Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl has immediately become the most-anticipated album for the rest of 2025, and based on details she shared Wednesday on a special episode of New Heights with Travis and Jason Kelce, her 12th album could be her most pop-leaning record in years.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to hear every single song on here, so I know they’re all 12 bangers,” her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, said of the album, which Swift revealed would come out Oct. 3. “It’s a lot more upbeat and it’s a lot more, like, fun pop excitement. I think it’s a complete 180 from a lot of the songs on Tortured Poets for sure.”
“Life is more upbeat,” Swift added. “I have different goals with different albums. Tortured Poets Department, my goals were strictly lyrical. It was really a full catharsis, and I love to embrace the mess of writing from that perspective,...

Spinal Tap have re-recorded their classic song “Stonehenge” with the legendary Elton John for the upcoming sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, as well as an accompanying companion album, titled The End Continues. Both the film and the album will arrive on September 12th.
“Stonehenge” was one of the highlights in the original 1984 movie, This Is Spinal Tap, as made famous in the hilarious scene in which the band plays onstage alongside an 18-inch Stonehenge prop instead of an 18-foot one.
The music video (and likely full scene from the sequel) shows Spinal Tap finally playing in front of that 18-foot Stonehenge they originally desired, as they are joined by Elton on piano and vocals.
The album The End Continues will also feature guest spots from Paul McCartney on “Cups and Cakes,” and married couple Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood on “Big Bottom,” as well as a second appearance...

It turns out that the real problem with Spinal Tap’s “Stonehenge” wasn’t just that tiny onstage prop — the song was also missing some assistance from a living rock monument. A just-released new version of the track, featuring Elton John on vocals, is the first single from the fictional metal gods’ new album,The End Continues. The collection, due Sept. 12, will accompany the long-delayed sequel to 1984’s This Is Spinal Tap, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, which hits theaters the same day.

Katy Perry appeared extremely vulnerable at her recent L.A. concert, as she was overcome with emotion while performing just weeks after her split from ex-fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom. The pair had been together for almost nine years until their split in June of this year.
During her Lifetimes tour in Inglewood on July 15, the “I Kissed A Girl” star seemed visibly shaken and held back tears at fans requesting she sing her 2010 ballad, “Not Like The Movies.” She asked the audience, “You’re gonna make me sing this song at this time in my life?” Ok, we’ll do it, because you voted for it.”
Perry seemed nervous and added, “This next song I wrote in my 20s… after my first divorce,” insinuating that the song brought up painful memories from her divorce from actor Russel Brand and now a signifier of the end of her relationship with longtime partner,...

The pop star, 40, performed to a packed crowd at the Kia Forum on Tuesday night (July 15) with many special guests in attendance.
“You know it’s going to be a good show. You know this because I slept in my own bed! I ordered my favorite breakfast burrito from Dialog Cafe!” Katy told her fans at the beginning of her five-minute speech.
“What an honor and a privilege it is that you chose to spend your Tuesday night with me. A Tuesday, the most underappreciated night of the week and here we are packing out The Forum. Sometimes, love stories don’t just unravel; they unravel with the subtle grace of a wildfire in a dry forest. As the saying goes, even the brightest stars can flicker under pressure, and Katy Perry’s 2024 has been a constellation of misfires. From her single, Woman’s World, turning into an unexpected joke, to the 143 album that critics barely tolerated (posted via @no_longer_huhman/ Reddit), things have gone from ‘meh’ to ‘mayday’.
The Lifetimes tour didn’t help much either. And now, rumors of her and Orlando Bloom’s breakup are louder than ever. Insiders tell People that frustration over reviews and album reception has strained their engagement since 2019. Stress like this could be smoothed over with therapy, but according to a blunt source speaking to Page Six, “It’s over”.

Following the largely negative reviews of her September 2024 album 143, pop star Katy Perry’s relationship with her partner, Orlando Bloom, has reportedly become tense.
Perry and Bloom started dating in 2016 and had a strobe-light romance for years before they were engaged in 2019. Originally planning to get married in 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic delayed their nuptials, and neither Perry nor Bloom has commented on plans for a ceremony or marriage status since. The two share a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy.
An inside source recently told People, “Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album…it made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.”
Another source shared, “She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It’s put stress on their relationship.”
Although 143 was an indisputable flop, Perry has had no problem selling concert tickets to her Lifetimes world tour, and since it kicked off in April,...

The short is directed by rising Australian helmer Amy Leonard, who worked alongside Dunham on her upcoming Netflix series “Too Much,” from the debut script by Jody Wiltshire. Casting was led by Sacha Garrett and the rest of the ensemble includes Chiyo Kenn Gomes, Elliot Douglas, Francis Ezekiel and Paul Longley.

In mid-March, Jill Sobule arrived at her friend Michelle Lewis’ home in L.A. to write songs with Lewis and her co-writing partner, former Letters to Cleo frontperson Kay Hanley. Calling themselves Sugar Tits, the three had collaborated periodically over the years. As Lewis and Hanley learned right away, Sobule had one tune already in hand: a sly ditty filled with words that rhymed with “unt” (“runt,” “blunt,” “grunt,” “Emily Blunt,” and so on). One chorus ended, teasingly, with “J.D. Vance is a …” Only in the last chorus did Sobule...

The music industry was shocked this week upon the news that groundbreaking singer-songwriter Jill Sobule died in a house fire outside of Minneapolis on Thursday at age 66. Sobule, beloved among the songwriter community and known for her political activism, broke through in the ’90s with songs like “I Kissed a Girl” and “Supermodel.” The former was the first openly gay song to crack the top 20 on the Billboard charts, the latter was featured in the 1995 film Clueless.
Among the many friends of Sobule still in disbelief is Michelle Lewis, a longtime friend and the CEO of the Songwriters of North America (Sona). Lewis and Sobule wrote frequently together since the pair met in the mid-2000s. She was preparing to see Sobule soon before she heard the news of Sobule’s passing, as Sobule was supposed to stay at Lewis’s home in Los Angeles next week when she came into town.

LGBTQ audiences who wanted visibility in pop culture had it tough for most of 1995, when Morrissey’s “Boy Racer” was about as explicit as things got (“He’s just too good-looking…”). Two years before Ellen DeGeneres came out to a network TV audience of millions, several fresh shoots appeared in an otherwise largely barren field. Katy Perry’s return from space was anything but ordinary. After becoming part of a history-making all-female Blue Origin mission, she literally touched back down to earth physically and emotionally. That kiss she planted on the ground, still clad in her sleek blue flight suit, said more than words ever could.
With a daisy in hand, her first steps out of the capsule weren’t just symbolic; they were deeply personal, a tribute to her daughter, Daisy, and a quiet nod to being “strong,” “powerful,” and “resilient.”

Fans of Katy Perry might now have someone to point fingers to for her recent work with Dr. Luke. In a recent The Manager’s Playbook interview, the singer’s A&r manager Chris Anokute said that it was his “desire” to reconnect Perry with the disgraced producer for her album 143.
“I think there was some backlash on her reuniting with Dr. Luke, which was my desire,” Anokute claimed. (Skip to 1:30:00 into the video below.) “[It was] my recommendation for her to get back into the studio with Luke because Luke is a dear friend.

The nominations have been revealed for the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards, and one critically acclaimed LGBTQ+ film is notably absent from the pack of nominees.
The annual awards ceremony will return for a 36th year in 2025. According to GLAAD, it’s goal is to “recognize and honor fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community in an ever-expanding and media landscape.”
On Wednesday (January 22), the organization revealed the crop of nominees that would be honored at the ceremony. While projects such as Wicked and Queer were notably featured, Netflix’s Emilia Perez was left off the list.
The snub comes after GLAAD declared that the movie, which stars Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez and trans actress Karla Sofia Gascon, was “not good trans representation” in a November 2024 essay. The story included reviews from transgender film critics and noted that “inauthentic portrayals of trans people are offensive and even dangerous.”

Videoland, a streaming platform owned by Rtl Netherlands, will produce a Dutch adaptation of the popular dating show “I Kissed a Girl.” The format features single queer women searching for romance. The local version will be the first produced outside of the original UK series.
Laurens Woldberg, managing director of ITV Studios Netherlands which will produce the show, said the adaptation “offers great entertainment and an important platform for representation.” He explained it will showcase diverse relationships and help increase LGBTQ+ visibility on Dutch television.
The show follows women paired through compatibility testing. Their first interaction is a kiss to see if they feel a spark. This determines how their time on the show will unfold. Casting for the Dutch series is currently underway. It will film in 2025 and premiere exclusively on Videoland.
The success of the UK version streaming on Videoland suggests audiences in the Netherlands want more inclusive content.

With Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man set to show Peter Parker's origin once again, the hero will be reset to his teen years. The Marvel Cinematic Universe series is set in an alternate timeline where Norman Osborn is Peter's mentor instead of Tony Stark, more like in the comics or the first of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man films. The series stars Hudson Thames, reprising the role of Spider-Man after voicing him in Marvel's What... If?, along with Coleman Domingo as Norman Osborn, Kari Wahlgren as May Parker, Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius, and more. It will also feature Charlie Cox's Daredevil.
When considering what a teenage Spider-Man series should be like, the first word that comes to mind is fun. Peter is still getting the hang of heroism at this point in his journey, and his navet and lightheartedness are equal parts endearing and entertaining. A clip from YouTuber Bbwb...

She’s judged wannabes on American Idol; she’s headlined the Super Bowl halftime show; she’s celebrated a king’s coronation. She’s done it all, backwards and in heels.
