Dragged but not bad ...

RATED 7/10 Language: Malayalam Source: Nil Media Partner: Zee5

The movie has lot of fun moments and laughed out in lot of scenes. The last twenty minutes are ultimate roller coaster ride. Jeethu Joseph added the thriller flavour to the comic galatta story and it worked out well.

Basil is ultimate and his body language, dialog delivery worked out very well. But the predictable story line and the lagging in here and there are spoiled the pace of the movie.

The too much of comedy flavour killed the thrill factor in the movie. The murder and dead body become another comedy object and it failed to give the impact.

One time watchable.

Fun

Comedies are where I have the most disagreements with most people. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of comedies that are more beloved and often find myself enjoying the ones that aren't that popular. From a lot of reviews, it seems that's the case with this movie too. Nunakkuzhi is a comedy of errors with a great ensemble cast. The first half of the movie was entertaining enough but it was filled with Jeethu Joseph's signature overbearing music which didn't completely work for me. Even though a little over the top, the cast did a great job of keeping me invested in it. But then the second half was a laugh riot for me. Maybe I was sucked into the movie by that time and got used to the over-the-topness of the movie. But when all the smaller stories started colliding, it was incredible watching the cast being hilarious. Basil being a hateable weirdo rich mamma's boy was a bit of a surprise but he was great as always. Watching Manoj K Jayan after a long time was also pleasant. Siddique, Baiju, Grace, Nikhila, and everyone were just amazing to watch as they were fully committed to this over-the-topness that is rarely seen now and even rarer to see it work. Even though I enjoyed it a lot, the film has its flaws. There are a lot of portions where it did feel like it could have better pacing. The characters could have been a bit more well-rounded. The comedy in the first hour had moments where it felt like they were giving space for laughter in the theater but the people weren't actually laughing. It also felt like they could have made it a bit deeper because there were a lot of things in it that had the potential to add layers beyond what they did. But overall it was a fun two hours that I really enjoyed.

Nunakuzhi - Liar's day out

Nunakuzhi - Liar's day out

A humorous engaging story telling by Jeethu Joseph built over endless lies.

The plot of the movie revolves around the heaps of lies that two individuals tell to cover the trouble they accidentally got into and the interconnected events that they come across forms the storyline.

Krishnakumar has written an engaging script with many humorous moments except for few flaws in areas that makes the story predictable. The way he connected all the characters in the story and their placement was impressive.

A highlight of this movie is evident through the brilliant casting of many versatile actors in the movie. Impressive performances by Basil,Grace,Siddique,Baiju Santhosh,Manoj K Jayan,Saiju Kurup,Althaf & Binu Pappu.

Good story telling by Jeethu in the humour genre after My Boss. The placement of the song 'Hallelujah' synced well with the situation. Jeethu has conveyed the story through a humorous track without losing the essence of the screenplay keeping the audience absorbed to the movie.

A fun to watch entertainer that is definitely a laughter treat for the audience.

Rating - 3.5/5.

Funny Movie

This movie is Hilarious. Actors have done a good job. The story is very engaging and unpredictable with lots of twists and turns. Loved it. Basil Joseph is right for the role and I loved Siddique's character.

It's been a while since I watched a good funny Malayalam movie.

The movie flows effortlessly and every scene and dialogue are nice to watch. What I liked most is, in every scene the actors in the background is worth watching. Those expressions can make you chuckle.

Who ever wrote this story is a genius. There's lot of attention given to the details and the direction is also really good. There is only one song in the movie and it is placed aptly.

Below average and unbearable movie experience

The name Jeethu Joseph was the first thing that tempted me to watch this movie. The cast was full of talented people which sort of guarantees a minimum entertainment. However, it turned out to be extremely boring. The movie plot seemed interesting but the way it was delivered didn't work for me. I know comedy movie plots are extremely illogical so I am not talking about the story. I am talking about the comedy. I waited for an eternity to laugh during the movie. Basil's comic timing didn't seem to work in the movie. Nikhila Vimal was there with the same expressions as she had in Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil. Baiju and Grace Anthony were the only characters which were better than the others. I wish Aju Varghese had more comedy dialogues in the movie. The best thing about the movie was the ending. The director ends the movie with the phrase "May be continued", but I genuinely wish it not to be continued. And if continued may be they could make some better comedy material.

I haven't laughed this hard in a long time

What a movie and what a brilliant casting! Kudos to Jeethu Joseph for a creating a brilliant comedy movie after a long time. The comedic elements worked really well for me in this movie, and the ensemble cast, including Aju Varghese and Swasika, just stole the show.

I don't have any negatives to share about this one but I felt the editing could have been a bit better. Jeethu's technical department has a great standard and I have been noting that since a long time. I'm not saying it was bad but I felt it lacked the lustre unlike his last films.

Basil Joseph has done a great job once again. Hopefully, he will continue choosing the right scripts. Kudos to everyone once again.

Abnoxious

Jeethu you failed in your attempt. What was this? A piece of comedy or a thriller? Or were you trying to create bring a new genre called "confusement". Is this how you measure the patience of an audience? Utter cacophony....had to switch off the tv after half an hour. You have aptly demonstrated how to dilute talents and bring them to their worst skills. Could have handled better. Did not expect such a mediocre craft from you. Abnoxious at its best is what is to be expected. The punches could not be registered and were loosely tied swaying the movie aimlessly. Watch it at ones own risk!!!

I beleive that in the era of you tube when the entertainment contents are in plenty, the attempt shown in this movie clearly shows clear lack of planning.

Very entertaining. Good movie, full of comedy.

I watched it in Telugu, and the dialogues were hilarious. It's a good, entertaining movie that I watched twice, back to back. I haven't seen such a hilarious movie in recent times. All the actors performed very well, and every actor had a humorous role.

A path breaking slapstick comedy from a crime thriller master

A complete laugh riot with no hard feelings from a director who is known for his serious crime thriller movies...the movie somewhat looks like taken by JeethuJoseph out of frustration of his past couple of movies and his tamil movie not doing well in box office ... This is out of his genre and man he rocked ... He has made a comedy crime thriller u can call it with serious actors unlike comedy actors .... Majority of actors in this movie are known for more serious roles and they create a laugh riot.... The story is nothing path breaking but Jeethu who is a screenplay master used his strength to full potential to create this movie and like his other previous movies like Dhrishyam he linked his first scene to the main spot of whole movie... Definitely worth a watch and the dialogues are key for this movie... All characters small or large creates laughter with serious faces unlike a santhanam crap joke movies .... Malayalam movie directors proves that they are good at any genre at any small budget... GO FOR IT.

" A Hit and a Miss Experience "

~ ' Nunakuzhi ' directed by Jeetu Joseph starring Basil Jospeh was a hit and a miss experience for me at the theatre. There were moments that I laughed while there were also moments where I was bored by the film. The film's title is apt for the story. The central premise of the film is how lies can put you into grave danger and how it could affect our lives. The plot was interesting but the execution wasn't much. There were a lot of things and characters in the film who don't have a proper arc or ending. The film's first half was okayish at best and the second half is where most of the funny moments happen with Baiju being my standout of the film. Basil , Siddique, Manoj K Jayan , Grace Antony and Aju Varghese has done a decent job aswell. The scores done by Vishnu Shyam was nice , direction by Jeethu Joseph while it's not bad but it's not that Jeethu Joseph level. I could blame my average experience on my ' My Boss ' level film expectation or the crowd as it was not packed. Overall , it was a timepass film for me and nothing else.

A movie worth watching

A really feel good movie. Enjoyed the movie right from the beginning to the end. A good family entertainer comedy movie. Each one has acted well contributing for d success of d movie. DON'T MISS THIS MOVIE.

On the whole the movie is hilarious, gripping and the story moves very smoothly giving no space for any drag or lacuna. There are no songs and dance sequences, enabling smooth flow of the story. Towards the end story goes little haywire and ending is too fast and sudden. Looks like already next part of the movie is planned. Hope the director will not spoil the second part if and when produced.

Just and average company movie

Nunakuzhi is an average movie from jeethu Joseph, its follows the same format of previous comedy films of priyadarshan(Kakakuil, vettom) basil joseph and baiju are the perfect cast but others are over performed then what the character required. One of proven actors siddiqe and manoj k jayan are performed other ways than what the character required.

I think this kind movie will get good acceptance from women and family audience becomes it a one on one full comedy movie with out even a logic, if we watching this kind movie we need to place our brain outside the theater otherwise we can't enjoy.

Happy watching.

A simple comedy, that's not pretending to be anything more.

The plot isn't super unpredictable. Some actors are doing the exact same roles that they have been doing for a long time. The format isn't new. In short, there's nothing new here. But all that's fine, because Jeethu Joseph has executed this comedy of errors to perfection. This isn't a crime thriller where he needed to keep the audience guessing. It's not a typical family drama where he needed the audience to feel empathetic towards the characters. It's not a hero centric movie where he needed the audience to share the hero's agony and revel in his triumph.

What it is, is a chaos fest, that escalates as the movie progresses and keeps you engrossed, all the while making you laugh your hearts out. It doesn't try to be anything more than that. So give logical thinking a break, and enjoy this fantastic and stupid ride.

Fu©kin awesome movie (I don't know why people are giving bad ratings and reviews)

I just watched the most fu©kin awesome comedy movie, and I'm still reeling from the laughter and sheer entertainment value it delivered! I mean, what's wrong with people these days? I scanned through the reviews and ratings, and I'm flabbergasted - how could anyone possibly give this masterpiece a bad review? Have we become so jaded and cynical that we can't recognize genius when it's staring us right in the face? This movie had me laughing out loud from start to finish, with its razor-sharp wit, impeccable timing, and flawless comedic performances.

The writing was clever and original, with jokes that caught me off guard and had me giggling uncontrollably. The cast was perfectly assembled, with each actor bringing their A-game to deliver memorable performances that added depth and nuance to the story. And let's not forget the direction - expertly crafted to maximize the comedic impact of each scene, with impeccable pacing that kept the momentum going throughout.

Given the toxic online discourse that often surrounds movie releases, I was prepared for some negativity. But the vitriol aimed at this film seems particularly misplaced. Are people genuinely incapable of recognizing comedic genius when they see it? Have we become so entrenched in our own opinions that we can't allow ourselves to be surprised and delighted by something new and innovative?

If you're reading this, do yourself a favor: ignore the haters and watch this movie. Trust me, you won't regret it. It's a game-changer, a breath of fresh air in a comedic landscape that's grown stale and predictable. Don't let the naysayers dictate your viewing experience - experience it for yourself and form your own opinion.

In fact, I'd argue that this movie's "problem" is that it's ahead of its time. It's challenging, subversive, and unapologetic, refusing to cater to the lowest common denominator or pander to the easily offended. This movie is a clarion call to comedy fans everywhere: wake up, people! Demand more from your comedies! Don't settle for lazy, formulaic humor when you can have something that truly pushes the boundaries.

So go ahead, give this movie a chance. I promise you won't be disappointed. With its fearless humor, clever writing, and standout performances, it's an instant classic that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. And who knows? You might just find yourself, like me, wondering what's wrong with all those people giving it bad ratings and reviews.

In conclusion - or rather, in enthusiastic endorsement - this movie is an absolute must-watch.

Worst watching Worth watching in OTT

At best, an average movie which is not worth watching in theater unless the ticket prices are very low!

A comedy of errors, 90s kids have seen many of these, thanks to Priyadarshan!

The 2nd half has an 10 to 12 mins of comic caper sequence which is hilarious.

Rest of it is slapstick and even appears contrived at times.

All the actors are awesome as they are all talented stars. But the script is slapstick with some comic moments. Worth in OTT.

It somewhere resembles, just like old memories, Boeing-Boeing sorts (only oldie Malayalis know it) like a trivia, it just unfolds. Only who knows the comedy LOL. At the execution point Jeethu might have tried My Boss Dileep Comedy which worked, but Comedy didn't work here, people considered his serious work like Drishyams & Memories, very bad.

No repeat value.

Worst watching Worth watching in OTT.

A film to take all your weariness away

This film is having a super comic plot where the central character is ready to merge into sporadic events of a night along with all other developed characters. The screenwriter has done a phenomenal job. There was not any loose connection in the entire film, even the speedy bikers without helmets did a good job on their parts. Apparently, their role was to develop the character of the police officer and it did brilliantly like all others, in this film.

The tone is obviously set on comic relief and a puzzling journey aided it with suspense and tension. It didn't feel boring for a second. A must watch for the people who loves comedy.

Comedy of errors!

An IT raid on Eby Zachariah's company leads to IT assistant commission Bhamakrishnan seizing the devices including Eby's personal laptop for further enquiry. Eby has his private video with his wife saved in his laptop and she gives him an ultimatum to retrieve it at any cost. Meanwhile, Rashmitha feels humiliated by her husband and his doctor friend Jayadevan during her divorce case hearing. She confronts Jayadevan violently and later tries to end her life. Eby tries to steal the laptop but ends up hiding in Rashmitha's flat and even drinks the poison laced drink she had made for herself. What happens that night when the police, a film actor and hired goons get involved in the mess, forms rest of the story.

The over the top comedy is something up Basil Joseph's ally and he aces his role with ease. As the humor is driven by the situation and ofcourse several misunderstandings, it works mostly in evoking laughs especially during the hospital scene and later towards the end. I wish Althaf Salim's segment was better handled but the final reveal involving him made me laught the most. Nunakkuzhi remained a decent watch, thanks to the performances and may be it won't work the same in repeat watches. The comic timing of Basil Joseph and Grace Antony along with Nikhila Vimal in the end, guarantees laughs, making it a decent one time watch.

Good

Not your typical Jeethu Joseph movie, and that was a refreshing change. Always wanted him to do more My Boss kind movies, and he's certainly hit the spot with Nunakkuzhi.

Nuna Kuzhi (lies leading people to fall into pits) is a story of lies and deception happening in different locations in the same town, all converging to form a hilarious climax. Characters done by Nikhila Vimal or Lena don't have much screentime, and yet were so impactful (read hilarious), and those done by Grace Antony, Basil Joseph, Siddique, Baiju were all so typical of them, but yet they're gonna linger around with the audience for a while.

Unsure why the theater I watched it in, that too on a Saturday afternoon, had only like 15 people in attendance. Hope word of mouth publicity does it for this amazing movie. It's a laugh riot, so don't miss it in theaters.

A basil Entertainer

Nunakkuzhi" is a Malayalam comedy that will keep you in stitches from start to finish. Basil Joseph delivers a standout performance as the lead, showcasing his impeccable comedic timing. Sidhique, the veteran comedian, pairs perfectly with Basil, creating an unstoppable duo.

Baiju's portrayal of the police officer adds a delightful layer to the story, bringing a fresh dynamic to the comedic ensemble. The supporting cast, including notable Malayalam actors, elevates the film's humor.

While the storyline may echo familiar themes from previous comedies, the pacing is expertly managed, ensuring a seamless viewing experience. The witty dialogues, clever plot twists, and slapstick humor make "Nunakkuzhi" an entertaining ride.

. Baiju's impressive performance as the police officer

1. Familiar storyline, albeit with fresh treatment 2. Some predictable comedic tropes

"Nunakkuzhi" is a must-watch for fans of Malayalam comedy. If you enjoy lighthearted, entertaining films with plenty of laughs, this movie is for you.

Decent comedy but unhappy with main plot and beef references

Watched this movie as its directed by jeethu. First of all the main plot which kicks starts the movie of recording video of husband and wife is absurd. Wrong message to society. References to beef at all hotel scenes is again unholy and hurts Hindu sentiments. Why not chicken, mutton or pork? Disappointed at malayalam movies always showing beer references. Remember all Christians and Muslims are converted from Hindus in India and it's history and fact. Being Hindu majority country Hindu religious sentiments are taken for granted. Apart from this movie is decent entertainer. Hope jeethu avoids hurting Hindu sentiments in upcoming movies.

A Masterpiece Comedy movie from Jethu Joseph

What a hilarious and entertaining movie! I never expected the Malayalam industry to deliver such a fantastic comedy film. Later, I realized that many high-class Bollywood comedies were officially remade from Malayalam cinema. The balance between humor and meaningful storytelling is impressive. The plot, acting, and direction were spot on, making this movie a must-watch. It's incredible how the Malayalam industry continues to influence other film industries, especially Bollywood, with its unique blend of comedy and emotion.

A Masterpiece Comedy movie from Jethu Joseph and of course my favorite Malaylam industry.

"Nunakkuzhi" is a Malayalam film known for its intimate storytelling and unique portrayal of rural life. Directed with a keen sense of simplicity, the movie dives deep into the ordinary lives of its characters, offering a mix of humor and emotion. The story follows a set of everyday individuals in a small village, bringing to light their struggles, aspirations, and connections in a way that is deeply relatable yet thought-provoking.

The film excels in its ability to connect with the audience through its authentic depiction of culture, traditions, and the subtle dynamics of relationships. The director's focus on small details makes every scene feel personal, and the performances from the cast complement the narrative beautifully, giving life to each character with depth and authenticity.

Though not fast-paced, Nunakkuzhi offers a refreshing break from mainstream cinema with its emphasis on storytelling over spectacle. Its strength lies in its simplicity and its ability to evoke strong emotions without relying on elaborate plot twists or dramatic turns. A film worth watching if you're interested in quiet, introspective cinema that reflects real life with a touch of humor and poignancy.

One time watch

Nunakuzhi movie is filled with lots of comedic moments throughout, making it an enjoyable watch. The storyline is engaging enough, and at no point does the film feel like it's dragging. The humor keeps the audience entertained from start to finish, ensuring a light-hearted experience. While the plot is relatively simple with not much depth in terms of story content, the performances by the actors make up for it. Each actor plays their role remarkably well, adding charm and relatability to the characters. Great movie to casually watch with family. Overall, Nunakuzhi is a fun watch if you're looking for something entertaining and packed with humor.
