Having been an avid user of several of the voice packs for many years now I can longer imagine playing my game without them. It's not just the ability to use very in depth and customisable voice commands to control some complex game commands it's the quality and variety of audio responses that each pack provides. From famous and well known names from TV and film to futuristic ai entities the packs give verbal feedback of all the things would expect right through to random hilarious responses all the way up to seriously detailed facts about real life topics such as space and it's various anomalies, one of my packs even reminds to grab a break from time to time and had even been known to suggest healthy snack recipes. The packs I have gave me almost life-like copilots that both make the gaming experience more enjoyable, more efficient or less complex in terms of gameplay and it would take to long to list here the features and functionality they provide. The price for each of these packs is truly incredible given the quality and number of actual stars that voice them, did I mention the hilarity they bring!
I have used HCS Voice packs for several years while playing Elite Dangerous. The additional level of immersion they add is astonishing. I play almost every day and can't imagine playing without them. Each character pack comes with a huge library of recorded responses that are used for the pre-defined keyboard commands but also hundreds of additional responses that you can use to create your own custom commands. I cannot recommend these packs highly enough believe me you will not be disappointed. All you need is a headset with a microphone and the Voice Attack application. I have over 11 crew to choose from ranging from Tom Baker, William Shatner, Brian Blessed, Brent Spiner, John De Lance among many others there are even a Ships Dog, Cat and a very rude Parrot who will accompany you on your journey.
VR is good especially the Bigscreen VR system, but adding voice control makes any system next level. The empowerment you feel when giving commands actually makes the game more immersive and rewarding. Instead of just twitching a joystick your giving commands as you would in a real life battle or talking to a ship board computer or calling in reinforcements as you would as a general in a battle. It really is another level of gameplay.
As for the hardware needed my mike is 15 years old, and it's flawless, never misses a command. So unlike a lot of expensive add ons a voicepack for your favorite game or desktop rewards you in so many levels that it's the one thing I would recommend any of you buy.
BTW I am 66 years old and have seen the rise of the gaming industry from pacman to elite dangerous and simply love being immersed in the semi reality that awaits me everytime I turn my computer on.

Been using his voice packs with elite dangerous for years now, and they're making the gaming session way more immersive.
Their packs are, of course, compatible with multiple games like, star citizen, star field, star wars squadrons, Helldivers 2, flight sim, and baldurs Gate.
And technically every game you can think of if you're willing to great your own profiles in voice attack.
Quality of voice packs is amazing with some celebrities lending their voice to them as well.. like Mr. Data from star trek and doctor who.
Worth every penny.
Not to mention that their customer support has been really great.

I remember when this was first coming out for voice commands in games. Originally I believed this was going to be like talk to text, which normally did not work well.
Once I noticed they had Brent Spiner, John De Lance, William Shatner, & a few other Star Trek cast members. I figured I would give this a shot.
It does take a little while to setup, varies per person since it is dependent on you setting up your voice recognition. Trust me when I tell you that is time well spent.
While playing elite dangerous without voice attack. Was an ok game, impressive in its own way but the game experience increases drastically once voice attack is in.
Sometimes I will just hop on any voice attack game just to listen to the content from them. Especially when you have several packs together and how they interact with themselves. I am 100% behind this and wish they would get Patrick Steward, Tom Hiddleston, Robert Downey Jr, and other cast members from Marvel.
