    One of the best!!

Nelum Kuluna is a standout comedy that breaks away from traditional Sri Lankan cinema, offering a fresh and engaging experience. With top-notch acting and excellent storytelling, the film masterfully blends humor with social commentary, highlighting key issues in Sri Lankan society. The witty dialogues and well-crafted satire keep the audience entertained while provoking thought. The characters are relatable, and the humor is both clever and impactful. A bold and refreshing film, Nelum Kuluna proves that comedy can be a powerful tool for storytelling and social reflection & I hope to see more movies like this to grow srilankan film industry.

    New way of thinking

This movie sets itself apart from the usual Sri Lankan comedy genre in an exciting way! Hats off to the director and the crew for delivering this piece to the cinema.

While the music choices occasionally disrupted the film's flow, the uniqueness of the story kept me hooked.

Movie manages to keep the viewer on the hook as them eagerly anticipate what will unfold next.

It masterfully blends comedy with biting satire, all while maintaining a serious tone that delves deep into the social dynamics surrounding the situation.

The result is a gripping experience that keeps the guessing game alive and well!

    I wholeheartedly recommend it as a must-watch.

    Just Wow

Sri Lanka has its own cinema, which should be recognized as Sri Lankan Cinema, not just Sinhala Cinema. Our country is home to a diverse range of cultures, and therefore, cinema should represent the entire nation, not just one ethnic group. In this context, the film TENTIGO, directed by one of Sri Lanka's finest advertisement directors, Ilango Ramanathan, is a significant contribution to our film industry.

Drawing from his extensive experience in the world of advertisements, Ramanathan brings an artistic flair and a deep understanding of audience engagement to the screen. His ability to tap into the sense of humor of Sri Lankan audiences is remarkable. But it doesn't end there. TENTIGO has also impressed Indian audiences, as the movie was remade in Tamil. This marks a significant milestone as Ilango Ramanathan is the first director to remake a Sri Lankan movie with Indian actors.

While TENTIGO may not be a masterpiece, it certainly serves as an absolute adult family entertainer, filling a crucial gap in the Sri Lankan cinema landscape. This is exactly what Sri Lankan cinema needs: more quality films that entertain without compromising on substance.

There are many filmmakers who seem to be focused on selling historical narratives with low-quality screenplays and shallow, absurd movies. To those filmmakers, I urge you to watch TENTIGO. This is cinema. This is the level of quality that Sri Lankan audiences are craving.

With proper scripts and execution, Sri Lankan cinema has the potential to reach a global audience. It is not about imitation; it is about embracing and developing our own unique style, and Ilango Ramanathan has shown us that this is possible.

Well done, Ilango Ramanathan! Keep pushing forward.

Ilango Ram: Redefining Sri Lankan Cinema with Nelum Kuluna

A fresh breath of life has been added to Sri Lankan cinema, with a film currently enjoying massive success in theaters.

One person has taken on three major roles in this creation, the director of Nelum Kuluna, Ilango Ram!

    Written by Ilango

    Captured through Ilango's lens

    Directed by Ilango

Typically, in Sri Lanka, most directors handle two of these roles, writing and directing. Even then, the end result often struggles. It's rare these days to see a film that truly rises above the rest.

But Ilango has conquered this challenge!

If anyone wants to truly understand Ilango's potential, the simplest and most essential thing to do is watch Nelum Kuluna, and right after, watch Perusu.

Only then will you fully grasp:

The storytelling brilliance of Ilango, the writer

The creative vision of Ilango, the director

Taking the same story and adapting it seamlessly for two different cultures, all while directing both versions himself, is an impressive feat.

But what's even more remarkable? The fact that both films resonate equally with their respective audiences.

    Ilango has worked his magic.

He wrote and crafted Nelum Kuluna to connect with Sri Lankan audiences.

He wrote and crafted Perusu to connect with Tamil Nadu audiences.

That's exactly why both films are thriving in theaters.

In my 31 years of life, and within the last 15 years of watching Sinhala cinema, Nelum Kuluna is the most remarkable film I've seen!

Of course, it's not without flaws, no film is. True masterpieces are rare worldwide, and even rarer in Sri Lanka. But through Nelum Kuluna, Ilango has shown that he has the potential to craft one. I firmly believe that.

Now, for all the aspiring writers and filmmakers holding onto their dreams, it's time to step into the space Ilango has opened up: Quality Sri Lankan Cinema.
