Sharon Hinnendael in Embrace of the Vampire (2013)
Sharon Hinnendael (“Look”) stars as Charlotte, a timid and sheltered teen who has just left an all-girls Catholic school for a new life at a co-ed university. But an ancient evil has followed her here, tormenting her with disturbing nightmares and tempting her with forbidden desires. It is a hunger that can only be satiated by sensual pleasures of the flesh…and a thirst for blood. It’s a battle for her soul… and one she’s losing. But Charlotte is a fighter. The chaos and torment threatens to unleash her own inner beast, and anyone even close to her may find themselves embracing their own horrific fate. Tiio Horn (“Defiance,” “Hemlock Grove”), C.C. Sheffield (“True Blood”), Chelsey Marie Reist (12 Rounds: Reloaded) and Victor Webster (“Continuum”) co-star in this startling remake of the ‘90s erotic horror classic.

    More Stefan, please

Simply put: Less T&A and more Stefan. Victor Webster plays a fang-tactic vamp, but I wish he was in the story more. It would've been nice to see him shirtless to make up for the T&A heavy movie.

This remake is not quite as erotic as the original. It's actually borderline softcore porn at times. If I recall the original, there were plenty of dream sequences between Alyssa Milano and Martin Kemp, which helped build anticipation. This film, on the contrary, didn't build that anticipation enough. There was hardly any chemistry between Stefan and Charlotte. Also, Charlotte's constant delusions and/or flashbacks took too much time from the movie.

The scenery, although beautiful, seems heavily influenced by the Twilight films -- rain, dense forests and mountains minus a pack of wolves.

It's a decent effort compared to many recent vampire flicks( Kiss of the Damned might be the best one released in the last decade). Victor Webster made this film enjoyable, but barely.

    Lame Story

The virgin and repressed Charlotte Hawthorn (Sharon Hinnendael) joins the university from a Catholic school with a scholarship for participating in the fencing team. She shares the room with Nicole (Kaniehtiio Horn) and tells that her mother died and she is alone. Charlotte has thalassemia and is forced to use medicine. She gets a job working as waitress in a coffee shop managed by Chris (Ryan Kennedy). Soon she meets the fencing coach, who is also responsible for the literature classes, Professor Cole (Victor Webster), and her mate Eliza (C.C. Sheffield) becomes jealous with his treatment toward Charlotte. Soon she has daydreams and the mystic Daciana (Keegan Connor Tracy) that is the owner of a store explains her fate in world as a vampire hunter, but Charlotte does not believe in her until her friends die.

"Embrace of the Vampire" is a movie with a lame story. It is watchable mainly because of the scenes with the naked girls. But the acting is terrible and the conclusion is weak. My vote is four.

    Surprisingly Decent

Was expecting a Skinemax style mindless soft-core kinda movie, but this one exceeded my expectations. As a B-movie enthusiast, I watch a lot of terrible movies for fun. The plot, while not terribly original, was different enough from the usual vampire fare to keep me interested. For most of the first two thirds, there was enough going on to keep the ending from being too predictable, but after the reveal the resolution was pretty standard and a little disappointing. The acting wasn't anything special, but managed not to detract from the movie.

Overall, this was much better than I was expecting. As a bonus, there was plenty of eye candy and a very nice lesbian scene. In my opinion, this one was actually better than the original.

    Not embracing the movie

This is a remake of the 1995 movie starring Alyssa Milano as Charlotte. You expect a remake would be good but this is not the case. Just like the original it was very bad. I have nothing good to write about this movie except the lesbian scene, the rest are all garbage. The female character in this movie is played by Sharon Hinnendael as Charlotte Hawthorn. Her character reminds me of Bella Swan from Twilight, shy and a quite girl. However she can't act and so are the rest of the cast member. Also the story line is so lame I could not bare to watch without pausing every 10 minutes. If you seen the original there's no point of seeing this movie, unless you skip to the " good part ".

    Even more sucking

No pun intended - this is me trying to connect this to the 90s movie with the same title. But there are not that many connections to be made. I reckon the central part of the story is similar. But there are many differences too. Not sure if that is sufficient to not call this a remake. A reimagination then? Well you decide that.

There is again a lot of nudity and some blood that is shed. Particularly one lesbian scene, that contains both is quite intriguing. But it is also one of the few highlights the movie contains. There is not that much to get you too excited (no pun intended here either). Beautiful people, though I doubt many if any of them will ever become as famous or known as some of the stars of the "original" movie.

There is not much to say here, other than it looks good (visually, and again no pun intended), but lacks some substance. The key romantic love story is missing from the original, but as I said, this tries to spin something new with some of the perimeters it got from the other movie. Not sure if there is a novel they are based on (wouldn't surprise me), so can't make any comparisons if there is. It also seems inclined to use some of the vampire mythology that the other movie did not even look at ... for better or worse.

When Charlotte comes into her dorm room after waking up from a bad dream outside, her roommate's room-divider is placed oddly in front of her nightstand. Charlotte runs into the bathroom and when she comes out, the room divider has moved where it should logically be located, from the wall edge on the outside edge of the nightstand.
