Reviewers say 'Fear' is a polarizing TV series with strong performances, particularly praised for its psychological horror elements and exceptional acting. However, others found the plot predictable, filled with plot holes, and lacking originality. The pacing was criticized as slow, and some felt the story was unremarkable and unengaging. Complaints about the lack of character development and confusing plot points were also noted. Despite the strong performances, the series received mixed reviews.

The star of this show has to be the gorgeous townhouse. The rest of it is pretty unremarkable. The pacing is a bit slow, and the story unoriginal.
Although the acting is fine, the script doesn't give them much to work with. Nothing really interesting occurs, you could actually miss large bits of the first two episodes and just continue watching without missing anything important.
I'm not really invested in the main characters. The husband is not particularly likeable, and the wife is somewhat dull.
Finally, the ending doesn't make a load of sense. Surely selling the place would have been a much better solution?

Comston's character is not one I could find any sympathy with. Came across as hot tempered as well as a would be social climber a bit prone to telling porkies. The 'wonderful' house was coldly empty and mausoleum-like and would have taken some heating in Scottish winters. I think the 'ballistic trigger' for any basement tennant would have been the constant din through the ceiling from the floor above! Nothing seemed to come of his wife discovering the message on her husband's phone from a would be female admirer. I think that would have played as big a part in the friction as the weirdo in the basement. Five because it kept me watching.
Gave this a chance but...middle class family move into big house in I think, Glasgow. He Scottish she posh English and English kids. Dialogue dull and possibly written by AI. Creepy guy in basement, creepy from the off so there's no surprise when he turns out to be creepy. His so called business as an architect is, again, mechanical with buzz words and meaningless business expressions. Utterly without any atmosphere. She meets similarly entitled friend for lunch. Dull dull dull dull. No tension, no personality. I thought 'why doesn't he just kill them all with a rusty ax and get it over with' Good money is being spent on this pointless, bland, predictable dross.
I spent the best part of 3 hours hoping the family would ignore the nuisance of a neighbour downstairs and get around to furnishing and decorating their house to make it a home instead of an austere cold shell. I was also wondering how much a window cleaner and a cleaner would cost. Yes it was that slow and boring to watch. At the end of 3 episodes it is not clear to me who were the characters I am supposed to like? Nor what is the moral of the story if there is one? Apart from being left wondering how much window cleaners cost in Glasgow, I think it would have been interesting to find out if the previous owners of the house had had similar experiences. My recommendation is 3 stars because there is only enough interesting content for 1 episode.
It's a run of the mill bill-payer for all concerned. Predictable garbage. Mick Ford the writer has done much better work, which wouldn't be hard in this case. The dialogue is old and the acting embarrassingly formulaic.
I can't believe the actors involved would go for this nonsense. It's just like so many similar themed series before it, but it has no redeeming qualities of itself. I'm struggling to find the necessary 600 words to complete this review.
Predictable, unchallenging, and an insult to the viewer. Like I said, it's earning money for them but in the most shameless way possible. Dreadful.
