From the Sky

This short film moved me more than anything I have seen for a very long time. This simple yet immensely powerful story depicts father and son coping with their terrifying world of being targeted by drone strikes. The son, Abbas, has been traumatized by the devastation and randomness of the drones, and the film focuses on the differing views of Abbas and his father on how to respond to war. Having set up camp, these views are embellished by the arrival of two visitors. The philosophical conversations in the film discuss the rights and wrongs of conflict and retaliation, and the ending left me literally on the edge of my seat as Abbas has a crucial decision to make. Powerful, emotional and thought provoking. Can't recommend it enough.

...maybe, in the best manner. the result - a film who is easy to define as admirable work, provocative, philosophical, great, touching. because it is so simple than it gives all the answers. it is a film about life. and the right way to respond to its changelling. it is a film about faith. not exactly as religious feeling but as the source of meaning of life. it reminds the Oriental stories. but its wisdom could not be reduced at dialogues. because the truth remains, alwaise, obscure. and this is one of the great virtues of this short film.
