Lacey Chabert has an estimated net worth that’s a little lower than what some might expect.
Even though the acting veteran is a pillar of Hallmark projects, there was a time when higher ups tried to push out “old talent” — and branded her as such.
Perhaps that lack of appreciation by those in charge is why she hasn’t reaped the full rewards of her years of work.
Fortunately, this seems to be changing with a slew of new projects. It’s no more than she deserves.

After posting impressive streaming numbers on Netflix, a polarizing nine-year-old Will Smith and Margot Robbie crime comedy-drama will soon arrive on another major streaming platform. 2015's Focus will hit Paramount+ on January 1.
Written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, Focus follows Smith's con-man character, Nicky Spurgeon, who takes a novice, Robbie's Jess Barrett, under his wing after she tries to con him. The pair start a relationship that puts them at risk as their romance begins to distract him, which he can ill afford. The movie also stars Rodrigo Santoro, Gerald McRaney, Adrian Martinez, B. D. Wong, Robert Taylor, Griff Furst, Stephanie Honoré, Dominic Fumusa, and Juan Minujin.

The holiday season is here, which tends to be a useful time for streaming. More people have time off work and school, which helps stimulate the box office and brings people together in their homes to watch new titles on streaming. This year, this has meant success for some of the major streamer's newer holiday hits. Netflix's animated family holiday film That Christmas debuted on the platform to positive reception and viewership, staying in the streamer's top 10 day after day and week after week for a while. Festive rom-coms like Our Little Secret and Hot Frosty also shined.
At the same time, this is the time of year when some streaming subscribers look for alternative options to the more typical festive fare. The Christmas horror movie Krampus, for example, surged on streaming during December, showing that fans had an appetite for the darker side of the holidays. Netflix's Carry-On...

Two Christmas series are trending on Netflix, and they couldn't be more different. Netflix's library contains a diverse array of Christmas titles. Although their roster includes an ever-shifting array of acquired movies and TV shows that come and go as licensing contracts change, their holiday season offerings for 2024 have included theatrical titles such as A Bad Moms Christmas and Journey to Bethlehem as well as a huge list of Hallmark CHannel movies including Haul Out the Holly, Christmas with a Kiss, Christmas in Notting Hill, A Biltmore Christmas, and A Merry Scottish Christmas.
However, since the late 2010s, they have also built out a huge roster of Netflix original Christmas movies, many of which take place in an interconnected universe. This includes the Princess Switch and A Christmas Prince trilogies, A Castle for Christmas, and The Knight Before Christmas. Look, if your goal is to Netflix and chill, the last thing you want to do is put on a documentary about insider trading. Or maybe you do; different strokes for different folks and all that. But by and large, your aim should be to get your partner in the mood by watching attractive people suck each other's faces.
Of course, you don't need a partner to enjoy a good romantic comedy. Perhaps you just need reminding that love is possible in this crazy world of ours after experiencing some heartbreak of your own. With a Netflix subscription, you have a cornucopia of options to choose from.
Netflix has really cornered the market on romantic films, as every movie on this list is original to the platform. These are the best rom-coms on Netflix to make you laugh and, more importantly, make you feel. And who knows? Maybe these stories...

Like everyone else, when I first saw the trailer for Netflix’s “Hot Frosty” — about a snowman who comes to life to charm a single woman in a small town — I groaned and giggled at the same time. It felt like a parody of the cheesy Christmas TV movie genre, the kind of simplistic, home-for-the-holidays fun that Hallmark has long championed and Netflix has successfully showcased to a younger audience over the last handful of years. I figured I’d half-watch at some point while also imbibing in some holiday cheer when doom-scrolling got a little too bleak.
Well.
I finally viewed the 90-minute smash starring Dustin Milligan as the titular Frosty and Lacey Chabert, and while it’s not winning any Emmys, it’s a sweet, surprisingly charming outing that should be able to hold its own entertaining both your parents and any teens in your life this holiday season.

Jonathan Bennett wants a “Mean Girls” reunion.
Bennett, along with his “Mean Girls” co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert, is leading his own Christmas special this year and suggested the idea of the trio reuniting on a holiday film.
“I think what’s so special about the similarities between ‘Mean Girls’ and Christmas movies is they both have a through line — and that through line is that all these movies make people happy,” Bennett told People Magazine. “There’s a huge connection between the fan base of ‘Mean Girls’ and the fan base of Christmas movies. These are people that want to turn on a movie and feel happier and walk away feeling better. I think that’s what these movies do.”
Bennett is set to host a new Hallmark+ reality competition series titled “Finding Mr. Christmas,” created to determine his leading man replacement following his performances in many Hallmark features over the years.

Haul out the holly, Netflix’s entire 2024 Christmas slate is here, and we watched every one of them. So, if you’re wondering which ones to prioritize, or maybe which order to watch them in, we’re happy to guide you.
The streamer began their rollout at the beginning of November, releasing one new movie every Wednesday, culminating on Dec. 4. There are five in total, ranging pretty widely in concepts. One follows an all-male revue, another follows a hot snowman come to life, another features Pentatonix playing cupid.
Such is the beauty of Christmas movies. Here’s how we’d rank them.
Netflix 5. The Merry Gentlemen
On its face, “Christmas Magic Mike” sounds like it should be awesome. And in fairness, those elements in “The Merry Gentlemen” are awesome. But they aren’t strong enough to carry the rest of the film, which leans a little too far into the...

The week of Nov. 18-24 was a good one to premiere a streaming show with “man” in the title.
Netflix’s A Man on the Inside and Paramount+’s Landman both ranked among the top five original streaming series in their first week on the charts. A Man on the Inside, starring Ted Danson as a widower who goes undercover in a retirement community working for a private investigator, drew 880 million minutes of viewing for the week. That’s either the second- or third-best debut for a streaming comedy in 2024, depending on whether you classify The Bear (1.23 billion minutes for the week of its season three premiere) as one. (Nobody Wants This had just over a billion minutes for its first week.)
Landman, meanwhile, snagged 653 million minutes of viewing, largely for its first two episodes that premiered Nov. 17. The third episode, which debuted Nov. 24, had only a day to contribute...

The Christmas movie sensation of 2024 isn't "Red One," nor is it any of the other non-Christmasy holiday releases like "Wicked," "Gladiator II" or "Moana 2." Okay, it might be "Hot Frosty." But if it's not "Hot Frosty," it's most assuredly Jaume Collet-Serra's crackerjack action-thriller "Carry-On." Currently streaming on Netflix, "Carry-On" is an unabashed B-movie -- Collet-Serra's speciality dating back to programmers like "House of Wax" and "Orphan" -- that harkens back to the '80s and '90s era of tightly paced and constructed action flicks like "Die Hard," "Under Siege," and "Speed." These films weren't mega-budget blowouts, but they did have studio-level production value. There were no corners being cut, and no dodgy CGI; you always had the sense that you were watching a big movie made with professional pride. And best of all, you didn't have to plunge into a series of books to get acquainted with the films' larger mythology.

The holiday season is upon us, which means the Netflix charts are being taken over by Christmas movies, typically those of the romantic-comedy variety. Its most recent Christmas rom-coms include The Merry Gentlemen and Meet Me Next Christmas, but neither have a title quite as eye-catching, nor a premise quite as weird as Hot Frosty. Starring Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan, Hot Frosty follows Kathy, an emotionally unavailable widow who falls for Jack, the sexy snowman she inadvertently brings to life, who quickly becomes a beloved member of their small town community.

Although The Big Bang Theory never took Sheldon’s problems with Frosty the Snowman seriously, the Netflix holiday movie Hot Frosty used this gag as the basis of its entire plot a decade and a half later. Of all The Big Bang Theory’s cast of characters, Sheldon was always the least likely to care about Christmas and the holidays. A fastidious figure who was obstinate and solitary at the best of times, Sheldon had a particularly intense aversion to anything resembling mandatory fun. Even in The Big Bang Theory’s finale, this side of his character’s personality had scarcely softened.

This 2024 Holiday season, Netflix has boldly asked the question: What if Christmas was hot?
Every November and December sees the streamer provide audiences with plenty of Yuletide seasonal movies, often resembling the type of corny, predictable, low-budget yet undeniably soothing made-for-tv works that Hallmark and other cable TV competitors push out during the tail end of the year. There’s plenty of that this year, most notably Lindsay Lohan’s “Our Little Secret,” about a couple who break up only to reunite during a Christmas holiday when they discover their new partners are siblings.
But this year, the company has put a bit of spice in the egg nog, so to speak, with “Hot Frosty” and “The Merry Gentlemen” two movies that…also pretty neatly fit into the Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movie formula, down to featuring the type of early 2000s teen film star that often headline this genre.

Netflix isn't holding back this Christmas season. Along with recent romantic hits Hot Frosty and Our Little Secret, the streaming service just added action flick Carry-On to its list of holiday successes. The film stars beloved Kingsman lead Taron Egerton as Tsa agent Ethan Kopek and award-winning Ozark actor Jason Bateman as a nameless passenger blackmailing the officer into allowing a dangerous package to slip through an airport security screening.
In this high-energy face-off, Kopek is forced to make impossible decision after impossible decision, ultimately choosing between the life of his pregnant girlfriend Nora (Sofia Carson) and saving all the lives on board an unfortunate Christmas Eve flight. As the departure time creeps closer, the two rivals embark on a suspenseful game of wits to see who is really in control of the situation. The holiday spirit is finally upon us! It’s officially the season of winter wonderlands, hot chocolates, and kisses under the mistletoe. Streaming platforms join in on the festive mood, with Netflix putting up an array of Christmas-themed selections, including Meet Me Next Christmas and Hot Frosty. Peacock’s got its offering, with Dr. Seuss' The Grinch to get things merry. You can’t swing a Christmas tree at the moment without crashing into one of the many dubious seasonal offerings festooned across the Netflix front page like so much cheap tinsel. Between sexy snowmen (Hot Frosty), Christmas strippers (The Merry Gentlemen), a ticket tout romance (Meet Me Next Christmas) and the latest evolution of the Lohanaissance (Our Little Secret), there’s enough shoddy yuletide fare to make even the holly jolliest of Christmas lovers want to garrotte an elf with some fairy lights.

2024's slate of Christmas movies has been somewhat underwhelming, with the big-budget Red One underperforming at the box office and streaming releases like Hot Frosty and Our Little Secret doing nothing to set the Christmas world alight. However, among these titles is another that has received almost unanimous praise from critics and the public alike, even earning a huge 92% critical score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes as well as 97% from audiences. That film is The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, helmed by The Chosen's Dallas Jenkins.

Love it or hate it, Netflix is still a dominating force in the streaming wars. As of 2024, the platform has 282 million paid subscribers worldwide, with roughly 96 million of those coming from North America alone. That means if you recommend a worthwhile Netflix original movie for someone to check out, there's a good chance they already have a subscription lined up to watch it. And recommendations can be so very crucial, as Netflix constantly cycles through movies and TV shows to the degree that it's easy for a real gem to get lost in the mix.
Many Netflix movies don't wind up in theaters at all, with a few noteworthy exceptions. That means there's typically a small window where a film can make an impact and get some buzz going before it's shifted out of the carousel at the top of the homepage. 2024 had a host of great Netflix originals, from...

The show, created by Ben Watkins and based on Patterson’s “Alex Cross” detective novels, performed particularly well with Black audiences, who accounted for 40% of total watch time.

The opening week of Cross was a big one for Prime Video.
The Amazon-owned streamer claimed the No. 1 overall spot on Nielsen’s streaming charts for Nov. 11-17 as Cross drew 1.36 billion minutes of viewing (the full eight-episode season premiered Nov. 14). The crime drama, starring Aldis Hodge and based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels, ranks as Prime Video’s second-best new series debut of 2024 behind Fallout. (Amazon says 40 million viewers worldwide watched at least some of Cross over its first three weeks of release.)
While Cross had a big opening, HBO’s DC Comics-based series The Penguin made its first appearance on the Nielsen charts for the week after its finale. The series had 595 million viewing minutes on Max for the week — and apparently has been landing just outside the acquired series top 10 for most of its run. 2024 was an ... unusual year for romantic comedies. As the genre continues its slow-motion migration into television and streaming, films that fit this once-omnipresent bill are no longer as common, and are rarely box office juggernauts. When a truly great rom-com lands, it's a cause for bona fide celebration. So when the /Film team looked at the state of the genre over the past twelve months to assemble our list of the 10 best romantic comedies of 2024, we found ourselves at an impasse. There simply weren't enough traditional rom-coms to fill an entire list, but there were a lot of movies that had rom-com flavor. Films that, it could be argued, were coming into being because of the absence of the more familiar forms of the genre -- the next evolution, if you will.So we hashed it out. And argued a bunch.. The result was this list, which blends the more...

Though fans might be most excited about Freakier Friday, Our Little Secret already demonstrates Lindsay Lohan’s official return to being a top actress. After appearing in some unsuccessful raunchy comedies and dramas of the 2010s, Lohan made a shocking comeback in 2022. Twenty years after Mean Girl’s success, the actress stars in three Netflix rom-coms, going back to her charming comedic style and proving she’s here to stay. While Our Little Secret has mixed reviews, Lohan’s performance shines through, foreshadowing a promising future for the actress.
Sharing the screen with a popular 2010s teen drama actor, Lohan and Ian Harding play exes who are forced to spend Christmas together, as they discover their partners are siblings. Our Little Secret’s cast marks a considerable improvement in the actress’ releases, having beloved Broadway actress Kristin Chenoweth play a Robert De Niro-esque judgmental parent, creating a fun Meet...

We’ve got tips for fighting the fall finale funk to help you get through the next few weeks of reruns and missing series. These ideas are meant to be fun and festive.
If you’re struggling with seasonal withdrawals and feel out of sorts without anything to do until your favorite shows come back on, try these funk-fighting tips. You can always catch a rerun of one of your series favorites, like NCIS: Origins.

Many of today’s popular TV shows go on a multi-week hiatus around the end-of-year holidays, giving TV networks time to fill with seasonal specials and holiday favorites.
However, the break in regular programming is also the perfect time for other shows to try to capture an otherwise distracted audience.

The entertainment industry is in the midst of a general contraction after last year’s SAG and WGA strikes, but there’s one sector that continues to thrive: holiday-themed TV movies! Granted, last year’s 116 has very slightly declined to a mere 110 in 2024, but that should still provide you with enough distraction to minimize your obligation to make conversation with loved ones.

As Bob Dylan fans await Timothée Chalamet‘s portrayal of the folk music legend, Chloe Fineman has reprised her portrayal of Chalamet.
On this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, she played the Oscar nominee in Buzzfeed’s red carpet coverage of the A Complete Unknown premiere, which also featured appearances from Dylan (James Austin Johnson), Bruce Springsteen (Andrew Dismukes) and Bono (host Paul Mescal).
“My forever babygirl, Timmy, is it safe to say you had a brat summer?” asks Heidi Gardner as Buzzfeed reporter Lacey Shay.
Fineman gave her signature Chalamet as she responded, “Oh man, ahhh! This is crazy! It’s nuts, man, it’s nuts. Wow!”
As Dylan, Johnson responded to the same question with a confused “what?” before answering nearly incoherently. “That about sums up my sausage consumption,” he concludes.
“Bob, it’s not about bratwurst, man! Ahhh, I love this guy,” exclaimed Fineman.

“Saturday Night Live” poked fun at one of the most anticipated films of the holiday season, the Timothée Chalamet-helmed Bob Dylan biopic, “A Complete Unknown,” out Christmas Day, with a sketch portraying the film’s red-carpet premiere.

The fictional Buzzfeed reporter, spotting Bob Dylan (James Austin Johnson), gushed, “Oh, my god. And icon alert! Here comes Mr. Bob Dylan himself.” The reporter then asked Johnson as Dylan if he, too, had had a Brat Summer.

Dylan, with his trademark gravelly voice, misunderstood the question thought he was being asked about bratwurst. “Bob, I love this guy!” said Fineman as Chalamet. “I love you, too, but all...

“The Madness” was the most-watched streaming original in the U.S. by far during the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5, per Luminate. The Colman Domingo-led limited series was watched for 2.2 billion minutes in that timeframe, which marked its first full week on Netflix. This is the first time a title has crossed 2 billion minutes on Luminate’s charts since “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” which debuted with 2.7 billion minutes watched Sept. 20-26.
With just over half of the viewership of “The Madness” was “Landman,” which hit 1.2 billion minutes watched Nov. 29-Dec. 5. The Taylor Sheridan-created series dropped its fourth episode this viewing window, landing in second place. “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey” was next in line with 774.2 million minutes watched, closely followed by “Lioness” Season 2, which dropped its penultimate episode this week and hit 750.6 million minutes watched. Its first season also continues to chart, this week landing at No.

Frosty the Snowman (Jackie Vernon). He's a jolly happy soul, with a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal...but you probably knew that already. Since first debuting in 1969, Frosty the Snowman has stood the test of time as an all-time holiday classic. The timeless story of a lovable snowman being brought to life by a magical top hat has become one of the most recognizable fables during the Christmas season, with the original classic, inspiring countless kinds of merchandise, some pretty absurd parodies like Hot Frosty, and even a few sequels.

Inherent in any Christmas movie is an element of silliness; it’s just the way of things. More often than not, magic is involved, and highly improbable love stories result in moving halfway across the country and giving up massive paychecks. But this year, Netflix really leaned in on absurdity for their Christmas offerings, and in the end, it helped the stars and creators of the films find the heart of it all.
The streamer has five new original Christmas movies this year, and rolled out one new film every Wednesday beginning in early November. In one, a sexy snowman comes to life and struggles not to melt while also trying to woo the woman who unwittingly brought him to life. In another, a small-town bar needs saving, so the owners’ daughter creates a Christmas-themed all male revue, because what better way to rake in cash?

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from That Christmas on Netflix.
Netflix has put out its fair share of Hallmark-style Christmas rom-coms in 2024, but That Christmas is a change in direction as it revolves around the lives and struggles of young and older individuals in the fictional British town of Wellington-on-Sea during the holidays. However, it features a happy ending, like all the 2024 Netflix Christmas films that came before it. The animated fantasy comedy is co-written by Richard Curtis of Love Actually fame. Curtis undoubtedly channels his roots in That Christmas as it contains similar themes to Love Actually (just inserted into an animated world geared towards kids).
Aside from That Christmas, other Netflix original Christmas movies debuting in 2024 include Meet Me Next Christmas, Hot Frosty, The Merry Gentlemen, and Our Little Secret.

With new hits like Hot Frosty and The Merry Gentlemen, Netflix is really leaning into feel-good Christmas movies this season, and audiences can't get enough. Its latest rom-com, Our Little Secret, highlights Lindsay Lohan's career resurgence as the sweet holiday flick dominates the streaming service's top ten chart quickly after its release.
The film follows the ironic reunion between ex-lovers Avery (Lindsay Lohan) and Logan (Ian Harding) after discovering their respective partners are siblings while staying at their parents' house for Christmas. Pretending they don't know each other in an effort to not make things awkward for everyone, the old flames take viewers on a journey into their intimate history through increasingly precarious lies and antics to keep their secret. As relationship problems emerge and old feelings resurface, the classic question of romance-movies-past is asked: who does Avery end up with?

This year, Netflix seems to have hit the nail on the head by releasing some really good holiday movies. Meet Me Next Christmas was a fun take on relationships brewing just before the holiday. Hot Frosty was also a great tale set during the holiday season that had elements of magical realism. The Snow Sister, the Norwegian Netflix Original, is a rather somber tale of love and loss with the upcoming holiday as the backdrop. The Snow Sister is a tale of two children who bond over the loss of their family member, and how they deal with it as Christmas approaches.
