Nimitta Matra is an amazing film. But I feel this film got lost because it was hit by a wave of films releasing the same day and the hype of another hindi film.
I am sure the makers are wondering what they did wrong but I am here to tell you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Nimitta Matra. Infact I would go as far as telling you guys to re release the film so that the film gets the proper time and screens to showcase this brilliant thriller.
Perfect screenplay, crisp editing and amazing visuals. What else do you need in a thriller? A high potential film lost in the crowd is what I would say.

If I have to review, I can only say its mindblowing. But since this deserves a lot more explaination, I ll try to remember some of the details that I loved the most about the story
1. The arc about the kids death - this was super interesting and when there was a reveal about something bigger a little later, that blew my mind
2. The experimentation arc - this was totally new to me. I didn't even know that this happened. Although i know most of it is fictionalised, this was super fresh and eciting to watch.
3. The climax - what blew my mind was this. The reveal and the way it was handled was something really amazing. This made the film bigger than what it actually is. I loved this part the most.
So without giving away spoilers, I will view this film again on OTT to notice more of directors nuances.
Over all the BGM was standing out for me which made this an even better watch on the big screen. On a smaller screen I think this might sound like a lot but I totally enjoyed it and it clealry show that it was indeed made for the big screen.
I rate this 8 out of 10. I want to give a 9 but Poorna was not upto the mark for me in this. He does not suit this role. He must go back to his aloof characters that he plays.

A small budget movie on a subject like parapsychology, from a debutant independent filmmaker/writer, with a debutant actress taking center stage along with seasoned theater pros holding the whole movie together. What could go wrong? And could a lot go right?
Seems like a whole lot has gone right with this one! The story is gripping, fast paced and has a hold of your attention throughout, while at the back of your head you are wondering what the climax is going to be like. And wow! Doesn't the climax deliver!
I have very little to criticize in this one because the movie gets all the basics of it's genre spot on! It's got great pace for a suspense/thriller movie, good background score, beautiful cinematography, great editing, acting and then the most important of all, the story keeps you engaged for the full 2hrs. If I absolutely had to pick something that I may not have liked then sure, there are certain bits and transitions I may not have loved. And that could be because I'm mostly using the Hiranis/the Neels/the Bansalis/the Sanders/the Abrams and the Nolans as a baseline and the way the story plays out on screen, this one is not far off from that target when comparing to greats that demand and deliver perfection in every scene. And then I have to keep reminding myself that this story is being delivered by a young 30-something debutant writer/director on a teensy budget, that is costing less than a 30-40 site in Bengaluru!
So to sum up, the movie really shines with its story, memorable characters thanks largely to good acting, dialogue delivery and that climax! A beautifully written song in the middle of the movie along with beautiful shots of Mangaluru brings down the pace just about enough, allowing you to catch your breath for a little while before you get back on the fast paced train till the very end!
Keeping everything said above in mind, I would rate this in two ways, making two comparisons to what we see the industry churning out today. In a sea of mundane movies of love stories/family drama that is rinsed and repeated, this is quite a breath of fresh air and for that, I give it a superb 10/10. And when you compare it with some of the excellent content coming out thanks to platforms like Netflix/Prime/Zee supporting independent artists and scripts, this one that's created, built and executed by an independent team, certainly scores a solid 9/10!
With a little bit of luck and the right exposure, Nimitta Matra could be a killer in 2025!

I just watched Nimitta Matra... and WOW. I'm honestly still trying to process what I experienced. Why did I miss this in the theatres is the only thing I was thinking. This film completely took me by surprise-it's one of kfi's rare cinematic gems that grabs you from the very first scene and doesn't let go until the final frame. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!
The storytelling is absolutely next level. Mr Director, take a bow. What a story, what writing. Every scene feels intentional, every dialogue hits the right note, and the way the narrative unfolds-it's like peeling back layers of something much deeper than just a story. I was hooked, emotionally invested, and genuinely moved.
What really blew me away was the narration. It flows so effortlessly, taking you on this incredible emotional journey-sometimes intense, sometimes subtle, but always gripping. I found myself feeling everything the characters were going through. The pacing is brilliant. There's not a single dull moment.
And the cast? Perfectly chosen. Every actor fits their role so naturally, it almost feels like you're watching real people live through real situations. The performances are powerful without being over-the-top, and the chemistry between the characters just makes it all feel even more authentic.
But the REAL knockout punch? That twist at the end. I did not see it coming. It's the kind of twist that gives you chills and makes you rethink the entire film from a new perspective. It's haunting, it's brilliant, and it's done so masterfully that I was left sitting in silence, trying to wrap my head around it. That ending will stay with me for a long, long time.
Nimitta Matra is not a movie-it's an experience. It's philosophical, emotional, suspenseful, and utterly unforgettable. I can't stop thinking about it, and I genuinely can't recommend it enough. If you love films that challenge you, surprise you, and stay with you well after the credits roll-please watch this. You won't regret it.
I'm already planning to watch it again on OTT on a big projector.

Not even for a second I even blinked watching this film. I was weaving connections who is the killer. Then the story took so much twist and turns that I could not even guess what would happen. Then the climax was so shocking to me that I was like what.. I didn't even guess this. I don't want to spoil your experience so I will not reveal the ending. But you have to watch this film for the end only.
Highlights of this film according to me - 1. Super story, screenplay and fast edit 2. Music is awesome 3. Climax is mind blowing 4. Lead actress is super acting
I will watch it again next week to enjoy this thrill again.
