Academy Award® winner Brendan Fraser has been cast in ‘Pressure,’ joining the recently announced Andrew Scott in the role of Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg.
Fraser takes on the role of Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower.
In the seventy-two hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element – the British weather. Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Andrew Scott) is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on.
With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser).

The Thin Blue Line actor David Haig is adapting his World War II thriller play Pressure into a film. Here are the details.
While David Haig is perhaps best known for his role as Inspector Grimm in Ben Elton’s The Thin Blue Line, he also an acclaimed dramatic actor, delivering the astonishingly dark Playing Sandwiches monologue in Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads series.
Haig is also a prolific playwright, however. He penned the 2004 play My Boy Jack, about Rudyard Kipling’s son fighting in the first World War. He adapted into a television film in 2007, in which he also starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Kim Cattrall.
Pressure premiered in 2018. Haig wrote and also starred in the production, which chronicled the story of the decision makers behind the D-Day landings, the tiny window of opportunity they were afforded in choosing between June 5th or June 6th 1944 and the pressure cooker environment in which they worked,...

Horace Ové’s masterpiece “Pressure” is getting the spotlight treatment courtesy of Janus Films and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (Bam).
“Pressure” will screen for two weeks as part of the museum’s ode to Black British cinema. The program, titled “Uncharted Territories: Black Britain on Film, 1963-1986” will take place from May 3 through 7, leading up to the new 4K restoration of “Pressure,” widely regarded as the first Black British narrative feature film.
“Uncharted Territories” features rarely screened work from filmmakers of African and Caribbean heritage based in Britain. The series includes “Burning an Illusion,” directed by Menelik Shabazz (1981), John Akomfrah’s “Handsworth Songs” (1986), “Territories” directed by Isaac Julien (1984), and more. The festival is programmed by Ashley Clark.
Screenings of “Pressure” begin May 10 and will continue through May 23. Herbert Norville, Oscar James, and Frank Singuineau star in the feature that follows a London-born teen (Norville), who is the son of Trinidadian parents.

5lbs of Pressure stars Luke Evans as a recently paroled murderer attempting to reconnect with his lost son. His return home to Brooklyn sparks a spiraling series of deadly events as local criminals seek retribution. Alex Pettyfer co-stars as Leff, a dangerous crime lord with a short leash on his lackey nephew, Mike (Rory Culkin), an inept rock star wannabe. The film focuses on families in crisis as differing agendas lead to a violent outcome.
Pettyfer spoke warmly of Culkin, "Rory is a genius actor. Some of the work that we did was life-changing for me. That comes down to a partner in your scene that kind of pushes you. I would do anything for him." He also compliments director Phil Allocco's script as "immaculate" with "key messages of redemption and acceptance." Machine Gun Kelly has shown off a massive blackout tattoo he apparently got “for spiritual purposes only.”
The rapper-turned-pop punk singer debuted the painful-looking ink on his Instagram. The all-black tattoo covers the top half of his upper body, forming around a cross that runs from his chest to his abdomen.
On her own Instagram page, the tattoo artist Roxx called Mgk one of her toughest clients for undergoing the process. “Made some art with @machinegunkelly,” she wrote. “Never met a tougher one.” In the comments, Mgk replied, “thanks for the joy and the pain.”
In an interview with TMZ, Roxx said they started doing six-hour sessions at her LA studio back in mid-December. After 13 sessions, there’s still work to be done to finish the project.

Director who examined life in multicultural Britain in pioneering films such as Pressure, a defining work of black British cinema
Horace Ové, who has died aged 86, was the groundbreaking director of Pressure, the first full-length black British feature film, in 1975. Its release was delayed for several years by its backers at the British Film Institute, who feared that the scenes of police brutality might prove incendiary.
The picture charts with patience and fastidiousness the gradual political awakening of Anthony (Herbert Norville), an amiable African-Caribbean school-leaver. Living in west London with his traditionalist parents, he is torn between his white former classmates, who are getting on in a job market that is openly hostile to him, and his militant older brother, who castigates him for failing to adopt the black struggle as his own. It was a conflict that Ové, who arrived in Britain from Trinidad in 1960, knew only too well.

Big Brother 25 could potentially bring back evicted pre-jury players who weren't sequested, similar to the Big Brother 3 jury that voted against Danielle Reyes. Cameron had gone from winning Hoh after 13 hours and 49 minutes in the Pressure Cooker to having both of his nominees, Jag Bains and Blue Kim, stay in the house after Matt Klotz used the Power of Invincibility on Jag.

The houseguests are divided on who the replacement nominee should be, with different strategies being suggested by Cirie, Izzy, Mecole, and Felicia. Jared, as the current Hoh, faces a difficult decision in choosing the replacement nominee.
The Big Brother 25 week 5 Power of Veto competition has been played, and its winner is nominee Cameron Hardin. Cameron was nominated for eviction next to his closest ally, Red Utley, by current Head of Household (Hoh) Jared Fields. Cameron was Jared's main target this week, but now things have once again shifted. Cameron had gone from winning Hoh after 13 hours and 49 minutes in the Pressure Cooker to having both of his nominees, Jag Bains and Blue Kim, stay in the house after Matt Klotz used the Power of Invincibility on Jag.

Heading into this week’s Veto episode of “Big Brother 25,” Cameron Hardin had just gone from being on the block twice to relaxing in the Head of Household room. He won the fan-fave Pressure Cooker competition by holding his button for nearly 14 hours, after making a deal with America Lopez that she and Cory Wurtenberger would be safe this week. Later, Cameron nominated Jag Bains (who was still wearing his chicken costume) and Blue Kim for eviction, but the Power of Veto still could be used to save one of them on Wednesday night.

America Lopez, a Big Brother 25 houseguest, has proven to be a strong physical and mental competitor right from the beginning. America's most impressive achievement so far was placing second in the grueling Pressure Cooker Head of Household competition, lasting 13 hours and 49 minutes. America is a 27-year-old receptionist from Edinburg, Texas, and a first-generation American with Mexican immigrant parents. She graduated from Brown University with a biology degree.
Big Brother 25 houseguest and self-described superfan America Lopez had a strong start to the season when she won the very first competition that came from the Scramble-verse. The houseguests had to disassemble a completed puzzle and fit the pieces perfectly in the box they came in. She proved from the first competition that she's a strong physical and mental competitor. America was calm and logical, and solved the puzzle far ahead of her fellow competitors.

Following the unanimous eviction of Hisam Goueli from “Big Brother 25,” the remaining players (not counting outgoing Head of Household Felicia Cannon) all began the endurance comp to end all endurance comps: the Pressure Cooker. The winner of this fan-favorite challenge would be given the power to nominate two contestants for elimination, and all they had to do was hold a red button longer than their competitors. Sounds easy, right? So who won the Pressure Cooker Hoh competition on Sunday night?

Hisam Goueli reveals he would've stayed loyal to The Professors alliance if they saved him, despite being devastated when they came up with the backdoor plan. Hisam would consider playing Big Brother again, but acknowledges it's a tough game that requires sacrifice and will depend on where he is in his life. Despite being a strong competitor, Hisam's social game was lacking, which led to him being seen as a villain of sorts and ultimately losing the trust of his alliance.

While Geoffrey was primarily used for humor in Fresh Prince, the Geoffrey Bel-Air character sees his saddest storyline returning in the reboot. Bel-Air’s version of Geoffrey is wildly different from Fresh Prince’s butler, beginning with the fact that he’s no longer a “butler” per se. Bel-Air’s Geoffrey is now the Banks’ “house manager,” though the twist on his character makes him more of a fixer for Phil, which oftentimes means bending the law or going on secret missions. The emotional depth and complexity of Geoffrey in Bel-Air are far different from Fresh Prince, so it makes sense that the reboot includes one of the original character’s saddest storylines.
Bel-Air season 1, episode 8 is primarily concerned with the conflict between Will and his father, Lou, but sees the Geoffrey Bel-Air character in a pickle. Geoffrey makes a comment about having a son, and it's a callback...

Amazon Prime’s The Boys has been able to showcase many of the powers and abilities from the original comics, but there are a few that are still missing. The world of The Boys, both in the comics and in the series, is a rich one that’s full of super-powered entities. But while it has made sense to combine some characters and their abilities from the comics or invent new ones altogether, there are still some powers yet to hit the silver screen which could be very interesting to incorporate into the show’s dynamics. Now that a supes’ powers can evolve on The Boys, maybe some of the remaining abilities from the comics will be in the show as well. The Boys tells the story of a world full of corporate superheroes and villains where the business of heroics has been deeply commercialized. When you hear the hip-hop-styled piano rhythm of “Pof,” the opening cut on Ari Lennox’s second album age/sex/location, the first thing you’ll notice is her voice, flowing full and wry like Erykah Badu circa “On & On.” Yes, this is a real, honest-to-God soul singer: no autotune effects, no flattening croon that approximates laptop software, no double-time rhythm meant to approximate a rapper’s inflections. Lennox isn’t a traditionalist, though, and her music feels utterly modern. Much like Summer Walker, Chlöe Bailey — both of whom guest...

Six years ago director Robert Eggers released his debut movie The Witch, and it is fair to say it received quite a reception, which is why it led to there being talk of the industry newcomer taking on a remake of the "original Dracula" movie, Nosferatu. While it isn't strange for a still wet-behind-the-ears filmmaker to be looking to make their name with a remake of an already famous movie, that was not the case with Eggers, who from the start was immensely passionate about the movie and the idea of bringing it to life in a new way. However, despite star of The Witch Anya Taylor-Joy being in talks to star at one point there has been nothing else mentioned about it. Until Now, it seems.

UK Screen Industries Survey Highlights Socio-Economic Imbalance
A new survey has found that the majority of people working in the UK’s screen industries are from a background that is classified as ‘privileged’. The survey, conducted by the Creative Industries Policy & Evidence Centre and backed by ScreenSkills, analyzed data from the latest edition of the Office for National Statistics’ Labour Force Survey in 2019. Their research found that 53% of those surveyed from the screen industries, including the film, TV and games businesses, were from a privileged background. Looking specifically at the careers of key creative roles, specified here as arts officers, producers and directors, the number rose to 61%. That was in comparison with 38% across all industries. The definition of having a privileged background is those who had at least one parent whose job was a higher or lower managerial, administrative or professional occupation.
