I see lot of hatred and negative comments for this movie, which is sad. I have seen some real mediocre movies surprisingly getting high rating. This movie is much much better than a typical Hollywood or Bollywood 'romance' movie that usually gets over-rated. And this is coming from an Indian movie buff who lives in the West.
I watched this film fully and honestly gelt good at the end. It is from a Middle Eastern culture. I am not contesting the cultural accuracy depicted here, but the film definitely touches basic human emotions. The leading actors have done well. Particularly the leading man, very good expressions! And of course congratulations to the whole crew for this hard work! It is nice to see such good work coming from a small country like Kuwait. Please showcase more movies showing your core culture, if possible from your core society. I got some cultural shock concepts from this film like "marrying one's own cousin!"
I had no idea Lebanon is this beautiful! So now I have kept it in my travel bucket list!
World needs to see different perspectives other than typical stuff bombarded to us on NetFlix!

I watched this movie out of curiosity. "Romantic Comedy" and "Kuwait" are not words you usually think of together. Also I wanted to see how much romance would make it into a Kuwaiti movie.
"Honeymoonish" is flawed but it has its moments. The best thing in the movie is the male lead, Mahmoud Boushahri, as Hamad. Bousharhri is bursting with charm and charisma and he is very handsome.
Hamad is the serious and ambitious son of a wealthy businessman. His father tells Hamad that he must marry in order to advance in the company.
Boushahri perfectly captures Hamad's seriousness and ambition.
Noor (Noor Al Ghandour) is a fitness teacher who loves Youssef. Youssef dumps Noor because he is forced to marry his cousin, as is customary in their culture. To get back at Youssef, Noor wants to marry immediately. Her needs and Hamad's needs meet, and they marry, though they met only once.
The movie gets bogged down in repetitive scenes of Noor yearning for Youssef and Noor having over the top temper tantrums. She yells and screams a lot and her instability and childishness is unattractive. The script writers clearly don't have a positive view of women. Not surprising given the cultural context.
But Boushahri's charisma and his chemistry with Noor work very well for the film. Also, the film is a fun watch because of all the fantasy settings -- Middle Eastern playgrounds of the idle rich. Swanky hotels and beaches.
Noor Al Ghandour, the female lead, is gorgeous and she really deserves a better script that shows a tad more respect for a female lead. And less lip filler, please.
I wish I could watch another film with these two leads.

Both leads are not from Kuwait plus to much different dialect the sub was not good like u know Netflix. The female was fakeing to much her acting was way to unreal. The way they copying western culture is unbelievable.

The movie has nothing to do with Kuwaiti culture, the leading lady has excessive makeup and botox in every scene and her acting is a complete disgrace, the movie is really a complete waste of time, I think you should stay away from this movie, I can't even call it a movie, a three-year-old child could write a better script. The leading lady's acting is so bad, it's as if she came to this movie just to show herself, she struggles badly to show herself in every scene with her bad makeup and exaggerated botox. Netflix presents this to people as a movie; but this nonsense has nothing to do with Kuwaiti Culture and the lives of the people living there.
I love watching movies from parts of the world I only know through news reports. Gorgeous scenery and real chemistry between the two leads. It is a story that's been told hundreds of times but not from this country. The whole sister mystery was very strange but only from my western point of view. And I liked that Noor was an active, athletic woman. The only thing I couldn't understand was what she saw in her ex boyfriend, he seemed like a dull, possessive blockhead.
So if you are open-minded and like a breezy Kuwaiti rom-com, you will enjoy this movie. It has an innocence to it that I love about international films.
