The Turning Point: XCLD: The Story of Cancel Culture

Public shaming is not new. But the internet is. Therefore ordinary people have more access to participate in public shaming than ever before. That was my takeaway, but the filmmaker, Ferne Pearlstein, who usually works as a cinematographer made an enjoyable to look at well paced show that invites many different voices to share their experience. From comedians to historians. I thought that I knew a little bit about cancel culture but I learned a lot more in a pretty entertaining way from this 44 min doc. I especially liked the "safe space" box that they put up where passersby could reveal who they would "uncancel" in secret~ I like all the one star ratings this doc got. It seems some people don't know that 1-10 allows for more nuance than yes or no. It seems more and more movies reviewed on IMDB are getting an odd number of 1 and 10 star ratings. I hope people aren't too confused by all the stars they can choose from!
