La scomparsa di Bruno Breguet

A very straightforward documentary about the once-controversial, now-forgotten leftist Swiss "terrorist" Bruno Breguet that mainly distunguishes itself by not performatively distancing itself from its left-wing subject matter - courtesy of the involvement of some refreshingly unrepentant pension-age veterans of Switzerland's post-1968 left - and by offering a much-needed (if underexplored) reflection on how there's a direct line between the Cold War years' terrorism discourse and present-day Europe's violent antipathy towards climate activists. On a more granular level, I'm particularly fascinated by how the story of Breguet serves as an emblem of Switzerland's collective memory-holing of its not-too-distant tradition of radical idealism. Is at its strongest when it does what it promises on the tin: investigate the disappearance of a complex but interesting man whose story seems to have been largely forgotten.
