Two Soaps and a Talc

Self made businessman Martin Parker has run out of road, his financial problems have reached crisis point, he's forced to take drastic action.

In a time where sitcoms aren't exactly a laugh a minute, I went in with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised, it's a good start, lots of laughs, a great cast, and it looked fantastic.

This took me straight back to my childhood, I'm not sure if it's the late 80' or early 90's, but they have truly captured the feel, vibe and look of the era, they got it spot on. The music was perfection, it made me out a playlist together of Soft Cell, Toyah and more.

Sheila Reid's sequences were fun, she's such a fine comedy actress, one of many well known faces, seeing George Costigan was something of a surprise, smashing actor.

Conleith Hill and Sian Gibson have such great comedy timing, they combined so well, wonderfully cast.

Good start, 8/10.

Two thirds of the writing team behind 'Car Share' re-team for this fun BBC comedy (yes, those words can still go together).

Yes, there's a fair bit of bad language, but much like 'Car Share' (I think comparisons between the two are inevitable) what makes me ingore that is the fact that this is so warm with its humour and characterisation.

Sian Gibson as ever is a joy, and the 90's vibe and music make this good fun on another level too.

I hope this does well, because other than the long-running 'Not Going Out', on the main BBC channels what other comedies do they really have that have a chance of bringing in viewers?

Fingers crossed this continues in such good form.
