It immerses you in the life of a high-level chess player, with all that it entails, diving into the world of chessboxing. Stunning shots, intense fight scenes, all crowned by a constant psychological and philosophical self-reflection.

You'll discover a charming, funny, and determined character. It feels like watching Rocky in the fourth movie! It's impossible not to be impressed by this life journey, and all the sacrifices made to pursue his dream. It's a true life lesson.

It is rare to watch a movie as many times as I have watched this. Maybe Star Wars comes close, back when I was a kid, but it stands to reason I'll be continuing with this one throughout the years, whenever I'm feeling down and need cheering up.

Of course, we shouldn't take it for granted, that because it's about me, I automatically liked it. It could have even been quite to the contrary, for the very same reason... All I can say is that the feedback I get by viewers is always different. And when I think I've heard all the theories, another one pops up. People pick up on very different aspects, each according to their own priorities. And I wouldn't want to spoil your own take before you see it.

If you have to know, I'll say this much, somewhat cryptically. It is as Apollonian as it is Dionysian. A search for an idealised perfection in order to avoid the pain of reality as it is about finding pleasure in pain, and chucking yourself into its flames (so to speak)...

I've the opportunity to watch this movie during a chess boxing week end. I loved it, you will go through an authentic story of a precursor in a new sport.

Images and sounds are wonderful even thought I didn't watch it in the best conditions !
