Beyond My Comprehension

We have new techno sci fi here with a man locked into a space, going on a mission for the first time. Other than his own survival from whatever there is, what is the conflict. A very jarring film which gets us bounced around and then.....what? So, what is the attraction for this guy and are his antagonists real? Don't know.

Trivia
When the Forensic Accountant gets computer access to Private Glen's file, the read-out provides the information that the battle is called the Palomar Campaign, dated 12/06/2317. The Soldier is in the 7th Squad of the 3rd Battalion, and coordinates are given for the drop area, though the planet is not named.
