"Quick, we've found someone who the public like. This is unexpected. We have to now put them on absolutely everything in our schedules until people get sick of them".

I imagine the rallying cry went something like this at TV towers and we ended up with Jay Blades (fine on the 'Repair Shop, dire though it is) on this programme which does not do him any favours in the slightest.

When are TV bosses going to realise that sometimes less is more, that certain TV personalities have their niche, and should be allowed to play out their 15 minutes of fame in that area.

Trying to shoe-horn Blades into every TV role going will backfire.
