There are a lot of interviews in this film. They interview music industry insiders and interviews with the band. It's funny how I can understand them singing just fine (I love their music), but I have trouble understanding them when they talk. Sometimes I forget that they are from the UK and come with such cute accents. One thing I remember them saying is, They like American girls and think we are polite. They talk about how they came together as One Direction, how they met and how both Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherinziger (from the Pussycat Dolls) put the band together. It's really an interesting story of how they began and how fast their popularity grew and the end is not in sight.
As a child of the 90s I remember the Backstreet Boys and N Sync days well. Honestly it wasn't until recently that I had even heard of "One Direction" I wanted to see what all the fuss is about so I decided to check out this documentary about them, and I will say after watching it I walked away with a greater appreciation for them as artists. Different media personalities are interviewed and discuss their rise to prominence. One area in particular that stood out was their adept use of using social media and how that differed from the old model of record company promotion. (Mainly they were famous on twitter before they had even released a single state side)couple that with their humble, non-pretentious sense of fun, and you have a band that I will be rooting for for a long time!
These guys are so talented and so cute. I haven't had a chance to make it to one of their concerts yet, but apparently they have a fan communication time where fans get to tweet at them questions and they will answer them during the concert. That is so cool. That's one of the things I heard about in this film. This is what makes One Direction such a stand out band. Music industry insiders talk about how One Direction compares to other "boy bands", past and present. Past: 98 Degrees, New Kids on the Block, Current: The Wanted. I learned a lot about One Direction while watching this film. They are so talented and genuinely kind. Kindness is also part of what makes them so huge. I recommend this film to all One Direction fans.
"One Direction"... I gotta admit the first time I heard about them was when Harry was dating Taylor Swift. Now I grew up during the New Kids era so I know all about boy bands. After hearing some of there songs I figured I'd check out this documentary. The doc covers their rise from the X Factor to now. Throughout music biz insiders are interviewed and they explain to the viewer how they rose to stardom, and how the are not only similar to previous boy bands, but also different. Footage of interviews with the band are also interspersed in between interviews. The and interviews were my favorite parts of the movie, the band comes of as likable (and a bit cheeky to use a British term) it made me root for them. I hope they are big for a long time!
I am a new fan of One Direction. I can't stop singing their songs. So I wanted to watch this film to learn a little more of what they are all about. I think it's fascinating how they didn't know each other before X- Factor and now they are this amazing band. This documentary talks about how quickly their popularity grew. They were on the Today Show and soon after, were on the Super Bowl Pepsi commercial. That is huge. They are like the boys next door, how can you not love them. I think it's great that they are so into social networking. They make the fans feel close to them when they are sharing their thoughts. I don't know if this was all marketing, the documentary didn't say it outright that it was marketing, just that it's working. I liked this film. I would recommend.
