Rasha’s song Uyi Amma continues to grab attention despite the film not churning out great numbers, either at the box office or upon its Ott arrival!

The period drama arrived on Netflix and has secured the second-lowest debut on the platform for any Indian film that arrived on the platform in 2024 – 25.

As per the data by Netflix from March 10 to March 16, Azaad in its debut week, garnered a viewership of 1.1 million on Netflix against 2.4 million viewing hours and secured the 10th spot in the globally trending list of top 10 non-English films on Netflix. After a successful run in the theaters, the Malayalam action comedy Rifle Club arrived on Netflix. However, in the first four days, the film did not make an impressive debut on the Ott platform compared to other films of the same caliber.

Directed by Ashiq Abu and starring Vijayaraghavan, Dileesh Pothan, and Anurag Kashyap, the film is rated 7.1 on IMDb, and the official synopsis of the action comedy says, “A historic rifle club faces a vengeful arms dealer’s gang in the Western Ghats. Skilled hunters fight to survive and protect their legacy.”

In its debut week, as per Netflix’s data from January 13 to January 19, Rifle Club garnered 1 million views against 1.9 million viewing hours and secured eighth spot in the list of top 10 trending non-English films globally this week. Rifle Club arrived on January 16, 2025 on Netflix.

Chiyaan Vikram this year had only one release, Thangalaan, that had a disastrous run at the box office, earning 71.45 crore worldwide. The film arrived on Netflix unceremoniously on December 10. However, it had a lukewarm response on Ott as well.

In the debut week of its Ott run, the Tamil action drama as per Netflix’s data from December 9 to December 15, garnered a viewership of 1.5 million. This is one of the least viewed South Indian films in its debut week on Netflix.

This debut week’s viewership was much lower than the best week registered by Lucky Baskhar, which garnered 5.1 million views. Chiyaan Vikram garnered 70% lesser views in its debut week.

Actor Ravi Teja recently sustained a muscle tear in his right hand while shooting for his upcoming film, tentatively titled #RT75. Despite the injury, he continued filming, which worsened the condition.

However, the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni drama-romance faced stiff competition from Disney’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which held onto second place in its third week with £4 million, bringing its cumulative total to £42.9 million.

Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” continues to draw audiences in its fifth week, securing third place with £1.5 million and pushing its total to £35.5 million. Warner Bros. saw success with its new release “Trap,” which opened at No. 4, pulling in £1.1 million.
