Barack Obama was almost part of “Severance” Season 2. Ben Stiller, who executive produces and directs the series, said during a recent appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (which you can see in the below video) that he asked former president Obama to voice the animated Lumon building in the second season. Despite Obama being a “big fan” of the series, he turned the role down.
“I didn’t ask him in person,” Stiller said of how he approached asking Obama. “I knew someone that knew his lawyer, and his lawyer said ‘I can relay the request if you write an email,’ so I wrote an email to him. Like two days later I get an email back from President Barack Obama saying, ‘Hey Ben, big fan of the show, love Season 1, can’t wait for Season 2. … Don’t think I have time in my schedule to make this happen.'”

Court of Gold is a six-part documentary that follows the efforts of Team USA as they aim for Olympic gold. The series outlines the transformation of USA Basketball, drawing a line from the famed Dream Team to the modern squad competing at the Olympic Games.
It highlights the evolution of international competition, where global talent increasingly contests the longstanding dominance once enjoyed by the United States.
The series situates its narrative within the energetic atmosphere of Paris, with striking shots of the city’s skyline at dusk that set an unmistakable tone for the Olympic season.
The documentary is organized into segments that lead viewers through the initial preparations, the competitive stages of the games, and the buildup of tension before the final matchups. The Netflix Effect is weird. Whether it’s “Suits” or “Madame Web” or a Netflix original like “Baby Reindeer” that turns into a sleeper hit, people tend to gravitate toward some truly random stuff on Netflix. It’s the case most weeks on the Netflix Top 10 charts, but this week even we’re at a loss.
Coming in at No. 2 on Netflix’s Top 10 English Films for the week of February 17 was none other than “Uncharted,” the 2022 Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg adventure-thriller based on the PlayStation video game franchise. Because…why not?
You guys watched it 10.5 million times this week, behind only the Netflix original rom-com “La Dolce Villa,” which hit No. 1 for the second week in a row post-Valentine’s Day with 14.1 million views. “Uncharted” previously landed on Netflix on August 5, 2022, and it spent three consecutive weeks on the Netflix Top 10 charts at that time, reaching 23 million viewing hours in a single week.

Audiences are seemingly still enthralled by Gabby Petito’s disappearance, flocking to Netflix’s latest docuseries about the tragedy nearly four years later.
American Murder: Gabby Petito put up a massive 31.3M views from February 17 to February 23, reaching No. 1 on the English-language TV list globally. It was among the Top 10 in 90 countries, per Netflix.
It was a fairly strong week overall for Netflix’s unscripted content, even amid the release of some flashy scripted series. American Murder: Gabby Petito was one of five non-fiction series to hit the Top 10 English-language TV list,
The Search For Instagram’s Worst Con Artist came in third place with 5.5M views, followed by the latest season of Love Is Blind in fourth place with 5M views. Court of Gold served up 2.8M views, which was good enough for eighth place, and WWE’s Raw was once again on the list on tenth place with 2.8M views.

It is February, and it is still cold outside. You don't want to go out there. Stay inside where it is warm. Eat a bunch of junk, and stream a lot of things on Netflix. While Netflix and chill might not have a very direct meaning, you can interpret that as you want to watch Netflix because you don't want to be chilled.
But what to watch? There is a bunch of new stuff every week on your favorite streaming service, but not everything on this list is brand new. Most of it is, though. We won't lie.
That is only because you might not yet have had a chance to see what is suggested. You should take the weekend off from work (or not go out). You should watch these things instead.

Not many people can say they’ve been kicked out of a locker room at the Olympics or have made NBA superstar Kevin Durant cry, but director Jake Rogal got an all-access pass to the Paris Summer Olympic Games for Netflix’s basketball documentary “Court of Gold.”
Rogal, who produced the Michael Jordan documentary “The Last Dance,” returned to the basketball court but took a much more international lens for the Olympics action. He traded Jordan for current basketball superstars like LeBron James, Steph Curry and Durant, plus foreign talents including Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama. Across six episodes, “Court of Gold” follows basketball teams from the U.S., France, Serbia and Canada as they chased Olympic glory in Paris last summer. Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground produced the series.

If you’ve ever wanted a backstage pass to the Olympics, Court of Goldwill transport you from the edge of your seat to Paris during the frenzied summer of 2024. The six-episode series follows four Olympic men’s basketball teams from the USA, Canada, Serbia, and France on their quest for gold. Trailing seasoned veterans like Kevin Durant and Steph Curry as well as younger superstars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokić, and Victor Wembanyama, Court of Gold takes audiences behind the scenes, capturing what went down in locker rooms, on team buses, in training sessions, and beyond.
“You’re seeing something that you think you’ve seen before in a completely different light,” director Jake Rogal tells Tudum. “It’s fresh and compelling because you’re actually seeing what it’s like to be at the Olympics, and it is so much different than you think it would be.”

Your favorite streamer and mine is adding over a dozen new shows and movies this week. We are talking about Netflix, right? *Author checks input in AI prompt.* Yep, it's Netflix.
Hello there, happy people. After a couple of weeks of massive amounts of new content, Netflix has calmed down a bit. We'll "only" get a little over a dozen new releases this week. Yay, that's more time to warm up another mug of hot chocolate.
Alright now, here's what you do. Skip that Swiss Miss and Carnation junk. Get yourself a quart saucepan and fill it to within an inch of the top with some rich, full-fat milk. Straight from the farm, if you can. Now chop up a 70 percent cacao chocolate bar, and melt that bad boy into a pot of liquid joy. Toss in some chipotle chilis for the real stuff.

We expect to see the a lot of announcements, clips, images, and other goodies from the Netflix streaming service today, and the action begins with the unveiling of the streamer’s 2025 TV slate – which is previewed in the fun “You’re Not Ready” trailer embedded above. In this trailer, a Netflix subscriber finds herself taking a journey through some of the many TV shows coming to the streamer this year, including Squid Game season 3, Wednesday season 2, the Cobra Kai finale, The Witcher season 4, and Stranger Things season 5. Don’t expect to see much in the way of show footage in the trailer; this is just about the subscriber’s adventure. Netflix had the actress who stars in the ad do a lot of stuff for this 3 minute promo, but unfortunately they didn’t reveal her name, so I can’t credit her for her work.

Netflix has quite a large slate of new and returning series coming in 2025. The slate was previewed Wednesday at the streamer’s annual Next on Netflix event in Los Angeles, which was also streamed across the globe.
Some of the most anticipated projects include Stranger Things 5 and Wednesday Season 2, neither of which have premiere dates just yet. So far, Netflix has revealed a huge slate for February, as well as a smattering of series that are expected through August, but a large portion of the series the streamer says we’ll see this year haven’t been confirmed for a specific date yet.
Of the dates that were revealed, perhaps the biggest surprise is that the third and final season of Squid Game is coming sooner than audiences might have anticipated, premiering on June 27. June will also bring another season of Ginny & Georgia.

Netflix has revealed its lineup for February 2025.
Reality TV enthusiasts are in for a treat. Netflix is putting a strong focus on this genre with the return of Love Is Blind for its eighth season, along with the debut of Celebrity Bear Hunt, a fresh competition-based reality show. For those who prefer a gripping thriller, Netflix will drop Apple Cider Vinegar, a new series premiering on February 6 that’s worth keeping an eye on.
In other big news, the highly popular series Cobra Kai will release its final batch of five episodes this month, marking the end of the TV series. While it’s bittersweet for fans, this isn’t the last we’ll see of Daniel Larusso, as he’s set to appear in an upcoming Karate Kid movie hitting theaters later this year.
Beyond these highlights, Netflix is also adding plenty of films and shows to its catalog.
