Salem's Lot is widely regarded as one of Stephen King's best - and perhaps more importantly, most terrifying - novels, which is why the new adaptation currently streaming on Max simply didn't cut it for the majority of fans and critics.

The long-awaited movie adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot from director Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home) is now available to stream on Max, unleashing a stylish vampire outbreak without much in the way of story. It turns out that there was a much longer cut of the film that Dauberman ultimately trimmed down for a leaner runtime.

The filmmaker revealed in a recent interview with Den of Geek, “My first cut was about three hours. There’s a lot left out. My first draft of the script is 180-odd pages or something because you’re trying to include everything. And a lot of it has to do with a lot of the secondary characters and stuff that I spoke about. So it was sad to see that stuff go, but it’s like a necessary evil.”

Perhaps, with vocal support from fans, Salem’s Lot may yet head to theaters as Evil Dead Rise did earlier this year.

ABC’s venerable soap General Hospital leads all shows and CBS and Amazon Prime Video top all networks in nominations for the 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which were unveiled Thursday. Winners will be revealed June 26 during a live virtual ceremony on CBS, returning the awards show to broadcast primetime for the first time since 2011.

General Hospital scored a total of 23 noms, edging rivals NBC’s Days of Our Lives (22 noms) and CBS’ Young and the Restless (21) and The Bold and the Beautiful (13). The digital soaps followed, led by Netflix’s Eastsiders and Amazon Prime’s Studio City both with eight noms apiece.

The CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” led all shows in wins at the 46th Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were handed out on Friday night at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

The series won five awards, to four for Amazon Prime Video’s “After Forever” and Baobab Studios’ “Crown: The Legend.” Three awards each went to “Days of Our Lives,” “Sesame Street,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Talk.”

CBS was the leading network, with 12 wins, to 10 for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and PBS.

The show is a precursor to the Daytime Emmy Awards, which will take place on Sunday, May 5.

Baobab Studios, the Vr startup best known for its 2016 animated short “Invasion,” has won 2 Daytime Emmys for outstanding individual achievements in animation for its latest Vr short “Crow: The Legend,” the Television Academy announced Wednesday morning. Baobab character designer Kal Athannassov won the individual achievement award for character design, while Baobab art designer Cody Gramstad was recognized for production design.

The startup won the two Emmys alongside 2 outstanding individual achievement awards in animation given to Disney Channel, as well as one each to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

“We are just really honored to be recognized alongside so many companies that we love and look up to,” said Baobab CEO Maureen Fan in an interview with Variety. “We are proud of Baobab’s passionate and dedicated artists and engineers who have pushed the artistry of using real-time rendering, and enormously gratified by these Emmy wins.”

Two sequels from Disney/Pixar, “Incredibles 2” and “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” led all films in nominations for the 46th Annual Annie Awards, the top prizes given out in the field of animation.

In nominations announced on Monday morning by Asifa-Hollywood, Brad Bird’s “Incredibles 2,” a Pixar Animation Studios film, landed 11 nominations, including Best Animated Feature, Best Directing in an Animated Feature Production and Best Writing in an Animated Feature Production. And there will also be new to Amazon Prime seasons of some of your favorites from other networks, including the final episodes of the Emmy-winning FX drama “The Americans,” all 12 seasons of the groundbreaking police drama “NYPD Blue” and all seven seasons of the Kyra Sedgwick crime series “The Closer.”

Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first appearances on Amazon Prime including the four films in the “Jaws” franchise and the Oscar-winning “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

Amazon Prime members who like tragic spies, sparkle vampires, being-depressed-about-global-warming or old school television have plenty to look forward to in July, as the streaming service is adding a ton of new movies and TV shows.

On the TV front, three new Prime Originals come this month, including Indian stand up series “Comicstaan” on July 13, “Tumble Leaf” on July 24, and “Eat. Race. Win,” a behind-the-scenes look of the Tour de France landing July 27.

The streaming service is also giving members a visit from the Ghost of TV Past on July 1 when it adds undercover-cops-in-high-school Fox series “21 Jump Street,” the complete run of USA Network’s “Burn Notice,” and all 12 seasons of ’90s cop drama “NYPD Blue,” among others.

And skipping ahead to month’s end, “The Americans” season 6 lands on Prime July 29.

Channing Tatum’s weirdo Romanian cop parody Comrade Detective is coming to Amazon Prime on August 4—and you can see a new trailer for it right here—but it’s not the only new content that subscribers will be able to stream while enjoying their free shipping and exclusive sales. They’ll also be getting the reboot of cult superhero hit The Tick, kid shows Lost In Oz and Tumble Leaf, and a whole bunch of movies including Superbad, Florence Foster Jenkins, and five of the Saw movies. (If you want to see Saw VI or Saw VII, they’re already available on Prime.)

“Zootopia,” Disney’s zeitgeist-grabbing, Oscar frontrunner, took best animated feature honors Saturday at Asifa-Hollywood’s 44th Annie Awards, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The Studio Ghibli co-production, “The Red Turtle,” meanwhile, won best indie feature.

Overall, “Zootopia” grabbed six Annies, which also included directing (Byron Howard & Rich Moore), writing (Jared Bush & Phil Johnston), storyboarding, character design, and voice acting (Jason Bateman).

Laika’s stop-motion “Kubo and the Two Strings” earned three awards (character animation, production design, and editorial), along with Guillermo del Toro’s “Trollhunters,” the DreamWorks/Netflix series (character design, character animation, and storyboarding), and the “Pearl” Vr short from Google Spotlight. Within TV/Broadcasting, the Oscar contender took direction (Oscar winner Patrick Osborne), production design, and music.

Disney’s “Moana” was the other big feature winner, collecting two Annies for animated effects and voice acting (Auli’i Cravalho, who tied with Bateman).

Amazon Prime Video has officially launched in over 200 countries, including Australia.

A subscription will set customers back $2.99Usd ($4.03Aud) a month for the first six months, and $5.99Usd ($8.07Aud) thereafter. By comparison, Netflix charges a minimum $8.99 a month and Stan $10.

Australians have been able to access Amazon Prime Video via its Us and UK websites since November — but Amazon.denied that was a soft launch.

Amazon Original series include The Grand Tour, Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle, The Man in the High Castle, Creative Galaxy, Gortimer Gibbon.s Life on Normal Street, Tumble Leaf and Wishenpoof..

Pixar Animation Studios was the big winner at the 43rd Annual Annie Awards, Saturday evening at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Inside Out won Best Animated Feature along with 11 other categories, including Outstanding Music – Michael Giacchino; Outstanding Editing – Kevin Nolting; Outstanding Production Design – Ralph Eggleston; Outstanding Voice Acting – Phyllis Smith as ‘Sadness’; Outstanding Writing – Pete Docter, Meg LeFauve and Josh Cooley; and Best Directing – Pete Docter.

Amazon has ordered a third season of their animated kids show, Tumble Leaf. It's unclear how many episodes have been ordered this time around. The first and second seasons have had 13 episodes each. Six installments of the second season have been released so far.

Created by Drew Hodges, Tumble Leaf is a stop-motion series that features a blue fox named Fig, his caterpillar friend Stick, and other residents of the island of Tumble Leaf. Episodes focus on helping preschoolers learn basic science lessons.

The cast includes Christopher Downs, Brooke Wolloff, Jodi Downs, Landon Clay, Addie Zintel, Gary Littman, Alan Franzenburg, Emily Downs, and Steve Downs.

Amazon has also renewed drama Hand of God, drama The Man in the High Castle and dramedy Red Oaks for second seasons.

Amazon have confirmed that its TV series adaptation of Philip K. Dick's Hugo Award-winning 1962 alternative history novel "The Man in the High Castle" has scored a second season renewal.

Ten new episodes will screen on the streaming service in 2016. That was just the start of a busy day of renewals for the streaming service which also renewed the Ron Perlman-led "Hand of God," the coming-of-age comedy "Red Oaks" and the kid's show "Tumble Leaf".

The company has also handed out series orders to "Highston," "One Mississippi," "Z: The Beginning of Everything," "Good Girls Revolt" and "Patriot" as well as children's series "Danger & Eggs," "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and "Niko and the Sword of Light".

The International Animated Film Society, Asifa-Hollywood, has announced the nominations for the 43rd Annual Annie Awards and "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur," both Pixar movies, led the pack! "Inside Out" received fourteen nominations while "The Good Dinosaur" got nine.

My pick of the year for best animated feature is "Inside Out" but I love Charlie Kaufman's "Anomalisa" as well which picked five noms.

We'll find out the winners of the Annie Awards on February 6th!
