The Twilight Zone and the works of David Lynch might not be identical twins, but they could certainly be long-lost siblings. Both are known for their uncanny ability to distort reality, blending the mundane with the macabre, and turning dreams into nightmares. Rod Serling’s anthology series often served up moral allegories and psychological horror draped in mid-century aesthetics, while Lynch’s filmography is drenched in dreamy dread, surreal juxtapositions, and the creeping sense that something just isn’t quite right. If you squint, many Twilight Zone episodes already feel like they could have been ripped straight from the pages of Lynch’s personal notes.
Though Serling’s world is more narratively buttoned-up than Lynch’s sprawling, often impenetrable puzzles, the thematic overlap is impossible to ignore. There are plenty of episodes that mirror Lynch’s obsessions -- loss of identity, small-town façades hiding rot beneath, dreams bleeding into reality,...

We take you back to Alia Bhatt’s brilliant performance in Highway. Subhash K Jha shares a fantastic interview with Alia from when the drama, directed by Imtiaz Ali, was released in 2014.
Suddenly, 2013 had a new female star. Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan’s youngest-born, Alia Bhatt, has gone from the baby from the family to the babe of Bollywood in no time at all. Alia laughed, “It has been a pretty tumultuous year for me. Yes, it was a decisive year. It was a year that I’d remember mainly for shooting Highway.”
Alia says Highway put her life into a perspective. “It helped me to connect with the person within me. My father (filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt) always said the day an actor finds oneness with the person within is the day he or she becomes a true actor. I think I found that person during Highway. I don...

In the film, when two boys are kidnapped in a border town in Nepal, Detective Inspector Pooja is sent from Kathmandu to solve the case. However, upon her arrival, the brewing political unrest and violent protests throw her off course, compelling her to seek help from Mamata, a local Madhesi policewoman. India’s Yash Raj Films (Yrf) has unveiled the title for its first female-fronted instalment in the studio’s successful spy universe franchise.
Titled “Alpha,” the film stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as super agents. “This is a clear take by Yrf to highlight a societal misinterpretation that only men can be Alphas,” said a source close to Yrf.
“Alpha” is helmed by Shiv Rawail who debuted as a director with the studio’s hit 2023 Netflix series “The Railway Men.”
The title marks a significant shift for the action-packed series, which has previously centered on male protagonists, albeit with strong female characters. Created by producer and Yrf chair and MD Aditya Chopra, the spy universe kicked off with the Tiger franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, beginning with “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012) and “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017), and continued with “War” (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan,...

Randeep Hooda shared that he won’t confine himself to one theme and will explore various genres. The actor also hinted at his next project as a filmmaker, possibly an action film.
When asked about the topics he plans to explore in his next project, Randeep told Ians: “Even as an actor, I have jumped genres and I have jumped roles and characters. So similarly, as a filmmaker, I’ll be jumping genres, and topics. Maybe the next one I will be making an action film.
Randeep made his Bollywood debut in 2001 with ‘Monsoon Wedding’.
Over his two-decade-long journey in Hindi cinema, the actor has delivered some iconic characters and films, including ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’, ‘Murder 3’, ‘Highway’, and ‘Sarbjit’.

Highway is considered Alia Bhatt’s one of the best performances. It has been ten years since the movie was released, and it was Alia’s second movie after Student of the Year. However, Imtiaz has now revealed that he wanted an older actress to play the character. The filmmaker said that his unit wasn’t convinced Bhatt could pull off such a complex role.

Having graduated from Busan's Asian Film Academy in 2007, Chia Chee Sum (nicknamed Darrel) took his time to hone his patient craft. In 2018, he returned to the South Korean city to present “High Way” (2018), which won the Busan International Short Film Festival's Jury Prize. His gently observational, frequently amusing short film, about a young motorcyclist's hunt for his T-shirt along the corridors of a public-housing flat, was soon followed up by the China-set diaspora short〈烏達烏達〉“Otak-Otak” in 2019.
In October 2023, Oasis of Now competed in the New Currents section of Busan International Film Festival, where it was hailed as “the most beautiful film of this Busan competition”. Situated entirely in a crumbling apartment complex in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where Chee Sum lived, his first feature drops in on the clandestine meetings between a Vietnamese mother, Hanh, and her increasingly distant daughter, Ting Ting. Netflix offers a huge library of media. The problem is how much of it is simply filler instead of the good stuff we all actually want. But sometimes, a movie makes it under the radar and needs to be found to be enjoyed. Hidden Strike is one of these movies. It appeared on Netflix with nothing more than a whimper but has become a bit of a phenomenon.

Popular Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra has two projects based on real-life stories in the works.
“Chamkila” is a biopic on Punjabi singer-songwriter pop star duo Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur, who shot to fame in the 1980s recording and performing songs that were social commentaries or devotionals, and which became massive hits. The duo was gunned down in Mehsampur village, Punjab, in 1988. Their assassination remains an unsolved mystery and was the subject of Kabir Singh Chowdhry’s 2018 mockumentary “Mehsampur.”
“Chamkila,” produced by Reliance Entertainment, is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, known for “Jab We Met” (2007), “Love Aaj Kal” (2009), “Rockstar” (2011) and “Highway” (2014). Pop star and actor Diljit Dosjanh (Netflix original film “Jogi”) plays Chamkila while Chopra plays Kaur.
“Diljit and I are going to be singing throughout the film. We’re doing like 12-15 songs because it’s a film on music. We’re doing live recordings on set.

Alia, who made her debut with the 2012 film ‘Student Of The Year’, has had quite an eventful journey in cinema as she has constantly delivered terrific performances one after the other but, after all these years, Ranbir’s favourite performance of Alia remains her second film, ‘Highway’.
Talking about it, Ranbir said in an IMDb Original video, “She’s probably had the best year any artist has ever had, in the history of actors. She’s had ‘Gangubai’, she’s had ‘Rrr’, she’s had ‘Darlings’. And now she’s going to have ‘Brahmastra’.
“The obvious choice would be ‘Gangubai’, but I actually became a fan of Alia from her second film onwards, and that was ‘Highway’

ReviewWhile the film begins with the interesting premise of a psycho killer who selects and kills his victims randomly, poor characterisation and an absurd climax let the viewers down.Balakrishna GaneshanDirector Kv Guhan’s Highway opens with these lines: “There will always be a reason why you meet people. Either you need to change your life or you are the one that’ll change later.” These lines sum up the crime thriller’s plot of how a journey accidentally brings together two people and an imminent danger. A psycho killer is on the prowl maiming and killing young women. The police are unable to catch him as he does not have a set pattern; all his victims are randomly abducted and killed. There seems to be no motive behind the murders. It is with this interesting and engaging premise that the film begins. Vishnu (Anand Deverakonda) is a wedding photographer.

People expect highway rides to be fast, racy, and smooth. But on screen, Telugu movie ‘Highway’, ace cinematographer Kv Guhan’s third directorial venture in Telugu, suffers on all three fronts. Interesting in patches but largely predictable, ‘Highway’ could yet appeal to die-hard fans of the ‘cat and mouse’ type serial killer genre.
The movie’s basic premise is set around a serial woman-killer and a determined lady cop in Hyderabad. ‘Highway’ shifts scene when a young village lass lands in his clutches, with her new love hot on their tracks. Despite the initial promise of a taut thriller, ‘Highway’ ends up meandering along to a rather unbelievable ending.
Vishnu, a promising photographer in Vizag sets out on a wedding coverage assignment in Bengaluru. On the way, he and his friend come to the aid of Tulasi, a village belle from near Amalapuram, in search of her father in Mangaluru,...

Years Of Lead: Five Classic Italian Crime Thrillers 1973-1977 will be available on Blu-ray June 22nd from Arrow Video. The titles are: Savage Three (1975), Like Rabid Dogs (1976),, Colt 38 Special Squad (1976), Highway Racer (1977) and Highway Racer (1977),
The 1970s were a time of intense uncertainty and instability in Italy. Political corruption and widespread acts of left and right-wing terrorism, alongside a breakdown in social cohesion and a loss of trust in public institutions such as the government and police, created a febrile atmosphere of cynicism, paranoia and unexploded rage. Throughout this period, these sentiments found expression in a series of brutal, often morally ambiguous crime thrillers which tapped into the atmosphere of violence and instability that defined the so-called Years of Lead.
This box set gathers five films from the heyday of the “poliziotteschi” – the umbrella term used to describe this diverse body of films. In Vittorio Salerno’s Savage Three (1975) and...
