Watching it felt like an inside joke only the directors/produces were in on, also an excuse to go on a vacation using some kind of movie productions money.
The story is a bit all over the place. Best way to describe it is, a Miami-Borat version of El Cabo from El Cartel goes to Colombia to be a tourist.
My main issue with the movie is the music. I did not here one Grupo Niche song or anything from the era Pablo was from. As a matter of fact its modern Latin music and the tracks were just terrible taste. They did not sound good and too much music in scenes. To enhance the theme of Pablo/Medellín they should have had Grupo Niche songs in the movie.
On the flip side, its good movie to watch if learning Spanish, because the guy playing the main character is obviously a primarily English speaker, thus the way he talks is not fast and easy to understand rather a primary Spanish speaker. And the character is original. The overall appearance/costume of the character was cool. But the whole movie had this feel of a movie company on vacation in Colombia and kinda coming up with this character/story as an excuse to get the funding for the trip.
There is room for a sequel if they wanted to show him back in Miami but they have to re-watch, see what they did wrong but there is an opportunity to build on this film as its foundation.
