Okay one to watch. I do love Teri Hatcher and she was fun to watch. Typical characters. Worldly French mother, spoiled rich son, obnoxious ex hubby. The scenery was absolutely stunning. Quite amazing how a mother and son along with a couple chalet girls run that whole place. And that "suite" in the staff quarters!!! Looked better than her ex hubby's room! I do have one burning question. How does one fit 5 different complete color coordinated ski outfits into that one small suitcase she brought with her? And a plethora of sweaters and dresses too. She needed to do a video on how to pack a suitcase in the show. 🤣
Teri Hatcher was fabulous. Material was not the best but she did a terrific job. Her lead actor not so good. Mother of the son was very good and brought warmth to the role. Lifetime should def do more rob coms and def use Teri Hatcher. She is a great comedic actress The surrounding cast was fine but not to much to do. My biggest criticism is the amount of commercials. It ruined the flow of the movie. The x husband was fine should have given him more to do the hotel atmosphere was a great backdrop. Reminded me of that fabulous series hotel with Connie Selleca. All in all a very nice Xmas movie without all the Xmas fluff.
As much as I've enjoyed many an under 35s movie, there just aren't enough flicks that portray/celebrate the middle years - something like 'Christmas at the Chalet' is much more rewatchable because I won't grow out of it like the others. This has a good mix of the past, the present and digital worlds, showing how they can compliment each other if we don't get obsessed the first and last. Likewise it is good to complete the mundane with a little bit of sparkle. Co-incidentally I'd just watched another Teri Hatcher / Dan Payne romance flick so it was weird seeing them at odds here, but also backed up the premise that they once were an item.
Yes Christmas movies have no original plots and if you're lucky they're filmed at a scenic real location instead of the Hallmark studio lot in Vancouver. There are a few of the Christmas movie actress troupe that can actually carry a movie (ex. Bethany Joy Lenz) such that's its watchable. Terri Hatcher is now in that small group IMHO. This movie is in reality a Terri vehicle so if you like her (I do) then sit back and enjoy. Otherwise you may want to skip it. Scenery is ok but mostly generic Colorado ski area. Actors are competent but are overshadowed by TH. Dialog / Direction is focused on Hatcher, so it works as long as she is performing. All in all a watchable holiday movie thanks to TH.
Teri Hatcher, 61, is another of the older actresses, and deservedly so, to get to be her bubbly cheerful entertainment personality in this Lifetime Christmas romantic comedy. As an ex-television celebrity, divorced, and a brand new influencer, Teri goes to Aspen invited by her son for Christmas where he is collaborating with a company to create a limited-edition snowboard product. Her ex-husband with a younger woman has also decided to go to Aspen for his turn to spend time with his son. Through a last minute issue at the Chalet, Teri finds herself having to literally work through a problem when she arrives, accomplished with style and with appropriate editing. This rom-com script appears to distinguish itself from other good-feel movies by avoiding the typical stereotypical situations found in most rom-com movies and instead focuses on Teri's character's rather awkward situation that blends well with the movie. With good editing, this movie has good pacing, strikes a good balance of comedy and drama. At the same time, however, the movie struggles to find a crisp emotional tone and an almost but not excellent presentation of authenticity of the required dramatic conflict scene for this genre that occurs in the chalet's restaurant and the climax when it comes to the skiing outing. An entertaining, light-hearted movie that attempts something different but one that doesn't quite succeed.
