I used to love this anime, until of course I played the games. The anime is way too fast pace and doesn't really give the viewer time to breathe. The game on the other hand is 20-60 hours and you can take your time and savor it. It's also missing the free time in which the characters could be developed.
For me, Danganronpa was a great anime. I loved the characters, the suspense, the plot, everything. I'll always show my gratitude to my friend for introducing it to me. After 13 episodes, however, the show was over. Almost as soon as I had started watching it, it was over. I never played the original video games (but I am aware of some fans' frustration), though I do share the same opinion as many of them: it was too rushed. I wish there were more episodes to learn more aboit the characters, and more episodes for the story to play out. Despite this, however, I still do love it (I gave it a solid 8, after all), and it'll still probably be one of my top 5 animes.
So, who would I recommend this to? I'd say Danganronpa is a good anime for people who love mysteries and can handle blood. I wouldn't suggest it for their first anime, however.

As a huge fan of Danganronpa, I feel like this show is just an okay adaptation of Trigger Happy Havoc. It's not terrible, but Danganronpa is kind of just better off as a game. The animation quality is amazing I will say though as well as the opening. If you aren't too invested in Trigger Happy Havoc, I would say you may find this show enjoyable either fully or mostly. If you're wanting to get into Danganronpa on the other hand, this show isn't recommended to start with. Play Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc first and then watch the show if you're still wanting to watch it after playing the game. When I first watched this show, I saw it had many aspects missing and it felt a bit rushed to get to the end. Not a terrible adaptation, but just okay to say the least. Still enjoyable at times though is something I should mention.
Danganronpa could be a better show if it wasn't so rushed, paid more attention to the characters, and maybe went ahead with the game. I suggest watching it through the first murder case to decide if you want to continue or not. Regardless, go into this without high expectations or play the game as most players suggested.
I absolutely love the teddy bear Monokuma, he's like my spirit animal with the way he comes out with stuff and that's always trolling to get on everyones nerves. As dark I am, I think he is just totally cute! I was quite surprised that most of the reviews here didn't like this first adaption of Danganronpa at all! I find it enjoyable and that each character had their own unique personalities. The psychological vibe on this would really dive you into a world of thriller and mystery like I find that entertaining lol! Seriously though I thought this first adaption was class and I only found out about this anime series not too long ago.
I am really glad I got the chance to watch this anime, it was terrifyingly good. Also note for the parents, do not show this to kids, there so much messed up stuff on it that it is quite scary! In my opinion, I give this anime a 8/10 for its thrilling ride of monopoly!!!!

- TriviaThe blood in the anime is pink due to the somewhat iconic status of the color choice in the game. This was originally to bypass Japanese censorship laws that would have heavily restricted the game's sales (equivalent to an ESRB rating of AO: "Adults Only," which prevents the game from being sold in stores) if the blood had been realistically red.
- Crazy creditsSPOILER: The beginning of the credits sequence is made to look like an arcade game, with a high score of 11037. This score corresponds to the sequence of "numbers" that turned out to be Leon's name written in blood at a crime scene early in the series.
