I turned this on Netflix not sure if i'd like this guy or not.
He starts of by ripping us Aussies for five minutes - with a name like Shane I thought he might even be Australian - but bring it on big boy - we have thick skin :p
By the end, I had become his newest biggest fan. This guy is effing funny. Top of the heap funny. The last time I laughed this hard was when Bill Burr was in his prime.
And it felt like a new era of comedy - fear of cancel culture is in the rearview mirror, and all the better for it. No US-centric political lecturing of the audience, no virtue signalling, no vacuous pandering, and no throwing of stones from a glass house.
This is definitely someone to keep an eye on in the world of comedy. I think he's going to rise fast.
Will definitely watch this again in coming days. And already waiting for the next special.
Bravo Shane - top notch.

I won't over complicate it: this is a guy completely unafraid of comedy in 2023, and it's downright refreshing.
I cannot believe the tightrope that he has to walk for some of these jokes, but the fact that he keeps going and is unapologetically just doing whatever he has to do to get a laugh out of the audience is a comedian who understands that he's not a philosopher or a politician: he's a jester. Shane Gillis absolutely knocks it out of the park.
Keep an open mind and understand that this guy is just trying to make people laugh, and I assure you you'll have a good time. I'm at times surprised a company like Netflix even posted this.

No idea who had to get strong armed into releasing this but I'm glad it happened. This was hilarious and a breath of fresh air. Gillis never missed a beat, he took chances and delivered on them, it was so fun that it ended before I knew it. The transitions between bits and the handling of what some might consider sensitive issues was masterful. This special is up there with the Norm MacDonalds specials and Sandler's 100% Fresh. Is it worth it a Netflix subscription considering how much garbage they produce? No. I would rather pay Gillis and have him retain total creative control than support Netflix and their steady stream of unwatchable specials.
With the oversaturation of cancel culture friendly, unfunny content from Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura, Shane Gillis returns to bring it all down. Shane really throttles the line the entire special, stepping over it and then crossing right back. Sure, there were a few jokes that didn't resonate with me, and watching Shane's awkward body mannerisms made me as uncomfortable as he probably was; but when the jokes hit, they hit hard. My only complaint is the set probably could have used another 10 minutes of material. The question most people should be asking after watching is, when do we get another Shane special?
While he is not my kind of comic (stick with me here)!, I applaud him for his ability to go deep into topics that far far too many comics today are afraid to even think about let alone get up on stage anywhere and actually talk about and make fun of!
Comics are supposed to make fun of literally everything that we (I precious and dear - from disabilities (which if we don't have, we know and love someone who does - even if they don't know it), to color and (my favorite) the color of cocks.
His descriptions are detailed, I'll leave it at that, and most of them are hilarious! Some go on a bit long, but hey, don't we all.
I see I've used up the much loathed and totally unnecessary 600 minimum characters on this on excellent character.
