My son fell in love with Curious George when he was 4 and us in love with the show now. This is his favorite movie of the George series: it's easy for children shows' Halloween specials to scare a 4 year old kid, especially if he's not been exposed to a lot of adult shows or news (my son mostly hasn't, and definitely hadn't when he was 4 two years ago). This special didn't scare him at all, even if he did get that Halloween is about being scared a little. As usual it was sweet, educational, and funny (some lines from the movie being endlessly repeated by my son for a week was the "bad" part, maybe). We still watch this any time it's on. I highly recommend this to parents and children.
My wife, kids, and I, still enjoy watching this special around Halloween. There's just something entertaining about watching Curious George. Never gets old.
This movie is my favorite movie to watch during Halloween time, this tops any Halloween movie ever made for kids. It is a little spooky to give kids the real Halloween feel and has an amazing story with compelling characterization and implements the characters from the show very well. Another reason why this movie is great is the sound track, oh lord the sound track. It makes me dislike the guy because the songs aren't on Spotify. Joe Fallon and Nick Nolan's work on this movie is amazing. The song "Kinda Sorta Haunted House" gives you the exact feel a Halloween movie should give you. All the songs in the movie give you the spooky feelings of Halloween, yet still give you the joy fulfilled feelings you felt as a kids. Please show this to your kids during the Halloween session, not only will it give them a greater appreciation for movies but will give them a newfound appreciation for Halloween as a whole.
One of our favorite Halloween specials. It takes place in a vaguely New England town, with a pleasant Halloween festival, including the obligatory contest (for largest pumpkin, of course). In any case, the fall atmosphere, including the country settings, are very well done. In contrast to most Halloween specials, which feature the supernatural, this story is basically a mystery with a naturalistic explanation, solved by George and his child friends. The only thing which requires suspension of disbelief is the vaguely anthropomorphic monkey himself (even if he doesn't talk), raised by a man who always wears yellow clothes and hat.
Watched it in 2017, 2018, and now 2020 (didn't take it to Princeton in 2019).

This movie is a great movie for the whole family. My three year old son loves it so much he came up with what he thought no noggin looked like and created a costume for Halloween for it, he dressed as a scarecrow. I don't know why anyone would be scared of no noggin after finding out what it actually was. Great laughs through out the movie, and ever year around Halloween we still watch the movie. For a curious George movie that is 58 minutes long is just the right length of time for the kids to sit still and enjoy.
The release date for the movie is a bit incorrect. The movie was first released on dvd in Sept 2013 and not Oct 2013.

- GoofsThe old tree that No Noggin stood beside in the time of Bill's great-great-uncle Herbert Nenninger's farm is now in the yard of George's country house, but it was already established in season 1, episode 9, that the tree is much younger and was only planted by Bouncy Squirrel, Jumpy's grandfather, when the Man in the Yellow Hat was a boy.
