Too emotionally charged that you feel let emotional

From the trailer to the poster, this movie screams tragedy, and you need to be in the right mindset to venture into watching it.

The story follows a middle-class man who goes to great lengths to save his wife, who is on life support in the hospital. His relentless struggle to gather money from all possible sources to pay for the hospital bills forms the crux of the story.

This narrative reflects the real-life experiences of millions of people across the nation, allowing it to instantly connect with the audience. It serves as a mirror to society. However, despite the emotionally charged plot and struggles, the film becomes overdone in places, diminishing its impact. The screenplay falters because the emotions are not well-paced; when the same intensity persists from the first frame to the last, viewers may feel emotionally drained rather than devastated. To evoke genuine emotion, a film must pace itself, as constant sadness can wear out the audience.

Anupam Kher delivers a performance of a lifetime, once again proving that he is a top-notch, versatile actor who can seamlessly portray any character. Ranvir Shorey, in just a few scenes, manages to make his presence felt, adding strength to the film. Annu Kapoor, in a smaller role, provides strong support. Mahima Chaudhry shines in her cameo, and it was a delight to see her on screen after a long time. She definitely deserves more roles.

The background music enhances the film's mood, and the poetry used hits deep. Director Gajendra Ahire skillfully uses silence and calmness to communicate deeper nuances, which works in the film's favor.

Be sure to have a box of tissues handy, given the emotional weight of the subject matter. While it may not be a 10/10 film, it tackles a topic that will resonate with viewers. For its performances, subject matter, and sincerity, it certainly deserves your time.

This is called script, acting, everything. One of the best movies of the year. What an acting, Anupam Kher!"

Anupam Kher's The Signature is a masterclass in storytelling, delivering a deeply emotional and inspiring experience. Directed by Gajendra Ahire, the movie revolves around the theme of personal resilience, courage, and the indomitable human spirit. The Signature is a heart-touching narrative that focuses on the struggles of a middle-class man, played by Anupam Kher, who is forced to rebuild his life after an unexpected tragedy strikes.

The script of The Signature stands out as one of the strongest aspects of the film. Gajendra Ahire weaves an intricate story filled with realism, human emotions, and hope. The writing is sharp, sensitive, and deeply moving, resonating with audiences from all walks of life. The dialogues capture the essence of middle-class struggles and aspirations, making the movie relatable. The pacing is steady, giving the characters enough space to breathe and the audience time to connect with them emotionally.

The narrative doesn't rely on excessive melodrama; rather, it presents raw emotions in a grounded, believable manner. Each scene adds depth to the characters and takes the plot forward in a meaningful way. It's a script that tugs at your heartstrings without being over-the-top, allowing viewers to reflect on their own lives and struggles.

Anupam Kher delivers one of his finest performances in recent years. Known for his versatility, Kher outdoes himself in The Signature, portraying the character of a man who loses everything but refuses to give up. His portrayal is layered, capturing the vulnerability, strength, and resilience of a person going through a life-changing crisis. Kher brings a quiet dignity to his role, balancing despair with determination, making the audience root for him throughout.

His ability to convey deep emotions with subtle expressions is remarkable. You can feel his pain, anguish, and hope without him needing to say much. Every scene with Kher is a testament to his decades of experience and his ability to get into the skin of a character, making it feel real and relatable.

The supporting cast, including Mahima Chaudhary, also adds to the film's emotional depth. Chaudhary's return to the screen is graceful, and her chemistry with Kher enhances the film's emotional gravity. The rest of the ensemble cast does justice to their roles, providing a balanced support to Kher's powerful central performance.

Gajendra Ahire's direction is commendable, bringing the best out of his actors while maintaining a steady grip on the storytelling. He avoids unnecessary dramatization and keeps the tone realistic and grounded. The cinematography is subtle but effective, beautifully capturing the essence of everyday life, adding a layer of intimacy to the narrative.

The use of light and shadows in certain scenes reflects the emotional states of the characters, especially in Kher's moments of introspection. The close-up shots bring the audience closer to the characters' inner turmoil, creating a deep emotional connection.

The background score in The Signature is minimalistic but impactful. It complements the film's emotional tone without overwhelming the scenes. The music blends seamlessly into the narrative, enhancing the overall viewing experience without distracting from the story. The soulful melodies underscore the key moments in the film, amplifying the emotional impact.

At its core, The Signature is a film about hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. It explores themes of loss, resilience, and the human capacity to rebuild from the ashes. The movie's message is universal and powerful-no matter how many times life brings you down, you have the strength to stand up again.

It's a film that makes you think, reflect, and perhaps even shed a tear. The Signature reminds us that our personal signature, our identity, is what defines us, even when everything else is taken away.

The Signature is a film that stays with you long after the credits roll. It's not just a film; it's an emotional journey that beautifully captures the essence of life's challenges and triumphs. Anupam Kher's acting is top-notch, and his performance alone is worth watching the movie. The script, acting, direction, and every other element come together harmoniously to make The Signature one of the finest films of the year.

In summary: "This is called script, acting, everything. One of the best movies of the year. What an acting, Anupam Kher!

    Oh God !

Some movies have no fanfare, you do not hear about them, there is no huge publicity, there is no drama and still, they are one of the best movies.

Had no idea that the movie could touch me so strongly. But the story in the movie is a reality.

In fact too real to be shown. Movies are to entertain and inspire and make one forget about the toughness of life.

Nobody makes a movie to show the realities of life. For reality is too serious to be entertaining.

Yet once in a while, some creator has the courage to think beyond money, accolades, box office collections, profit, and the normal.

Such creator is Gajendra Vitthal Ahire and the creators of this movie.

Had renewed my Zee5 subscription to watch the Sabarmati report, which unfortunately after so much hustle failed to impress me. But found this GEM accidently. Had never heard of this movie! But a movie that deeply resonates with many.

A very well-made movie and will form a deep connection with many.

The rating in IMDB does not give it justice. Not all can appreciate a fine piece of art, you need a certain amount of maturity and intellect to appreciate this gem,

Well, this movie kept me in rapt attention all through its duration. Why do good movies have to be this short, and why do the boring ones run till infinity?

Mahima made the movie after the passing of her mother, and one can feel her tears. Something tells me these are not glycerine tears but something that comes out naturally when she thinks of her mum.

Be thankful to God for the beautiful life you have, appreciate each day, and thank Him every day, for we need his goodness and mercy each second of our lives.

    Highly recommended.

An emotionally charged plot with excellent acting by Anupam Kher

A senior citizen couple ( Anupam Kher and Neena Kulkarni) are on their way to a European holiday when the wife faints at the airport and the doctors at a hospital diagnose it as brain hemorrhage. So starts the travails of Anupam who is a middle class person and just doesn't have the funds required for the costly treatment at the hospital. He manages to scrape enough by borrowing from relatives and friends. He also sells off his home but still falls short of funds. His wife is on ventilator but he is reluctant to sign the "Do not resuscitate" form.

Director Gajendra Vitthal Ahire presents an emotionally charged narrative with a superlative performance from Anupam Kher who is likely to pick up a few awards. His acting at places where he launches into a monologue reminds one of the much appreciated " Saransh" . Many viewers specially those from middle class will identify and resonate with the problems faced by him. They may also identify with scenes at the hospital Cafeteria where a cup of tea provides succour from the miseries. There are references to crowd funding attempts to help him out financially but it doesn't work. In supporting performances we have Mahima Choudhry as an ex colleague ( a cancer survivor), Annu Kapoor as a helpful friend and Ranvir Shorey as desperate father. There are intermittent scenes of a morose, sad Anupam in dilapidated building. Some kind of symbolism there ?

    Saaransh couldn't be repeated

Anwar Says: Signing the DNR( Do not Resuscitate) for the spouse on death bed is not only rattling but tough as well. But National Award Winning director Gajendra Ahire's Hindi debut is definitely not at par with the debut film of Anupam Kher Saraansh of the same genre.

The pace of the movie is too slow. The emotional outbreaks and fragility of old age fights with love and belongings of companion and quest for money travel from property selling, begging from daughter, crowd funding and pre-payment of life insurance policy. In between the tortures of Corporate Hospitals and their doctors are also told. Ranveer Shourey cameo as a sufferer was quite disturbing. Found Mahima Chaudhary in Hindi cinema after a long time and she is good in her role. Anu Kapur is as usual brilliant.

Anupam Kher is visible in almost every frame but except at 2-3 places, is hardly able to put his impeccable impact. Watch only if you are Mr. Kher's fan.

    • Trivia
Anupam Kher is certainly one of the brilliant actors of Indian Cinema. The most important aspect is Mr. Kher's versatility and the perfection with which he enacts every character. The Movie Signature 2024 is very touching one. This provides larger platform to Anupam Kher and the veteran actor has made excellent performance. However, this is not the only film where Kher has brilliantly performed the role of a helpless father. His portrayal of such characters has a grand legacy.
