This is a ghost investigating show, BUT, it is also a show about people being true to themselves and living their lives as an inspiration to others. It's about not being confined by other's expectations and it's about the trials each person has faced throughout their life. You do not have to be queer to enjoy this show. Anyone who feels different from the 'norm' will feel a kinship to the cast of Living for the Dead. Empathy for ourselves and empathy for other people, living and dead, goes a long way in healing the traumas that can cause paranormal activity. Sometimes the dead still need to be heard before they can fully move on.
Halfway through episode two, and I've had all the emotions! I cried in episode one and came close in episode two. I've laughed out loud, smiled, been nervous... The heart of each investigator shows through and I'm enjoying getting to know them. The production, editing, visual experience, soundtrack are all top notch imo. And the Kristen Stewart narration is the icing on the cake.
It's a new refreshing take on reality tv. I love the representation here too. I was already a follower and fan of Ken Boggle but love learning more about him and his fellow investigators. Looking forward to a second season.

These cats are queer but they're also paranormal investigators. If you think that's a little too rich, you'd be surprised how well the marginalized in society can find ways to empathize with people going through struggles that other people can't actually see or believe. If the group is improvising their way through their investigations, they're really good at it. They're not "looking for evidence" so much as accepting the evidence and looking for solutions to the problems. That it always ends nice and pat is a bit TLC of them, but the journey is fantastic. They connect with their destination hosts and discover acceptance wherever they go, which is honestly a breath of fresh air for queer journeys. I suspect everyone is screened before participating, of course, but this is a show at its core about acceptance. Where other paranormal investigations are essentially circus freak sideshow performances, in this one, we get to know the performers and we get to see the real story is usually a few layers beneath the popcorn cheesiness often shallowly on display.
I am serially so happy this show exists. Right away the cast has people I would feel safe with. Learning their backstories and specialties is so interesting and fun. The way they use their abilities to heal the living and the dead is so entertaining and enlightening. The flow and cadence of the show really grabs me and I want to learn more. The random breaks of humor provide a great laugh to provide a breath of fresh air and cut the tension of serious moments, while still honoring the history of what took place in a haunted location. It is wonderful to see and feel queer representation in the paranormal community. Thank you for creating this show!
So I went on a true crime tour with Ken Boggle and he recommended watching his new show, when it first came out I didn't really know the full extent of what it was about but the concept of these queer investigators going out and not only investigating places but also actively helping people with their businesses, their lives, and relationships, but they also have some of the most deep and clarifying talks that even has an impact on me, I recommend at least giving the show a chance, the cast is so beautiful and so refreshing and I can't recommend this show more, btw Ken Boggle is absolutely hilarious in person too!
