Well done romantic melodrama

One can almost invariably count on Russian writers and filmmakers to take a tried-and-true template and inject some real life into it. That is the case with this film which, on the surface, is a mere normal love triangle, but once the familial background of the story is developed, is transported to a new level of emotional intensity.

Unfortunately, the YouTube version I watched is missing English subtitles for ten critical minutes close to the end of the film, so I really don't know what transpired between the daughter who'd left her mother.

The curse of the unilingual strikes again!
