I liked this! Offbeat quirky humour, lots of plot twists, fun modern characters. Would recommend as a fun watch, would watch a second season, but I don't think I'd rewatch it - so I gave it a 7/10. Especially enjoyed the grandma and auntie, totally bonkers and a really good juxtaposition to Elliot's normal world. If I had to name any negatives, I guess because it's quirky and cartoonish I didn't find myself emotionally invested in the characters, but I did enjoy them. And I was invested in the plot enough to want to know the resolution! A few times I laughed out loud hard and had to rewind to enjoy a line again. Solid comedy.
It British so has a particular style and sense of humour and it's probably not for you if you enjoy more mainstream US type of style and humour. However, accept it for what it is and I think you'll buoy.
There are oddball characters, like the grandmother and the pet grooming lady - he hair style in one episode is a visual treat!
It also has great visual style. It's lovely and quirky and makes Liverpool look great. Yes the lead is gay, and yes the cast is diverse, but get over it, keep an open mind and have fun watching it. It has moments of the absurd but so does something like "Extraordinary" and that gets higher ratings. I think there's a teeny bit of homophobia and racism in some of the reviewers which is clouding their judgement.
It's light, fun, quirky. Enjoy!

This show captivated my family and I from the start. It's bright, colorful, fun, suspenseful, young, hip, and binge-able as hell. I got lost in the story and attached to the characters from the start. It's written in a way that's serious but silly at the same time. I can't think of any other show that's done a murder-mystery in this way. As much I was on the edge of my seat, that suspense was cut by the most hilarious, out of pocket jokes and moments I never saw coming. I hope so badly there is a second season to this! I NEED to know what happens next. The curveballs at the end threw me!! Sharing Dead Hot with all of my friends who are equally as hooked and antsy for more!!
I had reservations about the show when I first saw ads for it (seemed kind of limited and weirdly fast-paced at first), but it quickly evened out to a quirky and deeply enjoyable murder mystery series.
As a fan of the genre, you don't see a lot of good LGBT-centered mystery series, so I was happy to finally find one that was so well-crafted. I definitely liked Elliott more than Jess who got to be rather grating at times in scenes on her own, but they had a great dynamic. And the recurring/side characters were well-handled as well.
The plot was a bit hard to follow sometimes, but twists and turns are to be expected in a thriller show like this. A few too many flashbacks for my taste, though.
Hope there is a second season! I'd really like to see more of these characters.

What a gem! Like all classic British tv comedy shows it comes in at 6 episodes, each of which gallops along at pace. The two leads are excellent, combining empathy, comedy but with a perfect underlying stench of suspicion. Supporting cast are similarly up to par, memorable and funny. Peter Serafinowicz in particular!
Writing and dialogue was a dream, never a dull moment, with little easter eggs packed into everything. The show overall felt tight, no wasted scenes, shots, dialogue or characters. The amount of detail that Aunt Bonnie's equastrian kink was unbelievable for such a side plot.
As a side note, I'm confused by the low overall rating from silent reviewers...
