Breaking Tradition

Decided to check this one out a few days ago while I was mindlessly scrolling through Tubi, and I don't regret it!

Watch this movie! It's a well-made drama that centers around two pretty interesting and unique characters (Danny Smith and Farina). They were very compelling characters, and I also found the Mr. Khan character to be a standout as well.

I just really enjoy the perspective of this movie, as it's entertaining while also giving me an insight into the Muslim experience. If you need a Tubi (which, as a reminder, is FREE!) movie to watch, then I definitely recommend giving this one a shot. You won't regret it.

This film is on the lower budget side, the acting is mid-level, the editing is kind of piecey, and the pacing is a bit rushed. But even so the story is really impactful. I felt really shocked and affected by it. So I think it does its job despite being a lower budget film.

It shows the sad reality of the Muslim faith and the conflict that Muslim people can be at with each other over how to interpret and live that faith. It also shows the dangerous brainwashing that can happen to foreign women who marry Muslim men. Multiple perpetrators in this film where women who had clearly converted bc they married Muslim husbands.and caves to their influence. Their part in the film is quite awful.
