Hey Everyone just watched Life Gets in the Way, I couldn't help but reflect on the themes and characters. The film lingered in my thoughts long after the credits rolled, prompting me to think about my own life and relationships. It's a testament to the power of storytelling when a film can evoke such strong emotions and introspection.
SO If you're looking for a film that will touch your heart and challenge your perspectives, Life Gets in the Way is a must-watch. It's perfect for viewers who appreciate character-driven dramas with a focus on emotional depth and personal growth. Hats off to Lili for making this gem.

If you have a heart....This is for sure a must see movie! I had watched it a year ago and added a review on Amazon.ca. I watched it again recently with some friends, and i wanted to share my opinion once again.
This is a very touchy story about how someone finds themselves molded by their past while trying to live their present. It is a very emotional film. I felt that it was a bitter-sweet story. very beautifully written. Two thumbs up !
You have to appreciate a truly independent film, one that clearly comes from the heart of the filmmaker. A sincere story about how our past traumas manifest in our current lives no matter how many years later. The drama pulls as your heart strings, and the comedy makes you smile ear to ear. And in one way or another we can all relate to it!
**** Nice little independent movie with strong themes such as death, suicide, the complexity of relationships. ***
It dives deeply into the complexities of navigating adulthood.
Don't be fooled by the breezy Los Angeles setting; the film tackles weighty themes like loss, grief, and the scars left by past trauma.
The protagonist's journey of self-discovery is fueled by the lingering shadow of death, possibly even suicide, forcing her to confront the ghosts of her past and the challenges of forging genuine connections in a city known for fleeting encounters.
Life Gets in the Way is a poignant exploration of resilience and the human spirit's ability to find hope even in the face of darkness.

It is 68 Melrose Avenue which made me look and review this one, although it was written and directed before 68 Melrose Avenue. So it is interesting to compare both in terms of actors direction and depth of thoughts. When Lili Matta decides to handle a subject it seems it has to refer and color present with the past. Each movie has a vision. THese are not "mass market" movies which are forgotten as soon as you have finised looking at them. In both cases the key heroes have to deal with their pasts to try to build their future. Death is also always present in various forms. Will this theme pervail in her future works?
J'ai beaucoup aimé ces deux films qui, bien que réalisés par une jeune femme, sont universels quand à la force de leurs thèmes. A voir et à revoir.
