My daughter and I just loved this pilot - everything about it is great, from the character development, the dialogue and character interaction left us wanting more.
My 5-year old is fascinated with building things and loves story books like" Rosie Revere, Engineer" and "The Most Marvelous Thing", so she was thrilled that Dorothy is a fellow tinkerer and she wants to talk about all of her inventions. I liked the interaction between the mother and daughter and that sense that this had all happened before. There are great references to the original while definitely taking the series in it's own direction. The yellow brick road has turned into the yellow brick line and Dorothy's blue and white checkered shoes are reminiscent of the original's dress.
I found each of the characters intriguing and want to know more about their back stories - it seems like they have a lot of fun directions to go with and I don't see them running out of ideas any time soon.
My daughter and I were thrilled to hear that Amazon picked it up and ordered the series. They can't start airing episodes soon enough for us.

I can not understand why this cartoon was not picked up in a heart beat. It is one of the better thought out, quality animated kids shows out there. At first I thought it was a money issue where it costs just too much to make an episode of this quality of a cartoon, but something seems to be missing. Since 2002 and this show has not made any headway? It seems like the show is being held back on alt purpose.
I am convinced there is a agenda in children's programs that is purposely manipulated to only broadcast shows that fit a certain mold. It is not only about the money or the ratings. Money is evil and ratings lie. We all know that by now. But more than that, this show definitely did not fit someone's plan for what children should watch and get exposure to.
It had a good plot line, great animation, the characters were not annoying or just stupidly loud and obnoxious like 90% of the shows on Cartoon Network. I mean this is a show where EVERYONE that I have recommended to say is so much better than anything their children are currently watching. Yet it does not get picked up. Hmm...interesting.

Watched the first episode and found it enchanting. However, wheat is still king in Kansas. Corn is grown more in Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. The episode gives a new twist to this old story. I thought it was cute. It is worth watching.
I watched because I work in the flour milling industry, and I love Kansas! I eventually want to build a model railroad and name the town Emerald, Kansas. Frequently visited by notable historic and fictional Kansas characters.

My kids, and myself admittedly, absolutely loved this pilot! Was gutted to find out that it was a complete flop in 2002 so never got fully released. It's always a shame when something like this goes under the radar and never gets bought by a company when there are so many other horrendous films and TV shows that do! I know that IF this ever got released as a full series my kids would definitely be bugging me to buy it for them or rent it or watch on Netflix/Amazon or wherever. I pray to the guys who made this to go to Netflix and TRY to get this released again, or Amazon, whatever. As I said earlier there's so much bad TV out there it's sad when something my kids loved so much from one episode never made it. Maybe companies need to start letting the right people choose what does and doesn't get shown, and in this instance they should be letting kids do the reviewing for them!
Absolutely loved this pilot - Hoping to see rest of series!
There are so many horrible animated series on the market nowadays with horrible story, vocabulary, bad ideas, weak characters, broken attitude, even the animation is bad, and our poor kids think it's OK to have fun watching such movies (typcal modern cartoon: bombs, wars, explosions, body parts flying, tons of violence, sexual innuendos, tiny or semi-transparent dresses) it's horrible what we expose our kids to – WELL THIS ONE IS FINALLY DIFFERENT!
Now 'Lost in Oz' has high quality content, good language and nice phrases to pick up, it's calm, gentle, characters nicely designed and dressed and so on. From the first minute of watching it I knew it's a great plot, movie and was happy to see some quality series coming out on the market we really deserved it.
Then, yes we parents usually have to watch it to, either to discuss it with kids, maybe before going to sleep talk and foresee what could happen in next episode, or just accompany them.
I love animation, true colors (HDR alike) and everything. It's a kid's movie that kids should follow as an example, nothing below this is accepted for my kids and family It's same class as a high budget Disney movie. Totally respect and love the idea.
Are there any release dates for other episodes??
