Throughout the majority of the episodes, Onoda can be seen wearing a Catlike Kompact Pro helmet. This led to the Spanish brand releasing it's own limited edition helmet in 2015.

The cycling shorts design the cyclists wear (which extends upto the waistline like traditional shorts), as shown by the Hakogaku cyclists, became less and less common since the 1980s as they became constraining to wear. Cyclists had to wear suspenders to hold them together. Manufacturers solved this issue by incorporating suspender like design which became bibshorts, which became common for cyclists, to wear, even for a high school team. As this covers up the lower torso and part of the upper torso, extending over the shoulder; Izumida would not be able to show off his abs and part of his pectoids.
