Lupin III: Princess of the Breeze

This sounds like a match made in heaven. I love Lupin, and I love Castle in the Sky. These should go together like ham and cheese. What holds this back from a higher rating? A lot of things, but in short... the baby.

Why is the baby in so many scenes of this movie. The baby can't be an interesting character, he's a baby. And I know this movie isn't crazy enough to kill off a baby. Every time the baby is in an action scene, it's basically a force field for the heroes. There is a 3-minute scene where they focus, in detail, on the baby pooping. That's his big contribution.

The animation is good, but the CG elements are jarring compared to the 2D animation. The new characters are all fun and memorable. The story is full of magical gems, sky pirates, double crosses and action.

All in all, it's an above average animated adventure, it just has a few distracting things holding it back from being great. With only a little more helium, it could have raised above the 6/10 cloud.
