The movie was full of suspense. Two sisters share the same name, Qiao Yan. Who is the real Qiao Yan? They worked hard and came from the countryside. They both keep a secret, especially, the younger sister, Xiao Qiao. She went to the big city to get a better life and tried to delete the memories from her childhood. The younger sister has become an actress, while the older sister, Da Qiao, was smuggled from Myanmar. Besides this, she was also in debt. She's pregnant but had to worry about her children's legal ID issues. Xiao Qiao worried that if her secret was exposed, it would ruin her image and her current wealthy life, so she treated her sister with a cool detachment. Xiao Qiao also questioned the purpose that Da Qiao came to look for her, for money or ID. They fought. They both got very defensive, but, still, Da Qiao is the only family she has. Two sisters love each other.
Liying and Zhilei's acting skills are very engrossing. They deserve a bigger audience. If you are looking for some popcorn movies that serve simply as enjoyable entertainment. This film doesn't fit you. If you like a slow-burn psychological film, then you must watch this one, The Unseen Sister.

Zhao Liying is like a chameleon, she just relates with this character, Qiao Yan, so well. I'm in love
with her acting skills. She's such a legendary actress. Every time she comes on screen, I can feel her powerful presence.
I also like Qiao Yan who is played by Liying. She won't disguise herself, as well as, her ambition as a woman. She will fight for her rights rather than suffering. Yes, Qiao Yan is not that perfect woman. She is sensitive, weak, suspicious, and cool. She is a difficult person to when she deals with outsiders. She's not perfect, but she doesn't need to be. She just needs to be herself. From what Qiao Yan does, you can feel the power that belongs to women exclusively. It is the power to defy unfairness.
The storyline is a bit flat and depressing.

I was extremely impressed by Zhao Liying's acting. Her performance was raw and emotionally charged. She had great chemistry with her co-star, and her subtle body language really added depth to the character. As well as, Xin Zhilei. Their body language and movement aligned with the characters.
My tears kept filling when I saw two sisters hugging.
This film sparks deep contemplation and discussion. It engages with complex ideas and themes. The whole storyline is simple and flat, but each scene is visually stunning. I like these long takes, but each scene lacks some timely and logical connection between them.
I like this kind of art film even though it makes me depressed. But if you are looking for something entertaining, this film may not be suitable for you.

This movie beautifully captures the complexities of modern relationships and personal growth. Yan, the main character, is so relatable, and her journey through life's challenges is both heartfelt and inspiring. It unfolds new layers of Yan's personality, and the supporting characters add warmth and charm, making her world feel authentic and rich. The storytelling is refreshing, the cinematography is clean and engaging, and the dialogue feels real-nothing too exaggerated or predictable. Overall, this movie is a wonderful watch for anyone who enjoys an honest look at life, love, and self-discovery. Highly recommended!
The intricate family dynamics among the Chinese population, the poignant experiences of unreciprocated love, and the profound relationships between sisters are indeed compelling to observe. These relationships often encompass an element of suspicion, where individuals may exploit each other's vulnerabilities; however, they simultaneously rely on one another for emotional support and solace. Zhao Liying and Xin Zhilei delivered exceptional performances in this profoundly emotional film, which significantly impacted me. The character Qiao Yan initially perceived her sister as her closest ally and primary competitor, leading her to question the intentions behind her sister's unexpected return.
This film intricately explores the theme of inner conflict, delving into the psychological landscapes of its characters. It paints a vivid picture of their fears, anxieties, and unfulfilled desires, inviting the audience to look beyond the surface-level narrative. Each character's journey reveals the complexities of their emotional struggles, illustrating how their internal battles shape their decisions and relationships. As the story unfolds, viewers are immersed in a rich tapestry of motivations and vulnerabilities, providing a profound understanding of what drives each character and how they navigate the challenges of their lives.
