I really like Esther Yu! She's so beautiful, her gaze and expressions are perfect. The story is interesting, mysterious, and intricate. The storylines of each actor are unpredictable! I'm very curious about who the leader of WuFeng is and what will happen between Esther Yu and Linnghe Zhang in the future! Will Esther Yu choose to betray WuFeng, or will she choose to help WuFeng?

"The Journey to You" is a refreshing blend of espionage thrill and personal journey. Yun Wei Shan is not your typical spy - she's layered, filled with complexities, and yearns for a life beyond deceit and disguises. Her infiltration into the Gong residence is a mix of suspense and profound character development.
The house itself, with its secrets and dangers, is brilliantly portrayed. Gong Zi Yu, the rebellious nobleman, brings in a fresh dynamic. Their relationship, though starting on rocky grounds, evolves into one of the series' strongest points. The narrative is mostly tight, though some episodes feel stretched.
The cast performs admirably, with the leads showing a wide range of emotions. While some secondary characters feel underutilized, the main storyline keeps the viewers invested.
Overall, "The Journey to You" is a recommended watch for those who want a drama that offers more than just romance and action. It's about growth, discovery, and the choices we make in the face of adversity.

I liked the series as a whole even if the ending is unsatisfying. I loved the setup and world building, I thought the acting of most actors was decent and I loved the story. This is why I gave it a seven.
I gave it only a seven because I had a problem with the actress playing the sister. What was the purpose of the older sister's role anyway except as a comic relief? Even as a joke she was truly terrible. I'm not sure if it was the actress herself or the acting directions but the result was embarrassing and actually unnecessary.
If the whole side story of the sister was cut off through the editing, nothing whould be missing in the story. She was loud, weird and looked deranged at times.

It pains me to say this, but Esther Yu was a clear mismatch for this kind of "dark feminine" role. She was wonderful (dare I say, even borderline annoying) as the FL in "Love Between Fairy and Devil," which played more to her strengths as an actress. But this role (Yun Wei Shan) demanded a less "wooden," more balanced performance and would have been better suited to an actress such as Bai Lu or Zhou Ye. Don't get me wrong, Esther Yu isn't a terrible actress, she just doesn't seem to be as versatile as others (for example, everyone loves Zhao Lu Si, and she is indeed a bubbly, charming, quirky breath of fresh air... but I don't think she's built for dark feminine roles either).
With that said, Lu Yu Xiao did a stellar job as Shangguan Qian. Ryan Cheng's performance as Gong Shang Jue was so strong that it likely helped inspire his eventual casting as the military general ML (Xiao Jue) in "Legend of the Female General." Of course, Zhang Ling He's performance as Gong Zi Yu was competent, but he suffered from being paired with a wooden FL.
Other honorable mentions include Tian Jia Rui's solid performance as Gong Yuan Zhi and Jolin Jin as Zi Yu's elder sister, Gong Zi Shang.
I feel like this series really had good potential that slightly missed the mark, but that doesn't mean it's unwatchable. Just be prepared to enjoy the dynamic between the secondary ML and FL more than the main ML and FL dynamic. In fact, be prepared to care more about everything else except the main storyline.
On the bright side, the costumes and set designs are absolutely stunning. Also, who doesn't like to look at Zhang Ling He, am I right?

I do love the director's works, and this My Journey To You seems to be more in line with the current aesthetic than the ones made a few years ago. Not only are the male characters very handsome, but the female characters are also pretty and bravr. The director Guo Xiaosheng is good at capturing the emotions between two people, whether it's love or affection, and it always gives me a deep feeling. Whether it's the main characters, or the minor characters, they all have their own stories and I felt the whole story line is rich. And some of the scenery in the show is so incredibly beautiful that it could even stand alone as a landscape movie. Really enjoy watching it.
