Maurice Rocco plays a hot piano and sings some scatted lyrics, while pretty girls dance in this soundie.
Soundies were music videos in the 1940s. They were played on a video jukebox called the Mills Panaram. Drop in a dime, and you got a three-minute film from a reel of ten. From 1940 through 1947 Mills and other producers turned out more than two thousand of these films featuring a variety of artists from current stars like Fats Waller to future stars like Doris Day, with lots of talented performers who are not so well remembered. Any popular musical genre might appear on the Panaram, and the gradual change in tastes kept the choice even wider.
