Good Night and Good Luck, starring George Clooney, broke the record for highest weekly gross for a play last week, with an eye-popping $3.3 million.
That total was brought in across only seven preview performances, and bests the record set by Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhall. Othello initially broke the record for highest grossing play the week of March 3, with $2.8 million, and then broke its own record the following week with $2.82 million.
Good Night and Good Luck achieved the new record with an average ticket price of $302.07 and capacity of 101 percent at the Winter Garden Theater. The play, which sees Clooney play the journalist Edward R. Murrow as he takes aim at Senator Joseph McCarthy, broke the record during its second week of previews and is scheduled to open April 3.

George Clooney has dabbled in various genres in his decades-long career but he is reportedly finally saying goodbye to romances. The actor was the heartthrob of a whole new generation and was a huge reason why they loved doctors (he had a leading role in ER). However, Clooney has called it quits on love.
This comes on the heels of actress Sandra Bullock also saying goodbye to rom-coms, which is a huge blow for fans. The Proposal star criticized Hollywood’s treatment of the genre and expressed the difficulties of getting a film of the genre made. She also mentioned how executives saw the genre and wanted to make it formulaic.

A couple of days after Hollywood star George Clooneyappeared on the CBS news program 60 Minutes to promote his new Broadway show, President Donald Trump has responded to the actor via social media. Although Clooney did not exactly point fingers during his appearance on the CBS show, he did say that "governments don't like the freedom of the press." It appears that he may have hit a nerve, and once again, Trump has expressed his disdain for the actor, calling him a "second rate movie star."
As reported by Variety, Clooney is currently promoting the stage version of Good Night, and Good Luck, his 2005 Academy Award-nominated movie starring David Strathairn as Edward R. Murrow. The film portrays the journalist's clash (usually broadcast live on television) against U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy in the times of McCarthyism, and the witch hunt that ensued when far too many Americans were accused of communism.

The face of romantic movies is done! George Clooney has decided to leave romantic comedies behind. At 63, the actor shared his thoughts during an interview on “60 Minutes” while promoting his new Broadway play, “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
He made it clear that he’s done with romance on the big screen. “Look, I’m 63 years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men,” Clooney said. “That’s not my job. I’m not doing romantic films anymore.”
Clooney’s career has been packed with memorable roles, including plenty of romantic leads. He charmed audiences in films like “One Fine Day” in 1996 with Michelle Pfeiffer and “Intolerable Cruelty” in 2003 alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones. His most recent romantic comedy, “Ticket to Paradise,” came out in 2022 and paired him with Julia Roberts.
Now, Clooney is shifting gears. His Broadway debut in “Good Night, and Good Luck” marks a new chapter.

It wouldn’t be referred to as the Free World without democracy and dissent co-existing among the people. However, the US takes the thought a step further by having movie stars and business moguls battle it out in the public sphere. Being one of the best actors of this generation, George Clooney’s voice reaches the masses and has the power to influence them along the way. George Clooney is arguably one of the most popular leading men in Hollywood. However, the actor says he no longer has much interest in the romance genre.
"Look, I'm 63 years old. I'm not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men," Clooney told 60 Minutes. That's not my job. I'm not doing romantic films anymore," he added. The actor is currently preparing for his Broadway debut in the upcoming production of Good Night, and Good Luck. The stage play is adapted from the 2005 film of the same name which starred David Strathairn as the newsman.
Clooney, who appeared in the movie as Fred Friendly, co-wrote the play with Grant Heslov. When asked if he wished he had made the move to Broadway sooner, the actor was candid with his response. As comedians were joking about Donald Trump at the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize on Sunday night, the president was fixated on a 60 Minutes segment about George Clooney.
The actor is starring on Broadway as Edward R. Murrow in an adaption of Good Night, and Good Luck.
Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Why would the now highly discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second rate movie ‘star,’ and failed political pundit. He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog. Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for ‘Kamala,’ only to soon realize that that was not going to work out to well.”

George Clooney spoke with 60 Minutes tonight about the upcoming Broadway adaptation of his Oscar-nominated movie, Good Night, and Good Luck. In the play Clooney, now 63, plays newsman Edward R. Murrow, a role he said he was not ready to play when he directed the film in 2005.
“Murrow had a gravitas to him that at 42 years old I didn’t — I wasn’t able to pull off,” he told 60 Minutes’ Jon Wertheim.
The flip side of that, said Clooney, is that there are roles he once played for which he’s now no longer a fit.
“Look, I’m 63 years old,” the actor told Wertheim. “I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men. That’s not my job. I’m not doing romantic films anymore.”

George Clooney’s op-ed urging Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential election was considered a major turning point in the beleaguered former president’s campaign.
Now the veteran actor is explaining why he thought Donald Trump won instead of Biden’s top-of-the-ballot replacement, Vice President Kamala Harris.
His explanation reflects a common refrain among Democratic supporters since November: It wasn’t the policies that were unpopular, it was the messaging that was ineffective.
“The Biden administration was terrible at explaining that we’re a world economy, where we were actually doing better than all the other G7 countries,” Clooney told The New York Times in a profile published online late Thursday. “They were bad at telling the story because their messenger was not working at his best, to say the least.”
Gallup polling months before the election however, showed that issues like immigration, crime, homelessness and inflation were...

George Clooney is sharing his thoughts on Joe Biden’s administration, months after thanking the former president for being “selfless” in stepping down from the 2024 presidential campaign. In a new interview with the New York Times, the actor commented on the Biden team’s issues ahead of Trump’s election.

The presidential election isn't what George Clooney was hoping for, but don't expect the Academy Award-winning actor to get too riled up about it. During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote the Broadway adaptation of his critically acclaimed film Good Night, and Good Luck, Clooney spoke about Donald Trump's election victory. As many will recall, Clooney was a vocal supporter of former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Although Trump's presidency is not what Clooney wanted, the actor and filmmaker stood behind the democratic process, asking host Stephen Colbert:
"What am I supposed to do? You know, storm the f**king Capitol?"
Clooney was referring to the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, where approximately 2,000 to 2,500 rioters entered the Capitol building; some participated in looting, vandalism, and assault on Capitol police and journalists. Since commencing his second term, Trump has pardoned about 1,500 rioters.

George Clooney, who was instrumental to Joe Biden stepping down during the presidential election, has taken a common sense approach to Donald Trump’s victory. The actor appeared on The Late Show to discuss his new Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck, an adaptation of his 2005 film about journalist Edward R. Murrow.
Host Stephen Colbert asked Clooney, who will embody Murrow on stage, “Why do you think it’s a good idea to bring back a play right now about a man in journalism who is standing up against both corporate and political interests?...

Late-night TV will look a little more normal this week. That's because The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is back with brand new episodes beginning Monday, February 17,
Last week, Stephen Colbert and his team took the week off. It meant there was a void in late-night TV as the genre's top host didn't get his chance to speak on some of the week's biggest stories.
But that all changes tonight. Colbert is back and The Late Show wll be brand-new for Monday night. And the timing couldn't be better.
The rest of late-night TV is off on Monday night to observe the Presidents Day holiday. And with the exception of The Late Show and After Midnight, late-night TV plans to go dark for the rest of the week.
That means no Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, or Seth Meyers to break down the news or bring Hollywood's biggest names to late-night TV.

Seaview has produced a number of Off-Broadway hits including Hold Onto Me Darling, starring Adam Driver, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, starring Aubrey Plaza, and the immersive Sweeney Todd. Did Batman & Robin teach George Clooney an important lesson? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Yes, the infamous 1997 superhero flick that tanked both critically and commercially wasn’t just a low point for fans but also for George Clooney himself. And yet, the Caped Crusader’s stumble became the ultimate turning point. Clooney didn’t just reflect on the flop—he flipped the script on his career.
“It’s really easy to pick: Batman & Robin. That’s not a joke,” he admitted. “Up until that moment, I was an actor only concerned with finding work. After the failure of that film creatively, I understood that I needed to take control of the films I made, not just the role.”
What followed was nothing short of a Hollywood masterclass. Clooney traded bat-nipples for brilliance, delivering knockout performances in Out of Sight, Three Kings, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?. These weren’t...

Bridgit Mendler once led the cast of Good Luck Charlie and has had a lucrative post-Disney Channel career, with a hint of narrative irony. The beloved family sitcom holds its own against the best Disney Channel original TV shows, depicting Mendler's Teddy Duncan and her family following the unexpected birth of their fourth child. The hook of the series is that Teddy embarks on a project of recording a video diary of advice for her baby sister Charlie (Mia Talerico), with the help of their brothers Gabe (Bradley Steven Perry) and Pj (Jason Dolley).
A recent reunion among some of the Good Luck Charlie cast on Twitch streamer Kai Cenat's "Mafiathon 2" event did not include Mendler, despite her prominence in the series (via People). Meanwhile, other actors who once starred in Good Luck Charlie's contemporary TV shows have only been getting bigger, including the likes of Zendaya and Zac Efron.

After years and years of delivering epic performances in multiple masterpieces spread across numerous genres in a professional acting affair that started back in the late 1970s, George Clooney is finally all set to make his splash in the Broadway world as well. For one, after the television and film sets, it’s finally time now for the stage to experience his expertise.
For about more than four decades, the now-63-year-old Academy Award winner had been busy showcasing his immaculate acting chops in both blockbuster and independent films, earning numerous accolades for the same. That said, jumping into the world where he would be performing in stage adaptations is a significant milestone in his star-studded career.

September 5 director Tim Fehlbaum is opening up about why the now-Oscar contender was the next story he wanted to tell.
“It was the conversation that we — the producers, the writer and I — had with Geoffrey Mason, the real Geoffrey Mason, the character played by John Magaro,” Fehlbaum told The Hollywood Reporter at a special screening on the Paramount lot.
The film, which counts Sean Penn as one of its producers, chronicles the ABC Sports team at the 1972 Munich Olympics as they pivoted from sports reporting to live coverage of the Israeli athletes taken hostage in the Olympic Village. Peter Sarsgaard stars as legendary ABC executive Roone Arledge, while Magaro plays Mason, a young producer for the network’s Olympic coverage.

On November 4, 2005, George Clooney brought the black and white television news drama Good Night, and Good Luck to theaters in wide release. The film, which grossed $54 million globally, went on to be nominated for six Oscars at the 78th Academy Awards, including for best picture. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
George Clooney’s deeply felt docudrama Good Night, and Good Luck provides a snapshot of the moment in history in which a major American television personality named Edward R. Murrow took on the malevolent power of a muckraking U.S. senator named Joseph McCarthy and won.

Venom: The Last Dance star Juno Temple is offering up some interesting details about her new film with legendary director Gore Verbinski. While promoting the final installment of the Venom franchise, in which she reprises her role as Dr. Payne, Temple dished on her upcoming film with Verbinski. The Oscar-winning director is set to make his long-awaited return to the big screen with Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, his first film in eight years.
Known for 2002's The Ring, Disney's first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, and Rango, Verbinski has a singular style and method of filmmaking.
