Susan Sarandon Will Make London Stage Debut Starring With Andrea Riseborough In Tracy Letts Play ‘Mary Page Marlowe’
Image
Oscar winner Susan Sarandon said she’s “terrified but excited” to be making her UK stage debut this fall at London’s The Old Vic Theatre starring with Academy Award nominee Andrea Riseborough in the U.K. premiere of Tracy Letts’ play Mary Page Marlowe which spans 70 years in a woman’s life.

Sarandon and Riseborough will play the title character at different stages of her story.

The production will be directed by The Old Vic’s artistic director Matthew Warchus in his final season before stopping down in September 2026.

Sarandon has appeared both on and off Broadway several times beginning with An Evening with Richard Nixon and … that ran 16 performances at the Shubert Theatre in 1972. She last trod the boards in NYC in Jesse Eisenberg’s Happy Talk at the Pershing Square Signature center in 2019.

I saw her in Eisenberg’s play.

Moreover, it also gave viewers a glimpse into just how entertaining musical anime can be. So, for those wanting to explore more of the genre, there are five musical anime series that will not only satisfy their craving but will also expose them to just how much more the genre has to offer.

1. Symphogear

When it comes to similarities, Symphogear might be closest to KPop Demon Hunters in essence.

21 Years After Flopping, Keira Knightley's Underrated Fantasy Film Is Heading to a New Streaming Home
Image
Keira Knightley made her debut in the early 2000s, where she had a series of iconic roles. Whether it was her brief but cult classic-worthy appearance in Love Actually, her badass role in Pirates of the Caribbean, or the iconic Elizabeth Bennett in Pride & Prejudice, Knightley owned the 2000s.

Just before she played Elizabeth to perfection in almost everyone's favorite version of the Jane Austen novel, she played another iconic character: Guinevere. Knightley starred in the highly underrated historical fantasy King Arthur in 2004, a film that didn't live up to her usual success. However, 21 years later, King Arthur has a new chance to be discovered by a new generation as it's officially heading to Hulu on July 1, per When to Stream.

King Arthur reimagined the legendary hero as a Roman officer instead of the typical medieval knight. The producers attempted to sell the film as a more historically accurate...

You’ll Never Guess What the ‘Pride & Prejudice’ Cast Did For Its Most Iconic Scene
Image
In order to get the perfect shot in a movie, that sometimes means waking up at dawn, or worse, before dawn. The cast in the scene, the crew involved to prep, the director, everyone up when the last thing people are thinking of is being conscious. In the 2005 adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, Pride & Prejudice, one of the most iconic scenes was filmed at, you guessed it, the crack of dawn. It's the scene where Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) confesses his love to Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) as the morning sun rises. Macfadyen's Darcy utters the swoon-worthy iconic words, "You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love... I love... I love you."

Despite the intimacy of the one-on-one scene between Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy, in actuality, in addition to of course, the crew, Knightley and Macfadyen weren't as long as the scene would suggest. In a recent Variety's Actors on Actors,...

One Of 2025's Best (And Most Important) Documentaries Is Taking Over HBO Max
Image
As Pride Month 2025 gets underway, it's difficult to know how to feel. With news stories about members of the U.S. government passing anti-trans laws or bolstering anti-lgbtq+ sentiment popping up on a near-daily basis, the obvious response is for queer people and their allies to be louder and prouder than ever. But that's easier said than done, especially when incidents like actor Jonathan Joss' death as the result of an alleged hate crime are a stark reminder that the mere act of existing can still be enough to get queer people killed.

The question of how to live as a queer person, whether your life is constantly under a microscope or not, lies at the heart of "Pee-wee as Himself." Director Matt Wolf's two-part documentary about the life and times of the late and, it should go without saying, great Paul Reubens has been garnering universal praise since making...

Keira Knightley Unapologetically Claims Her 87%-Rated Role Leaves The Original in Dust
Image
Keira Knightley rose to fame with her role in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. She established herself as a commercially viable leading lady in the 2000s, having appeared in a string of hit films in the past couple of decades. However, one of her most memorable roles came in Pride & Prejudice.

In the 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen’s popular novel, Knightley appeared as Elizabeth “Lizzy” Bennet. During an interview, Knightley spoke about her role in the movie and noted how it improves upon the original in one major way. Here is why Keira Knightley felt the 2005 version of Elizabeth was better than the original Pride & Prejudice character.

Keira Knightley on her Pride & Prejudice character being an improvement on Jane Austen’s original

Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice is one of the most revered pieces of literature. Despite being published in the 1800s, the book remains relevant because of its feminist ideas.

A key NCIS: New Orleans character could be coming to NCIS: Origins
Image
We still have a ways to go until NCIS: Origins season 2 airs, but we’re already looking forward to who we may eventually see from the original NCIS pop up on screen. With the season one finale introducing us to a younger Lara Macy, who else might we expect?

Over the two-decade span of the show’s run, NCIS has brought us so many different characters we have come to know and love. Many of them had a past interaction with Gibbs, like Macy, who we knew had investigated Gibbs for the Hernandez murder.

NCIS: Origins brought this arc to life, and now that we know, we will also get to know Gibbs’s second wife, Diane. The showrunners teased another possible appearance by someone from NCIS: Origins.

Dwayne Pride had been introduced to the franchise as one of five fellow law enforcement officers who worked together with Gibbs on a case involving a killer.

‘The Smashing Machine’ Trailer: Dwayne Johnson Gets into the Ring as Controversial Mma Legend Mark Kerr

Dwayne Johnson is smashing stereotypes with A24 feature “The Smashing Machine.” The actor, who is set to also star in Martin Scorsese’s Hawaii-set true crime mob drama, is first making his indie debut with Benny Safdie’s biopic about UFC legend Mark Kerr. Emily Blunt, Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten, and Oleksandr Usyk co-star.

Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions acquired the rights to “The Smashing Machine” in 2019. A24 later joined as a partner in 2023. Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions produce alongside Safdie’s Out for the Count banner, Eli Bush, Hiram Garcia, and David Koplan. The film marks Safdie’s first solo directing effort sans brother Josh Safdie; Benny Safdie also penned the script based on Kerr’s real-life story and rise in the UFC. Dwayne Johnson brings the pain as Mma legend Mark Kerr in a new poster for The Smashing Machine
Image
Dwayne Johnson is prepared to drop an elbow on his opponents in a new poster for The Smashing Machine, an upcoming film about Mma icon Mark Kerr from Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems) and A24. Who’s ready to sweat and leave some blood on the mat?

Mark Kerr is a former American wrestler and mixed martial artist. As a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion, World Vale Tudo Championship tournament winner, a Pride Fc Heavyweight Champion, 1992 NCAA National Wrestling Champion, 1994 National Freestyle Champion, and 4x Adcc World Submission Champion, Kerr is one of the biggest badasses to ever get into the ring.

In addition to his directorial duties, Benny Safdie is co-writing The Smashing Machine script, which focuses on Kerr’s struggle with addiction, victory, love, and friendship in the year 2000. Likely to veer into more severe territory, The Smashing Machine gives Johnson a rare opportunity to flex his drama muscles for cameras.

Being the first (and only) Black driver in F1 history, Hamilton set a blazing inspiration for those who dream of following in his footsteps. The 7-time world champion has little to complain of after his brilliant career and legacy in the sport, but when it comes to one rival, Hamilton is not as level-headed as he likes to be.

Let’s Be Honest: We Will All Watch the Prequel Spinoff on the Only Character That Carried Seven Deadly Sins
Image
After five long seasons, Seven Deadly Sins concluded in 2021. Although the series was hailed as one of its kind at its earliest, it sort of fell off during the latter seasons. However, the show supposedly made up for lost time with all its blazing glory during the last season.

Escanor in the Seven Deadly Sins | Credits: A-1 Pictures and Studio Deen

The major reason behind that was, of course, Escanor, the Lion Sin of Pride being its focal point. Although his storyline unfortunately ended with his death, the literal embodiment of Sunshine made his demise worthwhile by going out in a blaze of glory.

As such, there is one thing the divided fan base seems to agree on. That is, a prequel spin-off focusing on Escanor, and how he came to be the Lion Sin of Pride.

A Seven Deadly Sins prequel spin-off about Escanor would be the best thing...

What Did Anakin Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi Do Between The Phantom Menace & Attack Of The Clones?
Image
Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi are two of the biggest characters in all of Star Wars, but what exactly were they doing between Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones? The prequel trilogy has become one of the most important periods in the Star Wars timeline. This era saw not only the near extinction of the Jedi but also the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire, making it essential to most Star Wars movies and TV shows.

Yet, many gaps remain even within the prequel trilogy timeline. Little is known about the period between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones in particular, as shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars have filled in other years during this era. This was a critical period for Obi-Wan and Anakin, though, as this was when the...

‘Mufasa’ Star Tiffany Boone Dreaded Singing. Now She’s on the Oscar Shortlist for Best Original Song
Image
Tiffany Boone was done with voiceover auditions when the script for an unspecified lioness landed in her inbox.

“I just thought I was so bad at voiceovers,” Boone confesses. “I’d been trying for years and never booked a single thing. I quit probably a year or two before I got this audition — obviously, my agents didn’t listen and sent me this anyway.”

She owes her agents a thank-you note. Boone, 37, not only landed a part in the Disney prequel Mufasa: The Lion King, but was cast as central figure Sarabi, the queen of Pride Rock, otherwise known as Mufasa’s mate (and Simba’s future mom).

It was, to hear Boone tell it, kismet, seeing as how The Lion King was her favorite film growing up. “I’m not lying,” she says. “Lion King was number one. Number two was Aladdin. And number three was Beauty and the Beast.

Mufasa Confirms A Live-Action The Lion King 2 Would Be Very Different From Simba's Pride
Image
The following contains spoilers for Mufasa: The Lion King, now playing in theatersMufasa: The Lion King sets the stage for a potential adaptation of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, but the ending of the new film means any remake of that sequel would be very different. Mufasa: The Lion King establishes the future of the Pridelands after the events of The Lion King. While most of the film is centered on Simba's father in his youth, the ending of Mufasa: The Lion King reintroduces audiences the state of the Pridelands in the years following 2019's remake of The Lion King. This includes a formal introduction to Simba and Nala's daughter, Kiara.

That focus on Kiara could be seen as a tease for The Lion King's future on the big-screen, as she was the central character in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. This makes it one...

Simba and Nala reveal a new son at the end of Mufasa: The Lion King, expanding the franchise with a future protagonist. Picking up after the events of 2019's The Lion King movie, Mufasa sees Simba and Nala's daughter Kiara interacting with Timon, Pumbaa, and Rafiki. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang | Matilda and Pride’s Matthew Warchus to direct new version
Matthew Warchus
Amazon and Eon are bringing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang back to the screen, and Matthew Warchus has signed up to direct the movie.

Eon Productions might be taking its time over wherever the James Bond saga is going next, but it’s got a different Ian Fleming-linked project up and running with Amazon MGM. Seems to be coming together a bit quicker, too.

As had been reported over the last week or so, a reimagined take on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is now heading towards the start line. Enda Walsh – who wrote Small Things Like These – is writing the screenplay for the new movie, and Ian Fleming’s novel will be the basis of the script.

We now learn too that things are sparking into life at speed. Matthew Warchus has signed on the dotted line to direct the movie, his first since Roald Dahl’s Matilda: The Musical a couple of years back.
