl Jam. While this song didn't exist until 2013, and in the show's timeline the fungal infection began in 2003, the song featured heavily in the game on which the show is based.

Elise Park: We cleared the ground floor up to the sixth. A few scattered infected here and there; nothing we couldn't handle. All that was left was the basement - B1, B2, B3. We were expecting the worst, the kind of environment they like. Plus, the old-timers said that down there was where they brought the first Cordyceps patients in '03. On top of that, we had an access problem.

[Smooths out map and points at stairwells]

Elise Park: These stairwells here, here, and here caved in, and all the elevator cars were stuck in their shafts just below ground level. The only other way out of the basement was here, this stairwell. So yesterday, that's where I sent a squad, down to B1.

      Hanrahan: And?

Elise Park: Nothing. The whole floor was empty; not even rats. So today, B2, hoping for more of the same, I sent another squad down, and I put Leon in charge, 'cause... he's my best. Few minutes later, he radios back - there's Cordyceps on the walls, the floor. Chances are, they'll find infected next, but that's what they're down there for, so I told him to proceed. Five minutes later, he radios again. This time, he... he was struggling to breathe. He could hardly talk. I thought maybe he had been bit; I said, "Leon, were you bit?" He said... he said, "It's in the air." He said, "It's in the air. Seal us in." And I knew it wasn't in the vents, or we would've all been infected weeks ago. So, I scrambled my other team, and we locked the only door to B2, and we locked the only door to B1. And we did what Leon said - we sealed them in.
