The plot of 'Psycho Ex 2024' falls flat I mean literally. Although there may have been premise and had some promise the execution was left with nothing to be desired. The movie was lacking in the suspense department and the characters felt one dimensional and underdeveloped except for one of the actors who I recognized from countless of other movies and that I've seen Mr. Eric Robert. The motivation of the movie was not captivating at all. A whole lot of pacing problems within the characters and the scenes were just dragging which was so unnecessary. The Dialogue felt forced and unnatural in all directions.
I tried to watch this in it's entirety, but I just could not. I had high hopes for it, but it gave me a headache trying to watch the first 45 minutes of this movie. Mina Joukar's acting in the movie was absolutely horrible. I can't even believe this made it to Tubi or any other streaming platforms. The characters basically just run around inside and outside of the house during the majority of the movie, trying to get away from the character Derek; which is a complete nut case. This could have been an absolute great thriller/chiller movie with better actors and actresses with a better plot and better scenes.
I had to review this movie after sitting through it. The whole plot was ridiculous!!! The amount of times the victims could have gotten away from the "villain" was ridiculous. They had numerous times to injury him and did nothing. I just can't with how trash the movie and acting was! The bad guy was so annoying and I hated him more for his annoyance versus his actual actions. Plus he was trying so hard to be this evil almost serial killer and his acting skills were absolutely nowhere near this level. Honestly everyone was terrible when it came to acting. I've seen a few other movies written by this same person and they were not as bad. Also what true story was this based on?
At least we know any scripts you come up with and put together production wise these big film companies won't shy away from it as long as you have a large budget backing it. This film was just not it at all but I feel like I've heard the Psycho name on countless of other titled films especially through Lifetime channels full movies and episode programmings that they show. Honestly in my opinion this was just a rushed production and it wasn't really thought about or the pitched idea of the film was not deeply taking into consideration at all but it was a great try. Possibly going a different route on the film would be the best option in my honest opinion because this ain't it.
The ending of this (intended) thriller is the rock bottom of depressing, but since it's based on true events (or so they claim), I probably cannot blame the makers for this. I can, however, blame them for all the rest. Because this movie really is, in everything that matters, below every par!
The acting of the whole cast is terrible - are they even actors?! The score is irritating, and the whole movie looks like it's filmed with a handheld smartphone. All member of the besieged family are unsympathetic to begin with: the mother is an hysterical ADHD, daughter Jill is a cranky btch, and daughter Megan a sullen dope. And the supposedly fearsome stalking psycho-ex is a babyfaced teen with a tantrum and a lisp. Why didn't the three at the start of their ordeal jump in the car and drive the hell out of there, in stead of stepping out of the house just to call 911 and then stupidly going back into the house again?! And there were countless moments when they could easily have thrown themselves on top of this guy - like in the end when he took forever to drown Jill in the pool, and Megan stands totally passive, just speechless and appalled, behind his back!
Anyway, the whole project breathes low (to no) budget and amateurism. I sat the whole thing out, just to see the psycho-ex get his comeuppance, but they even denied me that satisfaction. In short: a totally failed wannabe thriller.
