This has been happening a lot over the last couple years. I stumble on to a show that might still be on the air that I love and that sinking feeling begins is it still being made. This was a crushing blow. How with 8000 streaming channels with more everyday and the fact that past tv shows that were canceled are getting new life how does this not have a spot somewhere. My first thought and the one that makes the most sense is period shows like this being set in the old west are more expensive. The other thing that could happening is that calling it a improvised tv show with only an outline of the story maybe scared people off. I was completely unaware of that aspect of this show and I really can't notice it. These are very talented people with quick minds. It's really sad this is no longer being made and I can't imagine a Family Guy scenario since that revival was based on dvd sales and I don't believe those are made any longer. If you have Hulu watch this show its so good.
I've watched it thru twice. Once a few years ago then rediscovered it. I can't believe that Lehr (Hoyle) isn't doing more things. Very funny. As a matter of fact, saw this before Deadpool was even a possibility and thought that this guy could play him under a mask. Maybe not the physical stuff, but the quirky nature he has. He'd be the sort of talent I'd like to make a movie/show with lol.
Wanda and the mortician/medical examiner were perfect supporting characters. Not anyone I didn't like in the show.
Also, that Honey dance in season 2......... wow.

I discovered this on Hulu when I was just flipping around not too long ago.
That this is improvised is the real cherry on top of this ice cream sundae of a show.
So many running gags! I love it!
I realize people who watch television and movies for the sole purpose of critiquing them and sharing their pretention with the rest of the world will hate this show, but this isn't a show for the Sundance Festival. It's for entertainment purposes only.
Another reviewer mentioned Blazing Saddles and this show really does remind me of the Mel Brooks movies, with their dead pan humor and innuendo.
And I also realize the "woke" crowd are going to come on here to tell us all how offended we should be, too.
This isn't a show to help us be better, stronger, more loving people. It's an improvised comedy show. Period. If it didn't offend me, I wouldn't want to watch it.
I gotta say, as great as the undertaker is, the deputy gives me so much to laugh about.
It's too bad Hulu didn't give this a chance to catch on. It's actually a pretty funny show.

No idea what to expect from this, but definitely enjoyably weird.
Basically it's the humour of Curb, Spinal Tap et al transplanted to the Old West. The set up has an Ichibod Crane feel to it, urban educated sheriff brings his city ideas to the backwards west, but it really works. All the cast play it nicely, lots of sharp, deadpan lines, with the undertaker (Bob Clendenin) especially good.
The whole thing has an almost homemade quality to it, which is great. It doesn't feel like anyone tried to get them to soften the edges and it's all the better for it.
Amidst all the bland stuff out there I do hope it lasts.

I found this show to be hilarious. The main character Is super funny and witty. It is a super funny concept and one could only that this is how it was back in the day. The little drinking game you can play while the show is genius. Finally someone makes a truly comical western TV show. I was a really big fan of there previous show 10 Items or less. Bob Clendenin is super comical as the undertaker. His comedy is subtle yet absolutely hilarious. I have been waiting for them to come out with a new show. Nancy and John Lehr have done it again. I had a blast watching this season and can only hope for another. My fingers are crossed.

- TriviaNancy Hower (Co-Creator/ Director) admitted in an interview that because of the completely improvised script of the show, she will keep a camera focused on John Lehr (Sheriff Hoyle) at all times during a scene. This allows her to capture all of Johns performance as he has a tendency to move around a lot.
