Bad luck and hilarious slapstick abound, in this sad sack story of the Murphy family. I've always been a sucker for Disney films, (and this one is not!) See! My luck ran out already. You will be laughing uncontrollably with this family-friendly film whilst eating popcorn and spilling soda on your crotch. See! I may be getting you to giggle a bit already. Enjoy, and if you like my review, give me a thumbs up, thanks and rest in smiles. Pax, Murf
I love Ciara Bravo! It's the first movie I see with her as a protagonist (after her role in Big Time Rush) and I'm glad she's still acting. The story is funny and I think they did a great job with the film in general. In addition, I think the message of the film's ending is very important: It's okay not to be okay. We don't need to be all "normal". We just have to embrace who we are.
This is an alright teenage film for all viewers to watch. I found this teenage film a bit slow. The crew could have added more effort and strength to create this teenage film better. The storyline was a bit weak. The cast selection was alright enough. They committed to the storyline. I am a fan of both Ciara Bravo and Jack Griffo. They both know what they are doing every time that they are on screen. They both have huge careers ahead of them. I felt that the character that Ciara Bravo played was outside her comfort zone. There is a possibility that this teenage film makes viewers reflect on their lives. This is a teenage film that could have been better.
Whether you like this movie depends solely on whether or not you like Ciara Bravo.
First, the movie; it's a silly movie about a family (appropriately named Murphy - as in Murphy's Law everything that can go wrong will) who are cursed with bad luck. The family has managed to live with it. The father has a career as an appliance tester - he can easily cause any appliance to malfunction. The little brother is known for his devastating skateboard wipeouts and is semi- famous from youtube videos. But Ciara's character hasn't made peace with the curse, and she is determined to somehow overturn the curse. Needless to say, her attempts to overturn the curse result in a series of comical mishaps.
She also has a love interest in the story which to me is kind of creepy because she's so young.
But the main character is Ciara Bravo, and this movie depends on her. To me, she's very likable. In fact, I'm hoping she gets a few more major roles before she turns 20 and turns into the next LIndsay or Amanda.
