I watched several episodes of The Big Bang Theory and found it to be mildly irreverent but funny. So I thought Young Sheldon would be more of the same humor. After watching the first episode, where the disrespect for religion far surpassed anything seen on TBBT, I decided it was not for me.
When I found out there would be a series finale with the older Sheldon and Amy reprising their roles, I thought I would give it a look. Sadly, it was more of the same. As someone posted in their review (When a Comedy Loses its Humor), Sheldon was never a likable character. Incredibly narcissistic and irreverent to the end! Endless jokes and jabs about the Bible, church and his mother's beliefs made up a considerable amount of the dialogue. I imagine most people reading this will think, Oh get over it. Let me pose this thought: What if he had been born into a Muslim family - would the series have taken cheap shots at Muhammad, the Quoran, and Islam? I think not. So why was Christianity fair game? If you have an ounce of respect for other peoples' religion - skip this series.

I dint understand why so many reviews diss this episode and say it wasn't necessary. It was absolutely necessary. You can't just end at a funeral, especially for a character that has spanned 2 decades! Like everyone else I cried at the previous Funeral episode (didn't think I would get that emotional). I really loved this ending - although I would have liked to have found out how old Sheldon and Amy's kids were and more things about them etc. Which was great considering I hated the ending of The Big Bang Theory so much so I haven't been able to re watch a single episode since then! Endings matter! Only thing I didn't understand is considering Mary was so religious why hadn't Missy and Sheldon already been baptized when they were born?
But this story of Sheldon had come respectably full circle. And almost makes up for the final BBT episode! A fine finale.

I was never really crazy about this show, never waited for another episode or season, but I watched all of it because it was always good, except for a few episodes after the first one. This episode made me realize that I am not just losing one show but losing my favorite, The Big Bang Theory, again, especially because of the really good guest appearance of older Sheldon and Amy.
I am glad they didn't kill George Sr. Earlier and waited until the very end because he was one of the best characters. The reaction Sheldon gave after finding out his dad is dead was really touching; this actor is superb. Not just him, but the writers did a really good job as the reactions given by others matched their personalities and were not too dramatic or different.
They tried to add some comedy in the 13th episode, but it was tough, and it was noticeable, especially the crying of Sheldon's dad's friend, Wayne. I have seen many Chuck Lorre comedy shows, and I think this finale was better than the finales of his other shows like Mom, Bob Hearts Abishola, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, etc. Overall, it was a really good finale, and I hope for some other The Big Bang Theory spinoffs in the future. There is still scope for Young Howard and Old Raj. I am unsure about the Young Sheldon spinoff but will definitely give it a try.

I would love to see these showrunners have a go at redoing S8 (and S6&7) of GOT because they clearly know how to absolutely nail an ending.
I'm gonna miss this show, I've enjoyed it from the start, and I'll be happy to watch it from the start again.
To see a good show escape being ruined by a bad ending is rare, so bravo to the writers, producers, actors and showrunners in landing this huge show.
If there's just one thing I'd rather have not seen, it's Bialik getting a bump, but even she couldn't ruin it for me.
Thank you Young Sheldon for bringing some giggles to an aging blokes Sunday Evenings!

This last episode was absolutely pointless. All the hype about it being a huge tear jerker was just that - hype. Sheldon goes out just the way he came in, a brutish, self absorbed, self centered, insensitive jerk. Absolutely nothing redeeming about his character. Hollywood's hatred of Christianity is on full display as the mother is presented as the worst caricature of a person of faith. Everyone is broken and bitter. Yes, I get it, the father died and everyone is hurting but you'd think a comedy show would either finish with a touch of sadness or hope or both. This was just a dumpster fire. I really enjoyed this series but this last episode left such a bad taste in my mouth I don't think I'll ever watch it again.

George Cooper, Sr.
1952 - 1994
Husband, Father, Grandfather, Coach
"A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life"
- GoofsDuring one of the scenes with adult Sheldon and Amy, the audience finds out their son plays youth hockey in Pasadena. However, the jerseys shown are for a non-existent team, the Pasadena Penguins. [EDIT]: There is a real youth hockey team in Pasadena called the Maple Leafs. It is not unusual for TV shows and movies to invent fictional teams or places. This has been the case throughout this series. The town where Sheldon lives and the high school and college that he attended are equally fictional.
- Crazy creditsSince he's now playing (adult) Sheldon Cooper on camera, instead of just narrating, Jim Parsons gets credited twice: As a main cast member and as a guest cast member.
