Phenomenal acting- Espically from Jeffry Dean Morgan (Negan) and Logan Kim (Hershel).
Jeffrey's ability to capture the attention of an entire room is something we have seen before- but he's already killing it this season and it's only episode 1!!!
Logan is very good at being an upset and angsty teenager- he's played this role so well so far and I'm looking forward to see much more of him this season!!
Besides the acting, the episode is well done and a great start for this story this season!! Already has me hooked!! The costumes, the scenery, the music, special effects, etc is all very very good per usual.

So the virus hit in 2012, in Dead City it is now the year 2029.
A mere 17 years have passed since society collapsed. And in that time american society, speech patterns, attitudes and behaviours have apparently reverted to those of 1889 Montana.
Quite how this happened is anyone's guess.
Ignoring this ridiculousness is hard to do but nonetheless the Negan sections are entertaining enough but Maggie is bogged down looking after the archetypal whiny, annoying american tv teenagers. Here's hoping some walkers munch on these self-indulgent snotbags very soon. Otherwise there's always the fast forward icon.

The Walking Dead: Dead City, Season 2: Maggie and Negan continue their saga, they can't live with each other, they live without each other, The Gangs of New York face an invasion from upstate by New Eden who are jealous of the Big Apples methane gas. Maggie is conscripted into their army. The invasion fleet is pelted with walker bombs. The Croat struggles to convince Negan to lead the resistance. Much blood is spilled as humans are intent on killing one another? Will anyone survive? An interesting tribe of survivors live in Central Park. A few twists and surprises in the plot. Created and Co-Written by by Eli Jorne. Six episodes on Sky Max. 8/10.
It's great to see Negan back in full force-this episode reminds us why he's one of the most compelling characters in The Walking Dead universe. The raw attitude, dark humor, and unpredictability are back, and it's exactly what the show needed. Jeffrey Dean Morgan brings that edge that makes every scene with him feel intense and alive.
However, the dynamic between Maggie and her son is a major letdown. It feels distant, underdeveloped, and emotionally flat. Considering everything Maggie has been through, you'd expect a deeper, more powerful bond between them-but it's barely there. It doesn't hit emotionally, and that weakens an important part of the story.
Overall, Negan's return is a highlight, but the lack of depth in Maggie's relationship with her son holds the episode back from being truly great.

This is the kind of episode that reminds you why Walking Dead has made it this far. This is not a zombie show, it's the story of the human condition. This episode is a fantastic delve into the character development of Negan and Maggie, as well as all of the new characters they have introduced. The set design is perfect, the tension feels real, and the world seems lived in. I love the concept of bringing power back to New York. I love that we get to see a Hershel as a young adult. I love Negan's moral compass point in the right direction no matter how horrible his living conditions are. I love how incredibly fun the church scene is. I think the Dama is superb. Let them cook. We've made it this far, so let's allow them to go further. Good job Dead City. Great attention to detail.
Did you know
- TriviaJeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) actually ate "more than 20 real cockroaches".
- GoofsIt makes no sense to use throwing knives to hunt deer when one has a bow and arrows. Even if that is all a person has, it is extremely unlikely a thrown knife would kill a deer. Their skulls have thick plates on the front that a throwing knife wouldn't penetrate, and their heart is too deep inside their chest for the knife to penetrate. The only way a deer could be brought down in this manner, is if someone was an expert knife thrower with years of experience, and got the knife to penetrate deep into the eye socket, or sever the femoral artery on the inside of the leg.
