Babe Camp

This film is so bad that it makes most other films look good just because this film is so much worse. It is not quite the worst film I have ever seen but it's definitely Bottom 10.

The "humour" is the sort of thing 12 year old boys would find immature. The acting from most of the cast is worse than you'd get in a primary school nativity play. The script is so clunky and badly written that you wonder if English is the writer's first language.

I am desperately trying to find something positive to say to end my review on but all I can come up with is that one or two of the cast at least demonstrate that they might be good in other things - but not this one.

Avoid. Seriously. This isn't even "so bad it's good". It's not even "so bad you can show it in Film Studies courses to teach what NOT to do". It's so obviously bad that you wonder what was going through the makers' minds.

I cannot stress this enough: avoid.

BABE CAMP is the latest in a long tradition of British sex comedies about sex-starved males hunting for females and failing more often than succeeding. This genre had its provenance in the middle of the last century but pretty much died in the 1970s, although occasional films like this one pop up occasionally to remind us how good the old CARRY ON style flicks really were. BABE CAMP is a zero-budget comedy with precious few laughs and all manner of overdone acting. It tells of a guys who head off to a 'nude camp' only to find it's actually Nood camp, and there's no nudity. The comedy is pitiful as are most of the overacted performances, although the actresses playing the daughters aren't bad. Unfortunately, like a lot of truly bad films, this seems to go on forever without finishing.

Wow what a great movie. I watched this three times straight and couldn't get enough of it. My second cousin was talking up this movie at a party and I gave it a shot that night and for the past week I've been thinking about it and laughing to myself. I've been quoting the movie so much and I quite honestly think it changed my life. The two main characters Charley and Billy are some of the funniest guys in T. V. history. The scene where Charley gets caught rubbing his hog to the lady in the shower put me on the floor with laughter. You can't talk about babe camp without mentioning the smoking hot babes that made the movie electric. Like wow those cheerleaders were something else. I'm excited for babe camp 2 to come out but I heard Billy's actor got in some trouble haha. This is probably my favorite movie of all time.

Initially I picked up this movie given the fact that the movie's cover was rather much reminiscent of a National Lampoon's movie cover of sorts. However, I have to admit that I wasn't exactly expecting the movie to be on scale with most comedies of the National Lampoon's ilk.

Sure, I had never heard about "Babe Camp" from writer and director Philip West, as I stumbled upon it by random chance here in 2023. So I wasn't sure what I was in for, aside from it being a comedy of sorts. But I wasn't really harboring much of any expectations to the movie, truth be told.

The storyline and narrative in "Babe Camp" was pretty sluggish and mundane. There wasn't really much of any entertainment, enjoyment or comedy to be found throughout the course of the 85 minutes that the movie ran for. And without any laughs, or an overly interesting storyline, it was quite a struggle and an ordeal to sit through the movie that Philip West conjured up.

"Babe Camp" is permeated by a feel of low budget in every aspect, and it sort of feels like a homemade movie or a high school film club project. So don't expect anything grand here.

Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list in "Babe Camp". There isn't a single famous performer on the cast list. And in fairness, I will say that the actors and actresses did attempt to make the movie watchable, but they just had the budget and the script working against them.

If you enjoy comedy movies, your money, time and effort is best spent elsewhere. Some of us suffered through this ordeal, so you don't have to. You're welcome!

My rating of "Babe Camp" lands on a two out of ten stars.
